3 out of 5 eggsOK but could have been a problem

Pros: It works

Cons: If by total fluke I had not been home this would not have been delivered as the box clearly said "Computer" on the exterior and the courier was not happy to leave what she considered was a high value item at the front door, I totally respect her decision

Other Thoughts: Newegg you need to have neutral or total blank external packaging

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent monitor...

Pros: A very nice LCD monitor. As usual, it came with a CD with the drivers and some utilities. Also as usual, I chose not to install the utilities and only used the CD to manually install the Windows drivers. It also works great in Fedora 12 (a Linux OS) without an xorg.conf file. The "Auto" button on the front panel is nice to easily and quickly compensate for screen position differences when rebooting into other operating systems. I usually have had to resort to video card or monitor utilities to do that in Windows and modeline commands in xorg.conf in Linux. The "Auto" button is easier and better at this job IMO.

Cons: None.

4 out of 5 eggsWorkhorse

Pros: The price is right, especially with the recent $31 rebate offer that has recently expired. True, its not a huge widescreen with HDMI ports galore, but if you need a no frills monitor at a no frills price, this deserves a look.

Cons: Mine came with a dead pixel in the lower right-hand third of the screen. It is surprisingly obvious and my eyes are always drawn to it when I use this monitor. Some would take off more than one star for such an obvious and annoying flaw, but the price out weighs the benign defect.

Other Thoughts: The box was really dirty when it arrived. I think the delivery folks must have their depot out in the mud flats.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Monitor

Pros: Nice looking monitor, great picture, nice and bright. I like the auto-adjust feature that centers the picture display on the monitor.

Cons: Takes a little adjustment to get it just right. There is no DVI input.

Other Thoughts: Can't beat the price after the $31.00 mail-in rebate. My fault for not noticing the lack of DVI input; maybe that's why it was so cheap.

5 out of 5 eggsLove it !!!

Pros: Bought it as a second monitor to extend my windows desktop. Love it! No dead Pixels. Clear and bright at least for me. Great price after the rebate.

Cons: I cant think of any.

Other Thoughts: This is the my 5th 17" HP monitor that I've gradually purchased in the last 3 years or so between work and home to slowly get out of CRT's. I've bought them all from Newegg. Non have had any dead pixels. I've not received my $31 rebate for this one yet (only had it a few days)... but I purchased all my other HP LCD's while rebates were being offered on them, and never had a problem receiving the rebates.
