HP sets the pace in many aspects of computer technology, and monitors are no exception. The L1745 17" dynamo is just another example. At an outstanding 1280 x 1024 resolution makes a small screen show a great deal of information. Capable of displaying 16.7 million colors, as well as an excellent 500:1 contrast ratio, every minute shade and slight detail will be shown in lifelike reality.
The 150 degree viewing angle and 300 cd/m2 brightness is more than adequate to make its image enjoyable in nearly any environment. With all of this, its price is exceptional. Remember, the L1745 isn't just a monitor, it's an HP.

Stand is too tall...
Reviewed By: sbornian on 3/20/2009
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Good overall quality, stand has lots of adjustments.
Cons: Pricey for the size and resolution. Pivot works only clockwise, which is inconvenient in a dual setup monitor with this monitor on the left (it requires longer cables to reach the computer case and power outlet if those are located on the right side). The minimum height of the stand is too high, so in portrait mode it won't fit under a shelf and it won't be able to match the height of a second monitor with tilt adjustment only.
Other Thoughts: Swivel adjustment is a waste of money - just turn the whole assembly as needed. Pivot adjustment is also expensive because of the way it's done: in most cases people don't rotate the monitor back and forth, but just leave it in one position, so reattaching the monitor after removing it from the VESA mount would be perfectly acceptable and way more economical.
