View your video games, digital movies and images in a whole new way with this Gateway 24-inch LCD monitor!
Movie enthusiasts will love the widescreen display since most films are presented in a similar aspect ratio. With this Gateway monitor, there's no need to sacrifice visual real estate for black bars! Video gamers will also love the widescreen layout for increased field of view during intense first person shooters. Finally, the wider view helps increase productivity when you can open documents side by side for comparisons.
Whatever you view will look fantastic, thanks to the 2000:1 contrast ratio and over 16 million display colors. When you upgrade to an Gateway monitor you'll notice the difference!
Pros: Wish there was a zero rating... Worked fine for 9 days and then stated showing 'spots' on the screen. Spots are about .5" tall by 2" wide but luckly at the bottom of screen. Unable to return since I've tossed out the box and newegg requires this for a return...
Cons: Yes - that above WAS the "PROS"... This monitor is horrible to use... The menu system is an absolute nightmare to work with. Additionally, the freaking thing decides when IT thinks there is a video signal vs. allowing you to turn the freaking thing ON or OFF... Absolutely the worse device I've ever used!!!! AVOID THIS MONITOR AT ALL COST UNLESS THEY GIVE YOU ONE FREE!!!

It was just alright for me

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Large, adjustable tilt and height, pivots. 1900x1200 is better than 1900x1280. HDMI is good to have for nextgen consoles. Games look awesome.
Cons: Everything else however, not so much:
Where to start, how bout the nit picky things. the touch screen interface is an abomination, imputing a command is not instantaneous, why does my monitor lag on basic button presses? it's heavy, really heavy, I suppose this could be a con so it's worth mentioning. the touch screen, which lights up at all times, has a night mode which dims the light, only problem is that when you turn it off the light goes back to second sun mode, very poor design.
Ok now for the big things. Color reproduction on this thing is possibly the worst I've seen on an LCD, and maybe even some CRTs. It has it's own color temperature settings built in, the only problem is that every single setting is way too warm, the only preset somewhat usable is cold, and even that gives the screen an orange tint. on the subject of the screen, it is way to bright, even at the lowest brightness I would still recommend some sort of ambient light.
Other Thoughts: The auto detect thing that it has to determine what input you want to use is horrid too. say you are playing the 360 on it or what have you, you turn it off, you have to wait however many seconds for it to auto detect that you don't have a signal anymore, before it switches back to normal.
Movies look atrocious on this thing, the top part of the screen fades due to the hideous view angle, unless you sit in such a way that you are looking at a downward angle, who does that?
The first unit I bought was defective, you see, the colors were all wrong, too orange no matter what, only to find out that it wasn't defective upon exchanging it for another unit with identical problems, Gateway needs to just stick to computers I think
I came from a much cheaper, clearly lower grade Samsung SyncMaster 220wm which had light years better picture. The only reason I still use this monitor is for the size and the HDMI input, and the fact that I got a great deal on it.

Other Thoughts: I currently own 4 Gateway 24" monitors. This one, the FHD2401, I purchased 2 months ago. The other three are model FHD2400 which I have owned for the past 2 years. I love these monitors and if I could have bought a 4th 2400 to complete my set I would have, but it was no longer available. I haven't had a single issue with this monitor (or the other ones).
Differences between the two models: The 2400 has a vertical height adjustment and two USB ports on the side of the monitor. The 2401 does not - it's a stripped down cheaper version, however I still think it's a good value for the sale price here on newegg.
This is a GLOSSY screen not matte - I don't know why most product descriptions don't include this yet.
I have not had a problem with the digital menu - I love that it has no buttons on the front.

Very Dimm bad monitor
Reviewed By: Mike on 11/25/2009
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: less than 1 day
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Cheap 24" monitor, fast Newegg shipment.
Cons: This monitor is either too dimm or washed out not matter what the contrast and brightness settings are. Very dark darks with, eye killing whites....
SAVE YOUR MONEY DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR.
Side by side with another 24" monitor, the other monitor is 10 times nicer picture at only little more money.
Other Thoughts: Do not buy this monitor, this is the worst LCD monitor picture I have ever seen.
I am hoping to try and Return this for a different monitor.
Just trying to save some of you the trouble.
