There must be a minimum of 8 dead pixels to declare an LCD display defective and eligible for return.
HP's L1910 flat panel monitor expertly balances price and power. This 19" LCD has a 1280x1024 native resolution so it will display large images with incredible detail. The 300cd/m² brightness rating and 800:1 contrast ratio combined with the anti-glare screen give you a great image in either a home or office environment.
Tech Level: average - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Pros: Seems sturdy, good value, not widescreen, controls reasonably easy to navigate
Cons: Slightly metallic cast to picture, has only VGA input
Other Thoughts: Got this directly from HP through an employer-sponsored discount program. For the price, I am very happy -- but I have seen panels with better sharpness and colors.
In small- and medium-sized monitors, I prefer non-widescreen models like this one.

Pros: Beautiful color rendition. I like non-widescreen multiple monitor setups. Had HP's before and never had a problem with dead pixels or failures.
Cons: With the rebate and discount, this was a steal. No complaints.
Other Thoughts: A stark reminder that LCDs fade after a couple of years. Paired this new monitor with a 2-year old HP L1940 in a dual setup, and the older monitor looks like mud. The 10-year old View Sonic CRT on another computer still has colors that look like new.
