4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: I got this for free. A buddy of mine brought it over and said I could have it if I could fix it. The power came on, but the monitor was so dim you couldn't see it without a flashlight. Googled it, found out it was a bad capacitor, bought one at Radio Shack for a buck, soldered it in, and the monitor works great. Very good display, love the picture in picture.

Cons: Touch pad is a pain in the neck sometimes. Guess you might get a random capacitor go bad, but they are easy to replace.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing monitor, even today

Pros: I have had this monitor since 2007 and got it on special as an open box buy in a computer store that later closed down. I got a great deal on it (less than $200 if memory serves me correctly) and have been very happy with its performance over the years. In fact, I want to add a second monitor to my setup and I'm looking around for a used FPD2275W to compliment this one! Sure, you don't squeeze 1920 x 1080 out of it so sure, it's not full HD, but the 1680 x 1050 resolution is more than ample for my display purposes. I am not a gamer so I can't speak of it's performance in this regard; my guess is more modern monitors would perform better and the increased contrast ratios would make the gaming experience that much better, too. I use this for music production and have had no problems with it, no ghosting, no dead pixels, nothing. I mean it's been 5 years and it's STILL going as strong as the day I bought it (I hope I haven't jinxed myself with that comment!)

Cons: The touch controls on the monitor can be a little annoying and finicky but I don't tend to use them very often and they shouldn't need to be messed around with once you have the monitor setup the first time you use it.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's nearly 2012 and i'm writing a review on this monitor, that should say something.

Pros: It's lasted this long and there's been absolutely no picture degradation, it performs just like it did out of the box.

Sharp picture for great quality inputs!

Multiple types of inputs (Compnent, VGA, DVI, S-Video, Composite)

I use the Picture-In-Picture functionality all the time. I can surf the internet on my computer and keep up with the football game on my DirecTV!

Also got a speakerbar for this monitor that fits perfectly and sounds great!

Comes with a built-in 4 port USB HUB!

Cons: The touch menu controls can be a little frustrating to use sometimes.

Doesn't handle darks as well as other monitors. My brightness is all the way up.

Doesn't have any HDMI ports, but that's okay- it has a DVI port and HDMI is backwards compatible to DVI.

Other Thoughts: I got this monitor as a Christmas present from my parents way back in (probably) '08 and i've never wanted another monitor. I often take the monitor to LAN parties, and even in its travels, it still performs perfectly. There's absolutely no damage to it (it had some sort of small clip manager on its stand to gather all the wires that go into the inputs, that snapped a year or two ago, but I just unclipped it and it was like it was never there), the 1680x1050 screen shows my games in great clarity, and Gateway has always made quality produects. I still use a REALLY old gateway for running small programs to support my gaming machine! The thing has to be at least 10 years old and it's still strong! Unbelievable work, Gateway! Know that i'll be using this monitor for a long time!

5 out of 5 eggsgreat image

Pros: Very high picture quality, I was quite amazed, blew the other lcd monitors I had away.

Cons: Theres "pressure" buttons on the right side of the monitor, and sometimes they don't work. If the monitor gets unplugged, then when you turn it on it puts a dialog on the screen asking you for your "default language". If the buttons don't work, then the dialog stays on the screen. Its intermittant with my monitor though. Gateway support said to return it, but I haven't. Despite this problem, my next monitor purchase will be this same model.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Equipment!

Pros: Awesome Picture in all the connection types. I love the touch sensitive buttons and the menu is great. Getting use to the soft touch does have a slight learning curve. Nothing bad, just sensitive is all! I use this monitor on my gaming rig because of the down right beauty of the picture quality. I am almost ashamed to admit it but it really does have a better picture quality than my Hi-Def Television. Connecting 2 Pcs and 3 other sources using Composite, Component or S-Video are easy and adding 4 USB ports didn’t hurt it any either

Cons: 2 things I found – 1.- No speakers included but you really didn’t want a sound bar anyway! 2nd - Not waiting until now to buy; the price has dropped $200 since I bought it. THAT’S OK! I’ll just go out and get another at this price—Thanks NewEgg!!

Other Thoughts: I could fill two pages more with good thoughts and recommendations for this monitor - Do yourself a favor, treat yourself to something nice – BUY THIS ONE!

4 out of 5 eggsGood Job Gateway

Pros: Amazing picture. The touch sensitive buttons are stylish and the menu is easy to use. Can Switch between two computers and three tv's if you really wanted to have it all hooked up at the same time.

Cons: Mine came with a dead pixel. Amazingly it went away. No speakers... but thats not really a con because most monitor speakers are horrible. There is also a 24" version that is wayyyyy nicer but wayyyyy more expensive. Newegg doesn't have the 24".

Other Thoughts: Good for a dorm because it's a smart way to replace a small TV. Hook up your PC, game console (works good with PS3 and Wii), dvd player and sat/cable into this and switch between them when you want.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat monitor

Pros: AWESOME monitor! Hookups for high def, pc's whatever. Xbox360 looks awesome on it, you can even play with your computer showing in PIP. You won't find another monitor that can do that.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: Great usb hub built into the side. Don't forget this is a High Def TV for your games!

5 out of 5 eggsVery good monitor

Pros: Ive had this monitor for over a year and have virtually no problems. Excelent picture, contrast, color and brightness. Very good viewing angles, actually i dont think ive ever seen a better quality lcd monitor. Also the tilt and rotate features works very well, it partially locks in at 90 degree angles. It rotates to 90 degrees counter clockwise, and 180 degrees clockwise (dont know why anyone wants to view it upside down) Software that comes with it is not required but does work well. has a picture tuner and automatic picture rotater program that will rotate the windows display when you physically rotate the monitor. very cool!

Cons: Price maybe, aver a year ago i got this monitor for about $500. it has come down a lot since then, so now its a great deal. only real problem ive had was my video card for two different computers did not support the native 1680x1050 dvi resolution even though the card, drivers and manufacturers website listed it as a compatible resolution. VGA works at proper resolution, however dvi is the right answer.

Other Thoughts: Also, this monitor has a few new technologies or processes which disply non native resolutions very well. many lcds look horrible on non native resolutions but this one is very close. I highly reccomend this monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor

Pros: This is a great monitor No Ghosting, which is great for games and fast moving movies. It is cheap for what you get. Comes with USB ports Speakers and touch control system. Includes many outputs. No dead Pixels on mine. Great Monitor Reccomend it.

Cons: None, I can think of it doesnt have height adjustment though but its not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: Sturdy Base Compact. Great Buy.

4 out of 5 eggsnot bad at all

Pros: very nice picture. bright. good contrast. will hook up to just about anything. pip works great. accurate color when calibrated using the included software.

Cons: mine came with 1 red pixel in the right hand top part of the screen. never notice it unless screen is black in that part. will some times lock up or take a long time to take away the input selection info box. just pull the plug and put back and works fine. only happens once a month or longer so no big deal.

Other Thoughts: i am happy with this monitor. i run my xbox, ps2, computer and a cable box in to this thing. the menu system is the best i have seen on any monitor. really a great great monitor. i did not buy this from new egg as they did not have it when i got it.
