2 out of 5 eggsAlways had issues

Pros: Pros: it worked for long enough to go just past warranty.

Cons: Cons:

This monitor ALWAYS makes a high pitched squealing sound (was told by customer service that this is 'sometimes normal'), and lasted just long enough to be beyond standard warranty... and then completely died in a hideous way. I really wish I had followed my gut and returned it the instant I thought something was wrong when I got it and saved myself the headache of dealing with a dead monitor now.

Other Thoughts: This monitor will work. But it will give out on your fairly early. In twenty years of owning computers I've never had a monitor die on me in less than ten years. The only reason I got this monitor was because I moved and left my old monitor at my dad's so he could have a desktop computer of his own, and that monitor is still working just fine, ten years later. I really regret that decision now, three years and three months into owning this one.

3 out of 5 eggsThe avaricious pay twice

Pros: -Cheap enough that you can buy two of these and connect them together for about the same price as a single 23/24"
-Lightweight @ 6lbs (like all LED lcds)

Cons: -Only VGA, no dvi or hdmi
-1366x768 @ 60Hz max resolution, and is ridiculous.
This resolution is only good for watching movies in full-screen.

A wide resolution is only good when either the screen is large (23",etc), or its the full 1920x1080 or something similar so the icons are much smaller and you can actually multi-task and not feel like you're working in a funnel. BTW 16:10 is probably prefered over 16:9
-Text looks very poor at any other resolution other than optimal one mentioned above
-Viewing angle isn't the best. Very annoying for watching films from far away. Could also be a huge problem if I decided to buy a second for dual-screen mode. I don't know what causes some monitors to differ from others. I had a 19" Samsung from 2003 that had excellent viewing angle, and another NEC 17" from 2003 that was as bad as this LED. If you look at text from 6inches above your sitting height, it becomes bright and blurry. If you go 6 inches below, it becomes reddish and sharper.

Other Thoughts: I prefer LED's over LCD's as they're lighter, consume less power and don't contain mercury but I'm not very impressed with the picture quality.

I'm going to try to return this and get a bigger ViewSonic. The viewing angle might not be better but with a bigger screen it will negate the problem significantly. It's 2011, my advice is get something with DVI or HDMI! I do a lot of reading online.. a better monitor is cheaper than glasses.
