5 out of 5 eggsLove it, waiting to buy a second one

Pros: Definitely the best monitor I have seen. Color and dynamic range are excellent out of the box, and profiling with a puck changed little. With DP, it runs full 4K resolution at 60 fps on GTX960, 970 and 980, even with a 10-foot DP cable. When NewEgg puts this one on sale again, I'm snapping up another one.

Cons: So far, none: no popping noises, cracking sounds, or black screen of monitor death. Maybe LG fixed those problems, but more likely it's a matter of luck. 'Hope my luck holds....

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 is ungraceful with DisplayPort compared to DVI. When the monitor turns off or the computer sleeps, DisplayPort signals that the monitor is off and Windows Plug-and-Play rearranges all windows to fit a default 800 x 600 desktop. Everything is crammed into one small corner of this vast monitor. On a two-monitor setup, everything moves to the other monitor. Allegedly W10 fixes this. A Quadro card can be programmed to feed Windows a saved EDID from file instead of from the monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsBuy a different monitor!!!

Pros: Nice picture when it isn't randomly going black.

Cons: Random loud popping noise even when muted with volume set to 0. Screen goes black for a second or two on some of the popping instances.
Cable choices are limited. Need DP to mDP only. Factory cable is the only choice I have found.

This monitor is the worst aspect of this workstation which is running with a FirePro W8100.

I should have gotten a different monitor from a different manufacturer.

Terrible popping noise at random intervals. The noise happens with the monitor on mute and the volume turned to 0. I have had the firmware update performed by a local service company, but it has not helped.

A very expensive 4K monitor shouldn't make your computer work so frustrating.

Buy a different monitor.

Other Thoughts: Terrible

3 out of 5 eggsNice image quality

Pros: Very clear sharp monitor

Cons: Three months after the warranty was up the monitor went dead. Newegg or LG refused to help. It's in the shop now, it will cost over $300 to fix.

Other Thoughts: I paid $1600 for this thing and now it lists for about $1000. That plus the 300 more I have to spend to have it fixed make this a very painful subject. Don't buy it without an extended warranty.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor

Pros: Good color
Even illumination across the panel
PBP is quite useful
Lots of pixels!

Cons: The stand is merely adequate, better if it were more robust.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this monitor.
For non-gaming use an HD7970 or GTX970 is more than adequate. For gaming one really needs a much more powerful video card.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible picture and color

Pros: Runs at 4096 X 2160 @ 60Hz on my nVidia 690. Was able to run all my usual games at max resolution and max settings (Crysis 2 and 3, Bioshock 2, Diablo 3, Civ 5, Battlefield 4, and Silent Hunter 5). Huge screen real estate! I thought I had screen real estate with my old Samsung SyncMaster 305T but this just makes it look small.
Just to see if it would work I connected this to my production computer in the basement running an X800XL. Picture displayed just fine at the max resolution that card would support.
Love the picture quality and color. Night and day difference from my Samsung 305T.
My photos look amazing in Photoshop CS4. The color just pops out. Blacks are black (best I've seen on a monitor so far)

Cons: Only con was default setup needs tweaking. Brightness was way too high out of the box

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to others. I liked it so much I bought another one for my production computer in the basement. Some people might not like the little joystick control at the bottom center of the monitor. I actually like the design of this and it made making changes easy and simple to do.

5 out of 5 eggsBest monitor I've owned!

Pros: - 4096x2160 @ 60Hz via supplied DP cable connected to my GTX980 (not sure about the issues others are reporting)
- Great colors and brightness (have brightness on 18% right now)
- Love the massive real-estate you get with this screen size and resolution
- Using it in a dual-booting Win10/OS X setting. Works flawlessly in both OS:es
- Picked this puppy up for $799 on post-Black Friday sales. Glad I did! Waiting for price to drop to possibly add a second.

Cons: In my case it has worked great straight out of the box, so no real cons
- A minor annoyance is that I don't like the pulsating LED when in standby mode LG persists with on their newer models. Have to cover it up when trying to sleep in the same room. Could just tape over it with black tape, I suppose.

Other Thoughts: - I would recommend it to anyone who is willing to spend a bit extra for crisp resolution, colors and brightness.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor! Supports 4096 x 2160 @ 60HZ

Pros: Bright, clear, and huge. Coming from a 23ish" monitor it's a whole new world. It DOES support 4096 x 2160 @ 60 HZ!

Cons: Not sure what to list here. Speakers aren't great, but you don't expect great from monitor speakers. Cables that were longer could be nice, but they are probably industry average so they aren't terrible.

Other Thoughts: There is some confusion surrounding the refresh rate this monitor can handle. There are several factors in this, your video card, the quality of your cable and the type(HDMI or DisplayPort) of cable you are using. The manual states that at 4096 x 2160 the max refresh rate is 60HZ IF AND ONLY IF you use a DisplayPort cable. Obviously, your card would also need to support this and you'd need a good cable as others have referenced. I've tested and confirmed this configuration works.

Also, for reference, the manual also states that with an HDMI cable the max refresh at 4096 x 2160 is 24HZ. Likely the other reviewers were using HDMI. Unfortunately the customer service reps are often under trained and don't have the best resources, we should never assume the information they provide is accurate. That was the case with the reviewer who was told 24HZ was the max. I haven't tried, but I believe any type of HDMI to DisplayPort cable/adapter would result in 24HZ as the highest refresh rate also. The magic is in an actual DisplayPort cable, it supports higher transfer rates.

5 out of 5 eggsGood display for a Mac Pro

Pros: Large display, perfect color, compatible with 2013 Mac Pro graphics card

Cons: No defects or problems

Other Thoughts: I recommend this display for a Mac Pro because the computer allows simple adjustment of the scaled resolution. I can easily choose between larger text when I am reading and smaller text when I need to see the big picture.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't imagine it being better

Pros: I'm a computer technician, but not a photography or video expert, so I can't say anything about professional color accuracy.

PROS:
1) Picture quality is awesome - the whites are as clear as an iPad screen, and the sharpness is perfect as expected.
2) Works exactly as it should, and this thing is big!
3) The menu joystick works great, and there are lot of settings provided.
4) Speakers are loud and crisp, albeit completely lacking in bass.
5) Has all the inputs one could want
6) Can rotate it to Portrait mode.

Cons: CONS:
1) I'm not sure what the DisplayPort EQ function does yet (need to read up on it), but when I first connected the display with the provided DP cable, image was jumping around, lots of popping noises were coming from the speakers (since DP carries audio as well), and display would go black for a few seconds, every 10 sec or so. I really thought the monitor was defective. Once I turned on the DisplayPort EQ setting in the menu, everything worked perfectly.
2) With the size of the monitor I wish they were able to add a bit more bass to it so I don't have to pick up my own set.
3) Windows 10 drivers don't exist from Microsoft so you have to download it separately from LG.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts:
1) I had to reduce the brightness from 100 to about 35; I was getting a headache and my eyes were getting tired really fast.
2) I like having smaller fonts and fitting as much as possible into a screen, so I had to adjust the scaling (under advanced settings in Windows 10) from 150% default to about 135%.
3) I have not yet installed the software package, which enables the Screen Split function as wells as some color settings.
