2 out of 5 eggsQuestionable reliability

Pros: Good picture, low price

Cons: After a month, the monitor started making a crackling sound when it tried to come out of sleep mode. Then it started failing to come out of sleep mode and required power cycling a few times to get it working again. I am waiting for an RMA but worry about the quality of the replacement.

Other Thoughts: At the time I bought the Polyview, I also bought a 19" ViewEra. So far, the ViewEra has been more reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Comments: Got this LCD for my wife who had a 12+ year CRT and what a difference!

Great monitor. I recommended it to a friend, and he purchased one as well.

1 out of 5 eggsa craps shoot - could be good or bad.

Comments: I bought nine of these for a set of new systems I installed - six have worked fine, but I've had three RMAs in the past 2 months. I had no trouble getting the RMA approved, but I did have to pay shipping, which ups the average price considerably - and we were without the monitor for two weeks while it was processed. Two of the nine have a stuck pixel - annoying but not a big deal and not warranted.

The final straws were sending back a V17E monitor for repair and getting a V17D monitor back, and sending another one back for blown speakers, and getting the same one back unfixed. If you are lucky you will have a great monitor. If not you will have a major problem.

1 out of 5 eggsI GOT BURNED

Comments: I'm a writer and work in Wordperfect 4-6 hours a day. I've had this monitor for about 3 months and it is ruined for any other use. No matter what else may be up on screen, the image of Wordperfect in BURNED IN. Now I'm buying another LCD and this one is going to the spare stash for emergencies only. Don't buy - you will live to regret it.

1 out of 5 eggsWARNING-BAD BURN-IN!

Comments: My first review didn't get posted (!) so here's another try... WARNING - This monitor WILL burn-in images. It burns-in worse than any monitor I've ever seen! Turning on a randomized screen-saver after only 1 minute and powering the monitor off at night has reduced the extremeness of the burn-in, but it's still obvious. It took a little longer than the 30 day return period for me to notice it. So, I'm stuck! Don't get stuck, too!

2 out of 5 eggsbeware of image burning!

Comments: At first, I thought this monitor seemed like a great deal. It was cheaper and seemed to have great image quality, but after a month or so the flaw was becoming noticeable. This sucker doesn't take long for an image to start burning itself onto the screen! As mentioned by other reviewers, it seems only semi-permanent, but it is easily quite apparent! How disappointing!

1 out of 5 eggsLowsy Monitor with No Warranty

Comments: This monitor burns in quite easily. I have chatted with chi mei Corporation and they have informed me that the entire line of polyview monitors is off the market now. And no warranties will be honored on this product. BEWARE that new egg only garrantees for 30 days after that it is your bad luck.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price

Comments: I now have 3 of these monitors. No dead pixels on any of them. No burned images like others claim. Would buy another if needed.

5 out of 5 eggsAs they say in Australia...the monitor is

Comments: Made the jump from an old 17" CRT I bought back in 1999. Thank gawd, I wish I had done it earlier. LCD prices are very affordable now. I'd tell anyone that was still sitting on the fence like myself to get off their duff and buy one. All the specs on this particular monitor matched all of my reserach on what to look for monitor. This Polyview V17E is sweet as... Can't beat the specs (14 ms, 400cd/m2, 450:1, .264mm). No dead pixels. Also has DVI which works great.
