Just WOW! 1080p ALSO!
- Pros: Price, 1080p & 1080i supported!, display in general, and available Composite Video to DVI converter dongle.
Internal speakers are hidden.

- Other Thoughts: I do everything from gaming to photoshop and this monitor does it all, and then some.
The display is many times brighter than the BIG Texas computer company’s 20” wide screen LCD and it costs less. The image quality is insane and right on par with big name LCD manufactures like Sxxsung or Singing Sam. No dead piles or defects. It is perfect for doing work but particularly in Photoshop. You can now spread out with the widescreen which is just the best. For gaming you ether lover the new fast LCD’s or you hate them. This one doesn’t ghost but isn’t a CRT replacement either. So for gaming it is still personal preference.
NOW the big extra this monitor offers if HDTV support through the Composite to DVI adapter sold through Scepter. It doesn’t stop there though. This display also can display 1080p HI-DEF! So if you ever buy a PS3 you have the perfect (cost effective) 1080p display ready to go.

Excellent for everything but games and video
- Pros: Excellent Color, Brightness, Sharpness, and Viewing Angles
I am very picky about viewing angles. Most LCDs I researched have the problem of the darker portions of the screen inverting when you view the LCD from slightly below. This Sceptre doesn't have that problem - you truly can view it from the full 170+degrees up, down, left, or right with only slight brightness variations.
The color and sharpness of this monitor are great. The brightness is amazing. I usually run at only 25% and it is already brighter than my laptop.
- Cons: Poor Configuration Menus, refresh glitch.
If you run at the native resolution with a DVI connection, the poor configuration menus are irrelevant. However, with Analog in, if the monitor doesn't auto adjust correctly your in trouble. It is difficult to adjust the horizontal size and position and you can -only- adjust the vertical size, position control is notably absent.
In either VGA or DVI modes, it would be nice to have the option to run at 1-to-1 pixels. I personally hate 4:3 resolutions stretched to 16:10. Again, not a problem if you run at the native resolution.
My biggest gripe about this LCD, though, is it seems to have a glitch where it fails to refresh the screen fast enough. This is most noticeable in games or in movies when there is a lot of panning happening. The motion appears to stutter and you can see what appears to be "tearing". The effect is not unbearable, but it is annoying. There is no ghosting, just stuttering motion.
- Other Thoughts: To diagnose the "refresh glitch", I tested WinXP & Win2k, NVidia 6600GT and ATI9600Pro, analog VGA and DVI, 1024x768 to 1680x1050, 60hz to 85hz, 3 different computers. I talked to tech support, they though I had a bad LCD. I returned it (bought it at Costco so that was easy) and the new LCD still had the same problem. I even wrote my own testing software and found the effect was most clear when attempting to smoothly pan around a larger 2d image.

Great monitor for the price
- Pros: Unbeatable price, awesome picture quality, good looking design.
- Cons: Lasted a little over a year, which isn't too bad considering it was on ALL the time. However, that was because the monitor could not be turned off while the PC was still on, or the monitor would be unable to receive any video signal from my PC, causing you to hard reboot the PC to get a video signal. I always thought this was just because of my video card and updated drives to no avail, but after trying another monitor, I now know it was NOT the video card.
- Other Thoughts: Good for the price, but now that I need a new monitor a year later, I'm going to try a different brand.
Dead Pixel
- Pros: Looks good, Big.
- Cons: One dead pixel, kinda like a car crash your eyes just can't stop looking at it.
- Other Thoughts: Overall I would say if you can stand dead pixels or you don't mind almost what your paying for this is for you.
Highly recommended
- Pros: Excellent screen clarity and quality construction. Works well with the Vista OS.
- Cons: The screen does wobble a bit from left to right when I'm typing very fast and hard on the nearby keyboard.
- Other Thoughts: I'm using this monitor with my newly purchased Gigabyte GeForce 7300 GT 512MB DVI Video Card (using the DVI port) and it looks beautiful! The display is very high quality and fast. The blue lighted "Sceptre" logo isn't a big deal (in fact, I rather like it). The screen does wobble a bit when typing fast and hard on my keyboard, but it's not a big issue. I highly recommend this monitor!
