1 out of 5 eggsLow price but bad value. *UPDATED*

Pros: Aesthetics - Unique and pretty.
Wireless charging is nifty if you have a compatible phone.
Control interface is very well designed. Easy to set up.

Cons: Very poor color rendition and contrast ratio. Used several calibration techniques but was unable to get even as much contrast as significantly cheaper TN monitors I own. Used both HDMI and DisplayPort via ATI R9 390.
Not supported by Samsung on Windows 10.
Not even close to IPS image quality.

Other Thoughts: The Freesync is very appealing at this price point. It's what convinced me to buy once it went on sale here. I do love the sales on NewEgg. Unfortunately, the image quality just wasn't up to par. PLS is being pushed as a competitor to IPS since it has nearly TN response times and the marketing hype claims nearly IPS image quality. From my experience, it is simply the worst of both technologies. The response times are average for TN and the image quality is worse than even the cheapest TN monitor I own. So, Freesync is nifty, but I have to change brightness settings mid-game to transition between indoor and outdoor areas.

My previous review had a manufacturers response asking me to contact customer support. After doing so, I am revising to subtract an egg. It took an hour of LiveChat during which I was stuck in a loop of being told to install Samsung software, told it's not supported on Win10, told to update drivers, responded that the current Windows & ATI drivers are installed, then the whole thing repeats. Four times.

4 out of 5 eggsNice monitor for $175

Pros: PLS (IPS) panel, freesync, up to 75hz refresh rate in Ultimate mode.

Cons: Does not come with displayport cable (needed for Freesync currently), Freesync range 48-75Hz.

Other Thoughts: The freesync range can be lowered. Search: "Owners of Freesync Monitors can enlarge Hz range". To enable Freesync on this monitor (button on back of monitor): click on Menu, System, FreeSync, Ultimate Engine. After that go into Radeon Settings, Display tab, turn AMD Freesync On.

5 out of 5 eggsA good mid-range monitor for the price

Pros: - PLS (IPS variant) panel for better color accuracy and viewing angles
- Although it was not advertised, my monitor support 75 hz refresh rate out of the box without any tinkering
- Variable refresh rate without breaking the bank compare to the high end Freesync and Gsync monitors
- Good amount of display connections (Display Port, HDMI, VGA)

Cons: - The stand is very limited that only supports tilt
- Colors are a bit off out of the box and requires some calibration
- Freesync range is limited out of the box (56-75 hz with standard 48-75 hz with ultimate)

Other Thoughts: - If you want a wider Freesync range, it requires a hack which can be found online. My monitor has a range of 35-75 hz with the hack.
- Can't really comment on how well the Qi charging perform since my Samsung Galaxy SII does not support it.
- A much easier resolution to drive on mid-range GPU with Freesync support, doesn't make any headlines with the specs it provide, but it also doesn't break the bank.

4 out of 5 eggsPurchased OPEN BOX version..UPDATED

Pros: First off, the apparent refresh rate is 40-60hz with Freesync.
-Design is clean. I like the light blue wrapped around the frame of the monitor.
-Charging station with compatible devices.
-Good color. Slight calibration had the color contrast test near perfect.
-Freesync capable, but out of the box at 40-60hz refresh. Due to the nature of the technology driving Freesync it is capable to currently lower the refresh rate minimum or raise the maximum, but not both. The process requires the use of several programs that will need to be downloaded. Instructions for how to do this can be found easily through a web search. The factory rates may be set as a safety however to minimize flickering that can be induced.

Cons: -Samsung does not have a listed refresh rate range for this monitor with Freesync. Live chat support told me their database lacked the info. I ended up finding it on some message board: thank you internet.
-Tilt is fairly limited. I would have liked more downward tilt.
-Freesync option in the monitor is "Off", "Standard Engine", and "Ultimate Engine". What the funk is this? Some searching around and in the product manual mentions vaguely that this may change the refresh rate range. I have no idea. I'm in the process of testing it out still.
-This is probably related to the open box of this product I purchased, but the two screw holes that mount the base to the monitor were stripped with the screws half out. Pretty lame that got by Newegg's people. However someone else's loss is my gain as a small strip of wire into the length of each hole gave the screws enough purchase and now the monitor is solid in the stand.
-1 square inch spot of backlight bleed noticeable on pure black color. The location of the spot is off center but along the edge of the bottom of the screen. It is not annoying as it's out of sight 99% of the time. There is also a small ring that when viewed upon pure white color shows itself as almost a lens flare effect in shape, but is visible only as there are slight grey streaks that contrast against the white making it noticeable. Slight imperfections in the layered materials behind the screen I'm almost positive. I can also live with it as like the other on pure black issue, this one is quite subtle and hardly annoying.
-Retail box was large. Twice again as big as the same size Asus monitor box I have. Another thing to note about this is that the unit itself is very heavy. It feels almost too heavy for the stand it is on as it can wiggle with your table if it has any play to it.

Other Thoughts: I may not be a verified owner of this product because I purchased an OPEN BOX model. I knew I would end up compromising somewhere because of the cost. So far I am very pleased I did get this. If you are on the market for freesync, at the price range of this monitor new you choose between this and the AOC 24" while it's on sale or even a Nixeus Vue 24 if you can find it.

5 out of 5 eggsSamsung 24" the sweets!!!

Pros: I looooooooove this monitor. its much bigger than my old Dell monitor. Menu and controls are very straightforward and easy to navigate. Very sharp pixels. Bright! colors are on point. 4ms is enough for me. Freesync works great, experiencing no tears on Battlefront, Ark, or any games I've been playing on. This monitor just looks lovely on my desk too!

Cons: Nothing really to complain about. No display port cable, most monitors I looked at dont come with one either so idk if thats a con. Wireless charging isn't supported on my current phone but I'll get a S6 soon anyway. Its not 1440p, not 2k, not 4k, not 144hz.

Other Thoughts: I have a Sapphire 390, so I was going to buy either this or an LG ultrawide monitor with the freesync. I wasn't going to buy a monitor without it. Saw the LG at a local store, too slim. screen for dollar ratio was much better with the Samsung. 1920x1080 is bare minimum and I could definitely play with higher resolutions but really 1080 is fine. Not enough money to buy those higher res monitors with freesync. I got this one for $160. very happy with it :)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent and Sexy

Pros: Very aesthetic monitor and stand. Bezel is thin and the blue accents are appealing. Wireless charging works with no hassle with my Droid Turbo. Very sturdy stand and seems to be very well built.
Display is sharp and vivid. Colors seem off, but that was mostly the default dynamic setting (blue too high for my taste) and easily fixed with the monitor's picture settings. Response time is great too, especially with the 'Fastest' setting, but I dropped it to 'Faster.' I tested my scrolling black on white font (like this page I'm on now) and can read the words as I scroll down at about half speed. I haven't played a game yet, but my new build isn't ready for it anyway.

Cons: I haven't found any yet, but I'll update if something annoys me.

Other Thoughts: I did get this on Black Friday sale for $80 off. The wireless charging is nice, but I really picked this because of the price and the FreeSync capability. I haven't tested this yet either.
