5 out of 5 eggsVery Nice....Good Monitor...

Pros: This is a beautiful Monitor. The color's are very vibrant as one review wrote. I love the sharpness, color adjustment, color temp control. Games do look Beautiful. Movie's; wow... Look Great. Stand is very nice
, keeps monitor very sturdy.
USB plugs on the side & in back are great for my needs. Built-in speaker's work fine; if thats what you
like. All around I think this is a good monitor. The Best monitor I ever owned or played on. How long she'll last; well, we will see. I have a good feeling about this one.
I just bought a ACER '24' P243wAid. WELL... She failed.. 4 days later. Well, this was on sale like the ACER.
So I took this one in place of the ACER. VERY HAPPY
with the choice.

Cons: You have to give this a con.. I mean 'Come oooonnnnn...
No DVI... Like someone else wrote... "(What is this, the 90's)"...HDMI port only. Must use converter plug or
buy a DVI / HDMI cable. Either way it works great.

Other Thoughts: Great Responce timing. No Flickering here. I have this monitor plugged into a NVIDIA 8800GT. Games like
Unreal Tournament 3, HALF-LIFE 2, COD4,CODWaW
look just amazing. Bright,Beautiful colors. Like i said befor; the sharpness is just amazing. Beautiful. I think
any one who buys this monitor would be satisfeid.

3 out of 5 eggsAdequate

Pros: Reasonable value; screen is bright enough. Casual gamer and average user will find this screen very acceptable. No dead pixels. Controls are convenient. Overall robust construction and reliability, based on work experience, is excellent

Cons: This is a TN display and it shows... vertical viewing angle (up-down) is very poor compared to S-PVA monitors. The monitor is very basic, lacking feature like PIP (useful for glancing at TV while you work), a DVI input or flash card slots. Colors need adjusting out-of-box

Other Thoughts: Retailers should be required to identify their display as S-IPS, S-PVA or TN or "Artist", "Professional" and "Casual". I have no idea why any 24 inch monitor ships with a VGA cable. A DVI-to-hdmi cable would be far more useful.

5 out of 5 eggsNice monitor

Pros: Great image quality. No motion blur. No back light bleed worth mentioning. Nice viewing angle. No dead pixels.

Cons: None really. Cost is a bit high.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor even though it was $100 more than its competitors because after doing a lot of research I found that this had been rated highly for both movies and gaming.
There will be back light bleed for any LCD, but it is negligible on this monitor. You will not notice anything negative about the image, viewing angle, or response time unless you seek it out.
Although I have not used any monitors that would be in direct competition against this one, for me it was worth the high price I paid since the quality is great and it came without any issues (i.e. no dead pixels).

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect

Pros: Amazingly sharp and clear image, no dead pixels, wonderful control of color/contrast/brightness, being able to sit the monitor all the way down on the desk is incredible. tilt is nice as well.

Cons: the stand is pretty ingenious... however, it may not work for everyone. regardless of what the specs from hp says, it only tilts down about 1 degree (i sit below my monitors, looking up... so this puts it at a weird angle). i purchased a vesa mount for it to fix this issue.

Other Thoughts: it would have been nice to have an actual dvi port as well, but this is easily overcome with a dvi->hdmi cable or adaptor. i would have given it a 4.5 rating if it was allowed.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat color

Pros: Great color- very vibrant. I am happy with the gradients, and gamma. Stand is great, nice range and very sturdy. It has a rubber pad in the center of the base which pivots on a bearing, felt pads on the edges of the base allow you to pivot the monitor around that center point very smoothly. The built in light sensor is cool and works well. great contrast. I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means but I think Half-Life 2 looks great on these.

Cons: Height adjustment is too loose out of the box (see other thoughts). I am running two of these and it was a pain keeping them lined up with each other. black levels suck, an all black screen lights up the room, however the white levels are so high that you can't notice in everyday use. flipping to portrait mode is easy enough, but if you have stiff cables they are going to strain the connectors. No DVI port- what is this, the 90's?

Other Thoughts: The Height adjustment CAN BE TIGHTENED- it's pretty easy if you are willing to tear stuff apart. Just pull the two halves of the arm cover off and you'll see the load springs and the linkages that keep the monitor level. just tighten the 8 lock nuts on the linkages to your preference and snap the covers back on. this isn't really necessary for a single monitor setup, but if you have two of these it makes it a lot easier to keep them aligned. Both of mine are rock solid now. I'm using a DVI to HDMI adapter at the monitor and it works great.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: -Great color
-Great picture
-Awesome size [1920x1200]

Cons: -The ambient light adjuster is kind of irritating more than helpful.
-The verticle seems a bit useless.
-No DVI support but i can live without it considering it does support DVI.

Other Thoughts: Very happy with this monitor.

Not happy it dropped 50$ after i bought it.

4 out of 5 eggsNice!!

Pros: Overall this is a fantastic monitor for the price. It has a sleek and simple design with a great height adjustment and pivot mechanism. The screen is glossy and colors show up bright and vivid.

For this price and amount of features, this is probably your best option.

Cons: Probably the biggest downside is that the 2408h seems to have difficulty achieving true black which takes away from the experience.

Furthermore, there is definitely some level of blacklight bleed through on the edges and some toward the middle of the screen.

The viewing angle is smaller than most comparable monitors; however, the height/tilt adjustment can help to ease this problem.

I am very disappointed that there is not DVI input.

Other Thoughts: I spent a great deal of time and effort researching which 24" monitor to purchase. Other monitors may have had better aspects (such as response time or view angle); however, the picture quality or something else would end up suffering.

This is definitely the best monitor for the amount of features and performance you get. However, just be sure of which features are most important to you and go from there.

4 out of 5 eggsVivid colors

Pros: Generally speaking, for LCD monitors to look good, they must be used at the native (highest) resolution. The high resolution of this monitor makes it very good for viewing photos, videos or games. The gloss screen maintains the vivid color contrast this is lost when viewing a dull matt. This results in truely tranparent glass and water and much more lifelike images. I'm amazed that you can buy this much monitor for the price. Dispite my wordy cons, I like this monitor very much for it's stunning imagery.

Cons: The stand tension is weak. At it's highest stance, if I rotate the screen it invariably sags and bangs a corner on the table. Rotation seems more difficult than it should be. The software that is supposed to recognise the orientation doesn't work for me. The portrait view has limited usefulness due to the lesser viewing angle on the narrow axis. It's an LCD monitor, so blacks aren't going to be very black, but there is a lot of backlight bleedthrough. When I first turn it on, there is a very noticeable amount of what I would describe as electrical noise, like on a CRT, and it's strange to find on an LCD. It diminishes considerably once the unit is warm. It hums, which is most noticable during the few seconds after the PC is shut down while the monitor is waiting to go to sleep. The PC's fans drown it out. Yes, the speakers are junk and maybe should have been left out of the design.

Other Thoughts: For games or photo displays, I've preferred gloss screens going back to NEC CRTs of the early '90s. I haven't seen a matt screen yet that offers the same vivid color. I try not to have a lamp placed directly behind me, but otherwise don't notice reflections much. The picture is so bright, it overrides most anything else.
