5 out of 5 eggsgreat monitor

Pros: This is a beautiful monitor. At first I was upset by the lack of dvi-d or I input. The screen is super bright, and color is great. The hdmi input was a surprisingly sleeper great feature. We got att uverse, and this allowed me to connect the tuner directly. After my pleasant experience with the tuner, I connected a xbox 360 to the input at 1080 hd. It works great. You can have two systems connected, and use the button to switch input screens.

Cons: The cam is really not great. The sound is ok, but better than nothing. The sound input is turned off when you use the hdmi input, which provides its own sound. If you don't like the sound output, it can be muted, and a seperate sound source can be used.

5 out of 5 eggsLED Backlight is the way to go!!!

Pros: I bought this monitor locally to replace my Samsung 204B that died suddenly of a dead backlight, since my purchase I have been blown away by the picture quality.
The blacks are black, the whites are white, and the half-tones are actually visible, (things like the lightly yellowed boxes on Newegg's website show up) where on standard LCD Monitors the contrast does not pick them up.
No dead Pixels! ( yet )

Cons: No DVI connection, but using a HDCP connector and a DVI to HDMI cable works awesome.

Movies kind of flicker more than before, but I think that is the 2ms refresh actually clearing the screen.
I wish it was a bit brighter in the daytime, but the high contrast of the picture makes up for lack of brightness.

Monitor feels light, thin and cheaply built, the screen bends easily by twisting the back.

The bezel is way to big for dual monitor configurations and there is no VESA mount, so most aftermarket monitor stands will not work.

Wish it had pan, pivot and tilt, as it would be nice to spin from landscape to portrait mode sometimes.

Glass base? that is kind of a trap on my desk.
External powersupply, makes for a thinner lighter monitor, but you have another connection to check when there is a problem.

Other Thoughts: Have been so blown away by the picture I have not messed with the speakers or webcam yet.

Better packing would be nice I went for about 5 minutes trying to get the stand put together, but finally found the screw hidden in a dimebag packed in the bag with the manual, CD and cleaning cloth. They should take 2 seconds and tape it to the base, who actually opens those bags anyway? (also they use 10 miles of sticky plastic film packing the monitor)

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Great picture, really like my usb hybrid hdtv on this monitor.

Cons: needs dvi connection

Other Thoughts: last poster said he had no screw, should have been in a small bag and has a wire loop on the head to tighten with.
Bought this on sale from sta for 200 bucks.

3 out of 5 eggsJiggy's right

Pros: This monitor is great for games. The blacks are very black and the colors are bright and vibrant. I bought it to replace a Samsung T220 which after only one year stopped working. Though I thought the Samsung was awesome, I like the AOC v22 better than the Samsung for gaming......but.....

Cons: Jiggy is right, this monitor is horrible for the types of movies he describes. There is a tearing effect where the skin appears to move with oscillating rhythmic wavy stripes. Very annoying! Also it came without the bolt to secure the monitor to the base. I called the manufacturer who told me that the monitor didn't have a bolt, but rather clipped on to the base. However there is a hole with threads so I think the tech was wrong. Guess I have to go to the hardware store to find something that will work. The monitor will not stand on the base by itself.

Other Thoughts: I usually buy all my hardware from newegg, but this time I didn't because of Jiggy's review. I chose a distributor where I could take it back to a store if I didn't like it (lots easier). Now I am glad I did, because I think I will take it back. It is so good for games though I am yet undecided. I think the frame and base are well made and looks it too. The red stripe at the bottom is not tacky but is a dark red that adds to it's loverall look of sleakness.

2 out of 5 eggsThe anti-xxx monitor

Pros: Bright
No ghosting while gaming
Good contrast (inflated contrast ratio though...)
Light weight
Good appearance
Decent color controls and special features
Easy to use menu
Low power usage
No stuck or dead pixels
Integrated web cam

Cons: Skin tones have gradients and strange coloration while in motion. It looks as though the colors are set on 16-bit mode but only on moving skin tones. This makes adult films look horrible, for instance. There are bands of green and red in the gradient as well.

The base attaches to the monitor at a single point rather than having two attachment points. This can make it seem a bit wobbly when pushing the power button or using the on screen controls. Form over function, regrettably.

The power brick is external, which isn't a con in itself, but the fixed portion of the cord, the part which connects to the monitor, is only three feet long or so. I have to keep the power brick on my desk because it will not reach the monitor from the floor.... My monitor sits on a raised partition on my desk which allows an "ATX Desktop" format pc case to sit underneath it.

The drivers and software on the included disk did not work. Windows 7 did recognize the webcam though.

[Continued in other t

Other Thoughts: This monitor has problems recognizing the video inputs. I took my PC to a friends house to LAN and I could not get the monitor to recognize the input. I restarted 3 times and removed and reconnected the hdmi cable over and over. Finally It turned on after completely powering off the computer and rebooting.

View angle is not the best as it is a TN panel.

AOC has not responded to any of my online support form submissions regarding the gradients. (It's been a few weeks)

....Overall I am disappointed with the monitor due to the gradients which appear on skin tones. This is unacceptable for a monitor at this price and affects movie viewing adversely...

5 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: LED back-lit is a huge plus
Crystal Clear
Web cam built in (very smooth)
Built in mic (very clear)
simplified buttons and menu set up so there's no clutter.

Cons: The frame feels cheaply made, the red strip on the bottom is a little tacky, they have advertisements for a blue or green strip but i have only seen it available in red.

When i opened the box i noticed there is a scratch on the side of the monitor, i was pretty disappointed in this, but seeing as im a college student, it would happen anyways. If AOC would be willing to pay the shipping i would replace it but im not too concerned.

