4 out of 5 eggsWarning: shiny screen

Pros: Single-point touch works quite well in Linux. It also works when used as part of a multi-monitor array once you've configured the xinput device with the right coordinate transformation matrix.

Cons: The glossy finish gave me headaches until I bought an expensive anti-glare film. Now the viewing angle has suffered somewhat when compared to the inexpensive matte-finish monitor next to it. This is a disappointing result for a touch-screen technology whose main benefit is that it doesn't require extra layers of film on top of the display surface.

Another problem with the glossy finish is that the finger doesn't glide along the surface very smoothly. Anti-glare film fixes that, too.

Screen-touching registers when your finger or pointing object is roughly a millimeter from the display surface. This takes a little getting used to, because of unexpected results while pressing or releasing.

Other Thoughts: Unless you're a fan of glossy screens, plan to spend money and time for an anti-glare film to stick to the surface. It is difficult to apply a filter to such a large screen even with an abundance of caution and patience.

Can we start listing glossy/matte finish in product specifications, please?

3 out of 5 eggsOptical touch, Great starter for touch input

Pros: Decent monitor, at least average display
Touch capable

> Because this monitor is optical, it is way cheaper than capacitive monitors, and works very similarly. It is a durable and versatile monitor that is a great choice for anyone new to touch input. It works perfectly with navigating Windows 8's start screen and plays solitaire like a champ. Just remember to clear a space to put it in arms reach, I made the mistake of putting it where my old monitor rested... A full arms reach away from where I sit.

> The optical touch technology allows for basically anything to trigger a touch, unlike a capacitive screen. You can use a sock, a pencil (not well advised), your tounge (also not well advised, not unless it's clean anyways). Anything that approaches the screen that is too small, however, won't be registered by the optics unless it's near the center.
I opted for an old thin glow stick as my sort of "magic wand", since it is thick enough to touch on all parts of the screen and the smooth plastic gives little friction.

Cons: Optical touch
Large bezel
Soft keys on bezel

> My main complaint comes from the large bezel, I assume also a result of it being optical. Using Windows 8 is a real hassle because I can't use the corners or swipe from the sides very easily.

> It is also a tad inaccurate around the edges, and very much so on the top, not helping the fact I can't even get my finger immediately close enough to them. It is very difficult to close tabs in my web browser this way.

> The soft keys can be troublesome when the screen is in use by a friend or younger relative who aren't so nimble with their hands. A glance of the finger and the OSD appears.

> As I stated above, optical makes the touch input versatile, but it can also be a nightmare. Every once in a while, a wee little bug wanders into my room looking for some warmth, and lands on my screen. Suddenly, clicks ahoy! The bug is small enough it seems to start clicking multiple times around where it lands on the screen, effectively messing up anything I'm doing.

Other Thoughts: After owning this for six months, I am pleased with the display but very disappointed in its performance as a touch screen. As an optical display, I can understand it only having two finger touch though (or 1.5 finger as I like to call it, because using two fingers for more than pinching doesn't always work right).

There is an oddity in the bezel but I don't know the internals so I can't say for sure if it causes any issues (or if it's specific to my monitor or not). There is a gap between the screen and the bezel obviously where the optical sensors go, but it isn't even all around. the plastic is flush with the inside of the bezel on the left and right sides, but it seems to drop off into the bezel on the bottom's right, the right side's top, and there is no plastic in the top at all.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but wouldn't Recommend with Windows 8

Pros: As a basic business monitor, its works fine. Great build quality and a good picture.

Cons: I find it pretty terrible as a touchscreen for Windows 8 since W8 requires swiping from the edges of the screen for its gestures. The giant bezel gets in the way and its frustrating to use. If you are planning to use this with Windows 8, spend the extra money and go with something

Other Thoughts: I don't write reviews often -- I wanted to do this so others would think twice about purchasing this for use with Windows 8. I'm a big fan of Windows 8, but this is clearly not the way to experience it.

4 out of 5 eggsA really nice touch screen!

Pros: A great monitor that has multi touch! I have had this monitor for a few months and I have to say it really looks good. People have said that the start menu right side edge swipe doesn't work. I have not had a problem with it at all. My 2 year old loves the fresh paint program finger painting without the mess, this thing is crazy cool. It is a very nice display clean and clear. the glossy screen has vivid colors and deep contrast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I have not done any gaming with it, so I can't tell you how it responds. I don't think gamers would use a touch screen.
Response Time of 5ms is not a problem unless you are gaming. I want to thank the others who reviewed this monitor, you helped me make a great purchase. Thanks Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Display

Pros: Windows 8 plug 'n' play but you do need the INF for the display not the HID touch parts . Use the windows 7 INF
because there is no windows 8 INF file . The windows 7 file works flawlessly on two boxes. One hooked to DVI the other
VESA both Windows 8 Pro . The bottom line is it's compatible with windows 7 and 8 . See cons.

Cons: Only two fingers at a time . It takes a minimum of five to
be windows certified . Not a big deal with 7 or 8 but 9 or
whatever they call the next os may need the extra fingers
.
The Magix software "MAGIX Video easy SE" when you sign up you only get a code to take $15 of a purchase from MAGIX not the software unlock code.

No HDMI port . But that's not all that bad of a thing most
video cards still have DVI ports.

Other Thoughts: Over all well worth the money .
Tablet PC magic appearance in control panel with usb cable hookup .
Don't forget to calibrate .

5 out of 5 eggsViewSonic

Pros: This is a fantastic deal for the price!

Cons: None for now!

Other Thoughts: I'm used to a larger monitor but I have another ViewSonic monitor the same size so I'm thinking of setting up a dual display. I just don't know how that will work. (One touch panel and one that isn't.) This is my third ViewSonic monitor and I've been happy with them all!

3 out of 5 eggsWho needs now days DVI, VGA?

Pros: this is 21 century. DVI not effective anymore, as it cannot provide Video and Audio together.

HDMI supports both Video and Audio, together or separate, which make such devices be very efficient!!!

Cons: DVI signal is limited to Video signal only.

Other Thoughts: HDMI and MHL are the best devices to get Video and Audio with less media attached, even wireless HDMI is better for cableless environment.
