2 out of 5 eggsDIM

Pros: reads usb drive video media

Cons: Very dim

Other Thoughts: you get what you pay for. okay for business use

4 out of 5 eggsNice for travel

Pros: auto keystone
4 different projection positions (front, rear, ceiling-mounted front, ceiling-mounted rear)
USB input
HDMI out
internal battery
headphone jack
remote

The source is manually selected. The source is greyed out when there is no signal.

It has very nice features. It can play music, movies, view Microsoft office files (in older and newer file extensions: doc and docx, xls and xlsx) powerpoint, word, excel, pdf, and images directly from USB. It uses Picsel File Viewer to view powerpoint slides, word docs, excel spreadsheets, and pdf documents.

Cons: It's not bright enough to view well at 8 feet. The room must be dark to get a nice crisp image.

Other Thoughts: This is nice for on the go, for vacations, etc. For 100 lumens, it's a bit pricy.

4 out of 5 eggsEasy to use, nice to have!

Pros: - Battery lasts a few hours
- Sound is good enough for instructional videos
- Helps keep multiple children occupied, rather than swarming around the tablet or phone

Cons: - Can get really hot
- Little warning before the battery goes

Other Thoughts: I really didn't know what I was going to use this for when I accepted a review unit. I figured it would be a novelty item and then it would sit in my office to be used once and a while.
Truth is this thing is really handy.
When I am out of the office I can use this to share documents or presentations easily to a few people. My wife used it to project holiday movies when one of her cooking classes for children finished up 30 minutes early. I've used it in my garage to display how-to videos while I'm working on my car.
This is one of those items where you didn't *need* it before you got it. But then once you have it you really can't see how you got through your week without it.
The picture is crisp, but the low resolution does mean that pictures can, at times, look a little off. The sound is also not great. Overall, however, this device is awesome. If you need a travel projector, and don't need a super high definition unit with 4k resolution, get it. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little guy!

Pros: Everything works right out of the box as it should. This projector is tiny and can easily fit in a pocket, pouch, or just about anywhere you like. The image is quite nice with very good color and overall picture quality. The built in speakers are convenient and further add to its portability. Wireless connectivity is awesome! Screen mirroring works well with Android devices. The USB and HDMI inputs are there for everything else. The headphone jack allows added flexibility. The picture looks pretty good at 100 inches especially for something this small. Battery last for about 2 hours and the power supply will keep you going after that should you need it.

Cons: The speakers are not very loud, about like a cellphone! Sometimes I have to reboot my Samsung Galaxy S6 to get the connection established. Room needs to be pretty dark to get the best image quality.

Other Thoughts: I still can't believe how small it is and the image that it produces for such a little guy. Sure there are plenty of better projectors out there but this thing was built for portability and it excels at it. I use it with my phone usually while streaming videos and I use my Bluetooth stereo for sound and it works very well. I'm very happy to be able to watch a movie on my garage wall while working on the cars or on the kitchen cabinet while cooking or entertaining guests. It's so portable I can use it just about anywhere and as long as the surface is white it looks very good and all with no cables needed. Of course it looks best on a projector screen but I've found it looks good enough on a white wall.

5 out of 5 eggsA great little projector!

Pros: Definitely a very little projector! The pictures make it look much larger than it actually is. I have a fairly large hand, and this projector is able to fit almost entirely on my palm. It’s an excellent size and is easy to place anywhere convenient.

One of the most appreciated features on this projector is the USB port. Currently, I have it setup with a Chromecast, and I do not need but one outlet for power. The Chromecast can be powered by this projector while sitting in the HDMI input. Combined with the battery, it makes for an excellent portable screen!

Speaking of the battery, I was able to watch about an hour and a half of a movie before it died. That’s not too bad at all. Given the possible size of the battery, that’s a relatively long time. Certainly keep the power cord with you, though.

Other than video, I put a couple of recent presentations on the projector to see if the aspect ratios held to the slide templates (4:3 and 16:9). Both looked just fine, no compressing or stretching.

There are also plenty of options to configure the picture, and I recommend taking advantage of this when projecting this video onto the wall. There will be some offsetting of color that should be corrected for (depending on the color of the wall). Adjust contrast and brightness as needed, but there are also options for warmth of color. Overall, it’s relatively easy to adjust to the viewing surface, as there is also an option for vertical keystone (trapezoid) adjustment.

