1 out of 5 eggsGreat product, except...

Pros: Excellent image quality even when it's not really dark in the room.
Lots of connection options, can use USB drives, HDMI, A/V IN, & RGB to hook connect lots of different devices.
Compact & light

Cons: I bought this to project art subjects on canvas to help when transferring outlines of subjects to paint. I discovered after, that still images from a USB source will only display for about 5 mins before idle timeout switches the projector to stand by mode. There are no settings to change the idle timeout times. You can't disable it or extend it, which seems ridiculous. That should be a basic option.

Another potential issue is this projector is not supported in Canada. It's a USA product only. LG Canada has nothing to do with it or any knowledge about it if you need support. You'll have to contact LG USA for any warranty or technical support. You cannot return it to Newegg for a refund...exchanges only for 30 days.

It should be way more configurable. Artograph rebrands this exact projector & adds new software options that give many art related features such as displaying still photos for as long as you want, among many others. They also charge $400+ more for the same projector. Guess that'll teach me to try & save a little.
It's also very expensive. There are much cheaper options available.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't recommend buying it unless it was much cheaper & from some place with better support & return policies.

5 out of 5 eggspleasantly surprised

Pros: -small and light weight.
-crisp/bright picture with easy focus.
-surprisingly good sounding speakers.
-tv tuner that works really well (watching the capitals/islanders playoff series as i type this).
-usb connection implementation is great, just plugged in a flash drive and was easily able to access media.
-easy to navigate menu/remote control that even came with batteries.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: -catalyst control center (amd graphics) made the projector the default device as soon as i plugged the hdmi cable in so i had to fumble a little to get mirror images or extend desktop.
-default sound device became the projector but that was easy to change right from the desktop taskbar menu.

i was pleasantly surprised with the quality and functionality of this and ended up really liking it.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: I've used this every weekend after receiving it. I've used it with my computer, blu ray player, xbox one.... EVERYTHING!

Resolution on the projector may seem like a low resolution but this thing will blow your mind away. The focusing ring is easy to use and ultra smooth. This thing is no bigger than the size a 1TB Western Digital MyBook external hard drive, maybe a bit thicker but that's about it.

Supports bottom screw mount for tripods. You'll need the adapter plate that has the screw to screw into the bottom mount and then simply put it on your tri-pod. This is the best method I've found and it's worked great. This also works great with a chromecast since the usb port is right on top of the hdmi. The projector does have a jacket/pouch like thing that protects it from scratches and if you're a women, it may appear "cute".

Colors are rich and blacks are deep for a projector in this price range. It's 3D capable but I do not have the necessary equipment to test that so I do not have any input for that, sadly. You will get best display quality at night of course, unless you had a theater room. In day light with the blinds closed the colors looked very washed out but that's to be expected. I've been bouncing the image off of just my wall since this is my first projector and do not own a projector screen. I would imagine the picture being a bit more crisp on a screen vs. a white wall that is somewhat textured.

All in all I am very very impressed with it and plan to use it for weekends to come. Everyone that has seen it has complimented on it's size and picture/color quality. It really is amazing and was not something I was expecting from such a small package. Like they say, great things come in small packages..

Cons: One concern..

No lens cover? What was LG thinking when shipping out these units? It's a $599 projector but lacks a lens cover....? I dug around the small box to find documentation, a pretty big power brick but no lens cover. This alone was worth an egg to me simply because the lens should be covered/closed when NOT IN USE! Dust, spills, scratches... all of that can easily ruin a very very costly electronic device.

Other Thoughts: Other than the no lens cover the projector was straight forward to setup. Menus are easy to navigate and configure. Out of the box the colors were really on point alright and I didn't bother to make much adjustment. For first timers, turning up brightness does not help with making the picture more clear or bring the colors more true to life. You'll just wash it out more.

For the money, this is definitely something to look at if you planning to buy a projector. You won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Size & weight - This thing is tiny compared to my old projector. Not much different to an old Roku 2 in size. That's crazy. I was used to 15lb monsters.

Brightness - I have a pretty bright, sunny living room but if I close the blinds I am able to watch this little guy as long as I crank the brightness to max. I am amazed.

Remote - Works very well, I haven't had any issues where I had to hit buttons multiple times. It lets you access pretty much any setting you'd need.

Projection angle and distance - You can get pretty close, like 5 or 6 feet from the scree with this little guy and get a nice, bright, clear picture. Also you can put the unit below the screen and tilt it and it adjusts the picture. You can tilt it a reasonable amount and have it still look good (45 - 60 degrees I would estimate).

Can be mounted to a tripod (screw hole in unit).

Multiple connection options - HDMI, VGA, RCA, Coax, headphone jack, USB 2.0 (it can play some file types directly from the USB), Miracast/WiDi for wireless streaming from devices like Android phones.

