3 out of 5 eggsGet what you pay for.

Pros: It plays 3D in both movies and games. Its definitely a step up from 2D. 23" screen, solid stand. Very slim.

Cons: There is a dead pixel in the lower center of the screen. It is bright red, not very noticable with brighter colors, but in games and movies in dark scenes it is very noticable. There is horrible ghosting on this monitor, you clearly see 2 images whether you try to or not, just one is more solid than the other. The classes are extremely cheap and flimsy, I feel like they will break just while cleaning them.

Other Thoughts: I would not be writing this review right now had I purchased this through NewEgg. NewEgg shipping is horrible, never on time and never early. I bought through a different company because it was on sale for $199.99, didnt pay for next day shipping, and still got it next day, oh how lovely. I know this is on the lower end of 3D monitors, but at the same time, if you havent experienced 3D before you will be very pleased, but again, you may wonder what a better monitor is like and how it performs once you see the flaws in this one. But if you are on a budget, this is good, but there are btter ones cheaper. I bought AOC because I have another non 3D AOC and it has been wonderful.

3 out of 5 eggsJust a Question

Pros: Just wondering, how well does this monitor work with Nvidia 3D (or AMD 3D for that matter)? There's no mention of that on this page. This looks like a decent monitor for 3D (especially for the price), but I need to know if it will work for the only thing I can use it for.

Cons: The half vertical resolution thing is a bit of a drag, but probly doesn't "look" quite as bad as it sounds, we'll see.

4 out of 5 eggsGood monitor with some minor drawbacks

Pros: Compared to my other 3D display (a DLP with active shutter glasses), viewing 3D content on this display is actually very pleasant. The image through the passive glasses is stable, and comfortable to look at, unlike the 60Hz flicker from my active shutter glasses, which tends to dazzle my eyes, and cause headaches.

Also, unlike most active shutter glasses I've worn, which are bulky and pinch my head, causing pain after several hours, these glasses are light, and fit comfortably. Because there are no electronics in the glasses, they are also inexpensive to replace, and in a pinch, you can even use the cheap polarized ones from the movie theater.

Cons: 2D: The polarizing mask over every other row of pixels is faintly visible in 2D mode, causing a very subtle effect similar to an interlaced CRT, though not nearly as bad. Still, I would not recommend purchasing this display if you only intended to use it in 2D mode.

3D: The polarizing filters in FPR displays, by design, send every odd row of pixels to your left eye, and every even row to your right eye, effectively blacking out half of your vertical resolution. Some claim that the information is still there, in that 540p plus 540p adds up to 1080p, but the effect is noticeable. I personally feel that the benefits of passive FPR displays outweigh the cons versus active shutter glasses, but it is by no means perfect.

Other Thoughts: If you intend to use this display for PC gaming in 3D: Use a DVI connection to the monitor, not HDMI, and in the bundled TriDef 3D software, open the TriDef 3D control panel and enable “Line Interlaced (1920x1080)” mode. It is listed under “Manufacturer: (standard display types)”. The reason for this is that frame packed 3D over HDMI 1.4a at 1080p resolution is limited to 24 frames per second. This is meant for movies, and is far too low of a framerate for comfortable gaming. Selecting line interlaced mode will allow you to run at the monitor's native resolution, and still achieve 60 frames per second.