Cons: It would be nice if horizontal keystone was also an adjustable option. Yes, if the presenting surface is not level vertically, you can fix it, but I feel like horizontal adjustment should be possible as well. Even a little would make it much easier to adjust to the screen or wall.

While it is incredibly convenient that this projector can be mounted on a tripod mount (or similar), this projector could benefit from having a small “base,” if you will, that could be used for adjusting the rotation/angle of the projector as it sits. Currently I’m stuck with having to put paper or other items underneath in order to get the right height to the wall. The base would only need to offer an inch or two, plus angle flexibility, in order for projecting to be perfect.

It’s nice for me, with my Android phone, to be able to wireless cast to the projector; however, my iPad is mostly useless when attempting to hook directly with this projector. It’s not a huge problem that it doesn’t support Apple, but it’s certainly very surprising.

I realize this projector isn’t meant for audio, but a tin can probably has better acoustics than this speaker. I’ll be leaving it hooked up to an external speaker when possible.

Other Thoughts: I mention one of the cons being the speaker. There is indeed a 3.5mm jack for output to a speaker, which makes it a little more bearable for audio. A good addition to purchase would be a Bluetooth transmitter to allow for connecting wirelessly to external speakers.

More than anything, I appreciate this projector’s portability. This projector has been in both the master and spare bedroom of my apartment, my office at work, and my kitchen/dining room area. Paired with my Chromecast, it’s great to have a “let me show you this cool video!” option to take with me.

There are a few downsides, but all things considered, the variety of features and portability make this projector a must-buy.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful.

Pros: An absolutely impressive projector combined with compact size make the PV150G a no-contest solution for home theater projection. HDMI & USB support provide plenty of output methods both directly from USB streaming devices, as well as display output from laptops, etc.

I expected to see some corners cut on picture quality and brightness, but to my surprise this little projector packs quite a punch. Even more impressive was the automatic keystoning feature which scales the image to correct aspect ratio when the projector is tilted/slanted. The PV150G perfectly handles angled projection and adjusts on-the-fly as you move or turn the projector to manipulate the image. In all scenarios it provided a clean, perfectly scaled image.

With both streamed USB video and direct display output from my PC, there was no quality loss, audio lag, or any other distortion. It handled everything I threw at it beautifully.

The image seemed perfectly well-lit, so there are no compromises being made to the lighting setup in the projector either.

Cons: Onboard speakers are quite disappointing, quality and volume are quite low. That's not too surprising given the compact size and external options. I won't punish the score for that since it's not designed to be an audio solution.

Given the projector's compact size, some of the buttons can be difficult to press especially with all of the cables hooked up. It may require a bit of finesse to properly handle.

Other Thoughts: No HDMI cable included, which could be problematic if you're short on cables. Make sure you have the necessary USB/HDMI cables for your setup!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Little Projector

Pros: Very Small - 10 times smaller than the portable projector I had to use for presentations just 5 years ago. Can fit in your hand.

Lightweight - No issue taking the unit on the road for work or out with the family. Had it in my laptop bag for 10 days, and even forgot I had it in there when I didn't need it.

Image Adjustment - Projector will properly align the projected image, even when the surface is slanted.

Tripod Use - You are able to screw in a tripod. I used a camera flexible tripod and wrapped it around a pole outside for watching a movie.

Connections: USB, HDMI and Wireless. All three options worked excellent. Wireless tended to have some issues, but that was more about the wireless network. Able to play video and display pictures from my phone at the end of the meetings.

Remote: Very simple and easy to use. Small in size, but not too small.

Battery Life: Consistently got 2Hrs+ from the unit, which really helped when an extension cord was unable to be found.

Price: My last projector for work cost my company $880 and didn't function as well and was far bigger. Hard to find a better a value for a projector, mini or not.

Bulb life and Performance: You will not find a better combination for a projector. Have used it for over 40 hours without issue and no dimming.

Movies: No issues with wirelessly projecting Netflix and had no problems with movie files, not one shutter.