Other Thoughts: the exterior design is just a matter of taste i suppose, but it doesn't take away from the amazing picture, especially at this price range. games look great on it, but i haven't had a chance to try out any movies.

i don't use the built in speakers so i have no opinion on them, but who actually buys a monitor based on quality speakers...

5 out of 5 eggsMind Blowing!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Size, Great Style, very thin, extremely energy efficient, GORGEOUS and CRISP picture! Comes with a webcam AND mic built in, glossy screen adds to the crisp, clean image. The menu is quite extensive and easy to navigate and fine tune. For the price you can get a similar 23 or 24 inch, but let me tell you... this is so much more energy efficient than those, and has the best color range I've ever seen. ZERO dead pixels, and very fast friendly support! Hands down, better than a similarly priced 23 or 24 inch without hesitation.

Cons: The ONLY problem was that a piece to the stand was missing. Called them up and they were friendly and instantly are shipping a replacement to me at no charge. I am EXTREMELY satisfied :)

Other Thoughts: This is a WLED... the newest in technology for LCD's. It's brighter and easier on the eyes than my other LCD, and I'd rather have an AWESOME 22" for the next few years than just a good 24".

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing! You have to see it to believe it!

Pros: The colors are deliciously vibrant, but not oversaturated. The whites and blacks it produces are miles ahead of anything I've seen on a CCFL display and that alone is enough to add a LOT of depth to images. The response time, to my eyes, appears to be a hair faster than most other "2ms" LCDs. I haven't used the webcam, microphone, or speakers, but it's very cool of AOC to include them as extras. The solid glass base is a far cry from the cheap plastic stands used by other manufacturers. They really don't kid around when they say that the V22 is thin and lightweight - it should be a breeze to transport to LAN parties. And if it gets a little grubby along the way, AOC even threw in a cleaning cloth!

Cons: No HDMI cable or HDMI -> DVI adapter included. Not really a big deal, considering you can get either for a pittance from Newegg. I do recommend using the HDMI connector rather than settling for the included VGA cable.

Other Thoughts: The other reviewers aren't kidding when they say the picture is out of this world good. I've compared this monitor side by side with a regular CCFL-backlit LCD and even a wide gamut CCFL-backlit LCD and this monitor just blows them both away. The picture quality, in conjunction with the added extras and the unique qualities of the LEDs as noted by a previous reviewer, leads me to recommend this monitor as an excellent value.

5 out of 5 eggsLove This Monitor!

Pros: Very good picture quality. Text is sharp and easy to read and graphics are the best I have seen on a monitor. Start up is very fast. My computer adjusted the resolution to 1680 x 1050 after the software was loaded. This resolution fits the monitor perfectly and nothing seems distorted or stretched. The monitor arrived in perfect condition with no dead pixels. The monitor looks very good. It is a piece of art.

Cons: The first time I turned on the monitor it took forever to find either input. No HDMI cable included. I had to purchase a seperate DVI to HDMI cable. At this price point the cable should have been included. The monitor speakers are weak and the web cam is very poor. When the software for the web cam is loaded, my monitor has trouble finding the HDMI input. Uninstalled the software and had no problem.

Other Thoughts: Although I have a few complaints I would recommend this monitor. I had to make a few adjustments to calibrate to my liking but that was expected. Buy this monitor you will love it!!!

5 out of 5 eggsWLEDs Last Longer

Pros: I purchased this monitor but have yet to recieve it. Im just posting to let everyone know that there are a couple of reasons why an LED monitor will last longer than a standard CCFL. CCFLs use a high voltage to excite the electrons of the gas atoms within the CCFL tubes in order to get them to the next layer ( Valence ) and thus producing light. More about this can be learned in most physics books but Im just explaining it in a simple way. The light then passes through a layer of phosphorus making it white. The light then passes through a series of polarizers and diffusers untill it reaches the LCD panel. These panels have a VERY long life span and generaly do not fail within the period of time you would be willing to own it. The CCFLs however do. CCFLs are prone to life detriments through vibrations ( Sound ) and temperature changes. They are basically hollow glass tubes suspended in the frame of the monit

Cons: or. LEDs on the other hand are solid state devices. They work on a similar principle as the CCFLs in that they have compuounds in them that are excited by an electrical charge. However, there is no gas in them so they are SOLID and can even be run over by vehicles and still survive. They are not affected by sound. They don't use loud, hot, bulky transformers since they only need a couple volts at a small amperage. The transformers are another weak spot of the CCFL. They are responsible for that "buzz" you sometimes hear in these monitors. LEDs are more energy efficient and create less heat energy per lumen of light so other components ( Image processing/driving ) last longer as a side effect of the lower heat levels. LEDs have another advantage over CCFLs and thats picture quality. Whether you have component LEDs RGB in tandem, or multi-compound WLEDs as this monitor has, the frequencies of light in the "white" light are more varied and can produce more colors when paired wit

Other Thoughts: h a good LCD panel. Another factor that amounts to better color representation is the ability for LEDs to be turned on and off almost instantaneously. This can be used at a high frequency to save energy ( Research visual persistence and LED energy efficiency ) but more importantly, it can be used to make blacks...actually black. When an LCD is turned on the pixels twist depending on how much light they want to block, they cannot block ALL light and therefore "leak" and blacks can look a bit greyish. If arranged in a matrix behind the panel, LEDs can be selectively switched off so that the pixels in the panel don't even need to block 100% of the light since there is "none" in that particular area. A very good resource for learning about LCDs is a learning site that I found one day. I will give you some clues. The companies name starts with the amount of strikes you get at bat. The entire name is only 2 digits, one number and one letter. They make adhesives (Tape in particular)
