With Windows 8 compatible Dual Point Optical technology, the TD2420 provides a fun and interactive experience to engage users. Equipped with 1920x1080 Full HD resolution, and 20,000,000:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio, the ViewSonic TD2420 delivers extremely sharp and crisp images. As a complete multimedia package, the display also includes a pair of integrated 2-watt speakers with SRS Premium Sound. HDMI, VGA, and DVI inputs provide flexible and convenient connectivity, while a VESA-mountable design offers additional convenience for use as a wall-mounted display. The versatile TD2420 is the one-stop solution for your multi-touch display needs.
Dual point optical touch utilizes two or more image sensors that are usually placed around the edges of a display. These sensors allow the touch surface to recognize two contact points simultaneously, and provide users with direct interaction by allowing two-finger gestures such as zoom in/out, rotations, and two-finger taps. Because of optical touch's scalability, versatility, and affordability, it is becoming a popular technology for use on large format displays. In addition, the touch experience offered by optical touch is just as responsive and accurate as that of Projected Capacitive touch technology. Unlike Projected Capacitive touch, however, optical touch does not require a conductive object for touch recognition. As such, this technology is extremely useful in gloved environments such as hospitals and dental offices, or for use with interactive stylus pens.
The term "LED monitor" generally refers to a monitor with a LCD panel and a LED backlight. A typical LCD monitor uses cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) as a light source to illuminate the LCD panel. In an LED backlit monitor, white LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are used as the light source. Environmentally friendly LED backlights provide the following benefits:
TD2420's multi-touch interface and Full HD resolution makes it an ideal touch solution for both commercial and consumer applications. It gives commercial users the capability to create a direct and interactive user experience for their customers. Full HD resolution and high Dynamic Contrast Ratio delivers ultra image quality and color accuracy. Scratch-resistant 7H surface hardness ensures the TD2420 can withstand heavy usage in a high traffic environment while maintaining a high quality touch experience.
ViewSonic's proprietary Eco-mode function comes standard with the TD2420. When you don't need all of the powerful features that the TD2420 has to offer, you have the option to reduce the monitor's brightness, save energy, save the planet and prolong the lamp life. You can select one of the “Optimize” or “Conserve” options and save up to 40%* energy. Especially under low ambient light conditions, adjusting the brightness will improve visibility by reducing eye fatigue. Reducing brightness will also prolong the monitor's lamp life, improving your return on investment.
The TD2420 features a 24" (23.6” viewable) widescreen with 1920x1080 resolution that is capable of displaying a native Full HD 1080p image. Today, devices that can display Full HD content output are getting more and more common. However, without a native Full HD display, you will not be able to experience the picture clarity and the details of the 1080p content you view.
The TD2420 features a 100mm x 100mm VESA-mountable design that allows you to mount it on a monitor stand or on a wall, depending on your specific needs. You can easily detach the base by unscrewing four screws and then mounting the display on its new stand or wall mount.
One of the aspects that makes ViewSonic a market leader in displays is its dedication to quality. ViewSonic is committed to use the highest grade panels and offer an industry leading pixel performance policy. We also back our displays with a 3-year limited warranty for your peace of mind.
With its mercury-free backlight and low energy consumption, the Energy Star certified TD2420 is not only environmentally friendly, but it's also friendly on your electricity bill. The savings of LED can add up to thousands of dollars saved for large install bases, such as big corporate buildings or schools. The savings can be as dramatic as $20,000 in five years!

Pros: Great monitor for use with windows 7 or 8
Cons: Swipe gestures. I have tried re calibrating several times to get my swipe gestures to work and have failed. I know there must be a way to do it I just haven't put the time in to figure it out...
Other Thoughts: ViewSonic should do a write up on how to get swipe gestures for windows 8 working so we can appreciate it all the more.

Not Good for Windows 8
Pros: Attractive price for a touchscreen monitor in this size
Cons: Terrible for Windows 8 use: There is an extended bezel all the way around the screen, so you can't swipe in from the top, bottom or sides, which is one of the most important touch features of Windows 8.

Best Value in Touchscreen Market
Pros: 1) Price
Cons: Bezel - Sits off of the screen what appears to be 1/4" making it hard to perform some Windows 8 Edge swipes out of the box. However I have found that windows 8 has a calibration setting for touchscreens. Go to search - type in calibration - select settings and you'll find a calibration option for touch screens. Once calibration starts, tap slightly inside (towards middle of monitor by maybe 2-4mm) of the 8 cross-hairs. This will "Grow" the area of the edge touch sensitivity allowing you perform the left, top and right charm bar swipes. After one calibration attempt I'm able to swipe consistently. Out of the box, it took just the right touch.
Other Thoughts: I've noticed a couple of times that touchscreen doesn't always come on with my PC, but I'm wondering if that is my USB detecting the touchscreen as unplugging the USB resolved the issue.