Cons: Sound: Is not acceptable for meetings, or any room with the slightest noise. Use speakers and the issue goes away.

Price changes: Seems to go on sale a lot.

Presentations: Not idea due to lack of control. Had the laptop do the controlling of PPT slides. Minor issue, but would have preferred to use a presentation on a USB.

Brightness: Use a white background!!!

Other Thoughts: If you have to give work presentations on the road, want to play video games anywhere or just want to impress your friends, buy this projector. Didn't plan on loving it, but other than a weakness with PPT, it is amazing for the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tiny projector

Pros: Wow, so this little projector is impressive. Let me say right off that you must connect to it HDMI, you can use the USB connection for storage devices only not a PC. It natively plays MKV and MP4 video files direct from a USB stick. You can take this on vacation and watch movies you have stored on a USB stick, great for entertaining the kids.

This worked well on any flat surface, but brightness is an issue so you will need a dark room.

I paired this projector with a streaming stick and was able to easily stream movies and TV shows from various popular services. I found myself streaming soccer games in whatever room I felt like being in rather than worrying about who wanted to watch something on our main TV.

This has also been very convenient to setup when the kids are fighting about what they want to watch as it even runs on a battery so it is a very versatile solution.

It also natively supports many picture formats so if you want to show pictures of your recent vacation you could just toss the pics or videos on a USB stick and off you go.

Obviously this comes in very handy for business presentations, it easily works with any laptop assuming you have some way of outputting to HDMI. You might need to get an adapter if your laptop only has VGA, DVI or Display port.

I found the controls easy to use. The remote was easy enough.

Cons: List Price, but it seems to go on sale a lot for as much as %50 off
Not as bright as I would like
Does not come with an HDMI cable.
Location of the power button is between the HDMI and USB port making it difficult to use while a streaming stick is installed and powered by the USB

Other Thoughts: The more I use this projector the more I like it. Paired with a streaming stick it is the perfect combo for entertainment in any room. It makes presentations a breeze. I had to really get picky to find any cons, the unit is not 100% perfect, but overall I still felt it was worth 5 eggs.

It is truly a multipurpose device, it can be used for work, or entertainment at home or while traveling.

5 out of 5 eggsLG Minibeam

Pros: Super easy setup
Runs on battery and AC
Surprisingly bright
HDMI, USB, and speaker ports
Tripod mount

Cons: Weak speaker

Other Thoughts: Fifteen years ago, when I started training professionally, the projector I had to travel with practically needed a trailer hitch and wheels to move around, and despite its size it wasn’t very bright, and it was hugely expensive. This device, on the other hand, is affordable, tiny, light, and surprisingly bright. Not bright like the pros use for a big conference room, but more than adequate for a living room with normal lighting, or a small meeting room.

As soon as I unpacked and set it up (which simply involves plugging it in to charge the internal battery) I stuck my thumb drive in to the USB slot, turned it on, and pushed the USB button on the remote. After a moment the contents of the thumb drive showed up and I gave the projector a test drive (navigation is easy and intuitive).
I started with an m4v movie to see if there was any stuttering or lag. There was none, the movie played smoothly with no hiccups. The sound wasn’t very good, but at least it was loud enough to fill a small room. You’ll be better off with headphones or speakers if you want any sort of bass or serious volume, like when viewing a movie.

Next I tested two PowerPoint presentations using the built in app called Picsel Viewer to run them, and it does a competent job. I was able to use the remote to navigate and the only hitch I ran into was with the projected screen dimensions, the bottom of the slides were clipped. If I were to use the Minibeam for a training I would have to tailor the slides to prevent the clipping.

The second PowerPoint I tested was something I built 15 years ago when I thought animations were cool, to see how the Minibeam handled them. Simply put, it didn’t. Everything showed up on the slide, but I wasn’t able to move through bullets one at a time. If you wanted it use this device for training, you’d need to keep things simple.

For a final test I hooked up my tablet via HDMI and launched Netflix, and again movies streamed smoothly. I don’t know what kind of CPU the Minibeam uses, but it is more than adequate for its intended purpose, and with a proper screen I could see using the Minibeam like a big screen TV. This thing is a hoot to use, and surprisingly powerful for its size.
