5 out of 5 eggsBenQ RL2455HM

Pros: The best gaming monitor for the money, and no dead pixels.

Cons: when i received the product, the box was wrap in duck tape and tear slightly open. I'm not sure if newegg did it or not.

Other Thoughts: Had to change the picture mode for gaming and watching movies.

3 out of 5 eggsGhosting

Pros: It has a pretty good picture overall, when nothing on screen is moving.

Cons: The major issue I had with this monitor was the ghosting. It's the first monitor I've had that had ghosting. I've had two of these now , and both have had ghosting. It's not just in games either, if I scroll down to read more the text will bleed up and blend into the next line for ~0.25-0.5 sec.

Other Thoughts: I spent well over an hour trying to adjust the settings this way or that to correct this, nothing seemed to make any difference as far as the ghosting was concerned.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Value

Pros: - Decent quality by default, 3 programmable profiles
- Effective brightness, contrast, sharpness adjustments (good for different lighting conditions, games & document editing/ web browsing) allows for very low eye fatigue after 4+ hours working/gaming straight
- Great response time/smoothness for 60Hz monitor
- 1080p resolution on a 24" screen is really pleasant to work with

Cons: - Speakers: low power and low quality, do not expect to use them
- TN panel: does not have super rich colours, nor great viewing angles (distorts when viewed at an angle) or extremely high brightness (for bright workspaces)

Other Thoughts: Not for super high-performance applications, but overall a very good monitor (sturdy construction, easy-to-use settings, anti-glare coating works well)

If you need perfect colour accuracy, or gaming at 100+ FPS, or extreme contrast to watch movies on blu-ray, get something else, BUT if you do a little bit of everything, this monitor is usually a good balance of price and quality

3 out of 5 eggsGreat for gaming, but not the best for other uses

Pros: It's amazing and the input times and refresh rate speed of 1 MS is definitely noticeable. If you're a gamer and are interested in taking your gaming to the next level, consider this monitor as it's very affordable and is great for gaming.

Cons: It has a dead pixel in the lower left hand side of the screen. It's really annoying since many of the games I play and videos I watch have dark scenes and settings, so that bright blue pixel is VERY noticeable. Many others didn't get any dead pixels though, so congrats to them. I may RMA for a replacement since the dead pixel really, really bothers me.

3 out of 5 eggsSolid for gaming, suffers from TN drawbacks

Pros: The fast response time really makes a difference. The LED backlighting makes colours vibrant but not oversaturated, the OSD isn't too confusing (though certainly not the best), and the external appearance of this monitor is quite nice, with the red trim on the base and a matte display. Connectivity has the standard choices and will satisfy anyone looking to put this monitor on a desk (though the choices might be fairly limited if you're looking to make this your main display in the house, and since it's a straight-up monitor there's no component or composite connections).

There are little things that you don't really think about when purchasing a monitor, but are nice to have, like a warning about Optimal Resolution (which you can turn off) if the displayed content is above or below 1920x1080; an option to choose between Limited and Full RGB (recommend reading up on the difference, but if the input source this monitor is connected to supports Full RGB, make sure that's selected on both the device and monitor); and an Information section in the settings that tells you what the model number is. That saved me some searching.

The buttons on the side of the display, used to control the OSD, are marked with small white dots that make them easier to see from the front. Each is programmable for a hotkey, which can range in function from changing the input source, to controlling the Black Equalizer levels, to quickly changing one of the predefined Picture Modes, to opening the OSD, etc.

Cons: If you are looking for rich, deep blacks, this - and any other monitor with a TN panel - is not for you. There is way too much backlight bleed-through. You won't really notice in bright scenes in movies or games, but in darker scenes, while the colours still hold true, the backlight shines through the blacks. Others may be unaffected by it, but it proves really distracting for me, and even though I calibrated this monitor as much as possible (the default RTS 1 setting is terrible), you'll still find me trying in vain to find some sort of backlight setting. On my HDTV, I was able to turn down the backlight and up the contrast and brightness to make up for it, which solved the bleed-through, but unfortunately all that is available with this monitor is Brightness, Contrast, and various other settings.

I can't say for other reviewers, but the Black EQ really makes no difference to me. Yes, it makes dark things brighter, which may help if the game you're playing is particularly dark - such as either Metro game, or heck, even parts of Destiny - but it does so at the expense of picture quality (after all, those scenes/levels are dark for a reason).

The buttons on the side have very slight ridges on them, meant to make it easier to find them in the dark, but they lack any other distinction, and they're all the same size and shape, so I find I fumble around with them more often than not if I need to change something at night.

Other Thoughts: The AMA setting fully eliminates any trace of unwanted motion blur/ghosting (unless the game you're playing puts it in there on purpose), but at the cost of showing a white after-image for a split-second. You're unlikely to notice it in day-to-day usage when it's set to High, but it's there, and it took me a while to adjust to its presence. DO NOT set it to Premium, or you WILL notice it. In the end, whether you use AMA at all is up to your personal preference. I find it's more noticeable when you're looking at something dark on a lighter background. Case in point, the trees in Morrowind: looking around, I could clearly see a rapid afterimage of the trees against the bright blue sky. Disabling it showed ghosting though, which I dislike more than the unique issue the feature provides.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Amazing performance so far. Very hard to tell the difference between this and a higher rated 120hz monitor. 1ms response time makes things insanely smooth.

Great price to performance ratio. Felt like an absolute steal with its sale price of $189.99 + the 10% off coupon it had. At its sale price I'd say its easily one of the best in the range.

Black eQualizer is perfect for darker games like Battlefield 4 on Operation Metro, or Bioshock Infinite. Details you may have missed before stand out really well.

Cons: A tad bit wobbly but by no means bad. It'll only wobble as much as my desk will and not much more. The menu will confuse you and make you think the monitor will constantly revert to its default settings which aren't the best. It has a setting thats called AMA which to me, only provoked ghosting and white "trails" on moving objects. Turning it off fixed the problem.

Its factory settings are dull and by no means will it match a IPS monitor for color. However upon tinkering with them and learning how the menu works (I skipped the instruction manual) I had my settings just how I liked them and was satisfied with the results.

In short, factory settings and build are pretty good. May not be picture perfect but not worth knocking off an egg.

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm impressed. This is my first BenQ monitor and I was curious to see what made them so sought after. For my first purchase I'm surely impressed and consider it a solid upgrade over my faithful but aged Samsung 24 inch which reached the end of its lifespan. I try to purchase based on things that will last, and for starters, this monitor seems like it'll server me just as well if not better.
