5 out of 5 eggsRe: boot problems

Comments: My monitor also started doing that. You must be hooked up with the DVI cable, also?
Here's a way around it: Connect BOTH the DVI and analog cable from your video card to your monitor.
When you boot, your monitor will use the analog signal for the low resolution boot screens, and will automatically switch to DVI when at the windows login screen.

4 out of 5 eggsSome boot difficulties

Comments: This is the finest LCD monitor I have ever had for visual quality. But it has a quirk I haven't yet figured out. The first one simply wouldn't produce an image after four reboots of my machine. I RMA'd it and NewEgg had a new one at my door within days. But, recently, the new one diplays similar problems. I now "play games" with it before booting. I switch on the monitor and let the pixels become gray *before* booting the machine. The monitor sometimes *still* fails to produce an image until 20 seconds or so after machine boot. Since this is similar to the problem the old one had I suspect it's a ViewSonic anomaly of some sort.

5 out of 5 eggsOut of control!

Comments: Short and sweet: Buy it! The quality is untouchable! Just use the DVI and scrap the VGA. Trust me, you won't find a better product for the money. Lucky for me, the pixel fairy didn't get in my box but from reading these reviews, viewsonics 3 mascots do a good job of scaring her off. Also, Newegg is still at the top of thier game but that goes without saying. Great job all around!

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

Comments: Okay, I'll admit it. I was scared to death that I was going to get a monitor with 7 dead pixels. So scared, in fact, that I logged into my account to cancel my order and buy it from a local brick and mortar office supply depot...
Luckily, It was too late. The monitor arrived in perfect condition, with ZERO dead pixels. I'm batting 1000 with LCD monitors from newegg. I purchased my first LCD from newegg 2 years ago, also a Viewsonic ( vp171b ) and it had zero dead pixels also.

I highly recommend newegg, viewsonic, fedex...wait a minute...am I getting paid for this? lol

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing LCD

Comments: This was my first LCD monitor, though I have used many before at work and at friend's houses. This is by far the best LCD I have ever used. Text is crystal clear, perfectly smooth and easy to read. Games look stunning, and believe it or not, I actually found a performance upgrade with this monitor. For those of you that have higher end cards whose optimum resolutions aren't supported by your monitor, you are not getting full performance from your card. My old 17" CRT couldn't go above 1280x960 and was taking away from my 6800, which's optimum resolution is 1600x1200. So playing games now on 1600x1200 gives me a small increase in Frames Per Second. I'd like to add there is absolutely no ghosting, and the DVI cable is an insane upgrade over traditional VGA. Anyone using this monitor with VGA should immediately throw in the DVI cable for even more stunning picture. Highly recommended monitor. Only fault is a couple dead pixels, but they aren't noticeable unless the screen is completely black.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful!

Comments: Outstanding picture, very easy on my eyes which were constantly hurting after programming on my old 22" CRT for long hours. The slim bezel is great, I have this 20" sandwiched between two 17" VP171B's and I cannot imagine it getting much better! Only complaint is that the built in USB hub powers down when you shut off the screen.

5 out of 5 eggsSWEET

Comments: I can't say enough about how impressed I am with this lcd. The outside edge bezel is crazy thin and the monitor screen is right to the edge of the bezel. There is no black dead space on the edge like most crts. I've noticed zero dead pixels so far. The 90 degree tilt is very usefull and the software orientation switch is painless. Adobe and Macromedia software look great on this machine with a large 1600x1200 workspace. Do not use smaller than 1600x1200 or picture will appear to blur. New Egg is great, Ordered this thing at 5:00pm on a Thursday night and received it by Friday at 11:00am. Look at it today, get it by tomorrow, SWEET PC and TV, great service.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome gaming monitor!

Comments: This monitor is hands down the cream of the crop when it comes to gaming LCD monitors. It can actually bring life back into old games and I sware to you that you will be installing/playing your old games just to play them again on this monitor. Only 'slight' problem I've had so far (2 weeks) is that I get a few "Flashing Pixels" on the monitor... and I have to turn it off and back on a few times until there's no flashing pixels. Strangest thing... but it doesn't matter... this thing rips!

5 out of 5 eggsA Welcome Relief

Comments: I've only had this bad boy for a couple of days now, but I feel compelled to review it asap. Like the others have mentioned, I too, will not go back to CRT again. LCD has CRT beat hands down, just a matter of time before CRT fades into the sunset. This Viewsonic gives a very eye friendly view, unlike my 21 inch CRT it replaced, which, in retrospect was hard on my eyes. I think the ports could have been made easier to access, but they're all mostly designed this way. The colors are richer than a CRT. The button to the left of the power button allows you to switch between d sub and dvi. Operates cooler than a CRT. No issues whatsoever for gaming, just vibrant, bright , rich colors. Don't be concerned about the 1600/1200 native resolution, either, the text is VERY clear. But then I'm also running Nvidia 6800GT oc with it.Mine didn't have any "dead" pixels, they all survived. I've had 4 monitors, all CRT before this, I'll ALWAYS choose LCD over them. This Viewsonic is slightly expensive, but it's a darn good one. Quit with your cognitive dissonance and go ahead and get this thing. You aren't getting any younger!