Can handle 3D content.

Cons: Noise - Not a deal killer, but its fan is a little loud for my tastes, but honestly its no louder than my older, bigger projector so I may have been expecting too much.

Power brick is bulky. No lens cover. No built in tilt adjustment.

Other Thoughts: I am amazed at how much they've crammed into this tiny unit. I'd be even happier if it was cheaper, but for the price its still a great deal.

4 out of 5 eggsLG PW800 1280x800 Portable LED Projector

Pros: -Small footprint and lightweight making it very easy to carry around (very portable)
-Comes with light blue plastic skin protector
-Comes with remote control
-The specs state 800 ANSI Lumens which is bright in my opinion
-Specs say 1280x800 but for us normal people...it can do Standard Definition size (SD) and Hi Definition size (HD) as well as Wide Screen formatting
-The display is truly amazing! I can get a 60" screen projected on the wall at just 5 ft away! The amazing part is that it's crystal clear too!
-Can project onto white walls wonderfully (<---is that such a word?)...anyways, it can project onto any white surface fine although you'd want it flat for good picture quality.
-Auto adjusts the tilt of the image depending if you're pointing it straight or at a steep angle so the image looks "flat" onto the surface.
-Built in screw hole on the bottom (like cameras) so you can mount onto any regular tripod
-Comes with awesome inputs & output:
1x Coaxial Port - for Cable TV or older equipment input
1x HDMI - connects to PC, Laptop, tablets and Blu Ray players
1x Audio/Video input - used with included A/V cables for RCA
cables
1x USB (2.0) port - thumbdrives, external hard drives Z(3.5" or full
5")
1x VGA port - for PC input or laptop input
1x Audio (headphones) out - to connect to headphones or stereo amp
-Comes with built in speakers
-Built in DTV Tuner - great if you have Cable TV or even just a regular antennae!
-Supports WiDi/Miracast - great for my Android devices to wireless stream video content to this projector
-Supports MP4 playback and ripped DVD/BluRay via USB
-3D ready - supports 3D BluRay quality videos and projects them in 3D format onto the screen
-Built in joystick (on the top) is awesome when you don't have remote handy for navigation (also doubles as the power button)
-It does get a little hot to the touch after an hours worth of watching but nothing burning, besides it's very well ventilated and there's a built in fan
-Lastly, it has a built in depth of view slider to adjust image quality depending on how close or far the projector is to the wall.

Cons: -Bulky power brick
-Short power cords
-No legs or pegs to help direct the projector up (or down)
-No cover for the lens, may get dust particles or (worst) scratches on it
-Power button should be separate from joystick, it gets hard (without remote) to hold he power button down until the unit totally shuts down.
-Does not support all H.24 codecs, especially audio. I'm not too familiar with formats, codecs and such but although it played most video formats (mpg, divx, avi) that I put in, some of the audio formats did not work properly.
-The colors representation is awesome, but the black levels weren't as good as my LED TV

Other Thoughts: This projector is awesome. It's lightweight, well built (quality), small footprint sized and comes with the bare accessories to get it up and runnning in no time. It even comes with a screw pin hole thingee on the bottom so you can use it with regular tripods.

The colors are vibrant, it creates an amazingly large picture for its small size and the resolution isn't bad either. Even in full daylight, I was able to project to the walls and ceiling and be able to make out the video that was being played. When night time came (or when no lights were turned on), the image was bright and the colors popped just like my LED TV! The only issue was the black/dark areas were just not as dark or black as my LED TV...but definitely not a deal breaker at all either.

It played most of the video formats I threw at it. The miss and hit audio formats were more of an issue that can be fixed rather than blaming it on the projector's fault for not being able to read it.

The remote control is functional. It's not the best, but it gets the job done right. The IR is located on the back of the projector.

The available inputs are more than enough to get a video played through the projector (Coaxial, VGA, HDMI, RCA). The only thing missing is WiFi (but it does support Miracast).

Testing:
As a first test, I placed the LG projector about 6 feet from the wall and sat literally next to it. Since there was a screw hole mount thingee on the bottom, I mounted it right onto my tripod (that I normally use for my camera). The visible screen size in wide format was amazing at approx. 60". Even bigger than my 55" LED TV I had in the other living room! My kids went nuts watching Big Hero 6!

Because the speakers didn't produce enough audio to even hear over when the fans kicked in, I plugged it into my JBL bluetooth speakers and it was great!

My advice:
This is my very first projector and so far it's blowing my mind! If you can afford it, I would highly recommend it especially to anyone looking for a portable projector. If you can get passed the small flaws, then this becomes a portable, quality well built projector that plays your movies via USB! What else do you need for a back yard movie night?

The only major gripes are the big power brick along with short power wires, no cover for the lens and the barely-can-hear speakers.
