Work smarter, not harder with the HP w2408h widescreen monitor. The large 24" screen lets you have multiple programs open side by side so it's easy to reference one while working on another. The large workspace also makes graphics work easier since you can have more of your tools visible without covering the image you're working on. Of course the 1900x1200 resolution helps also by displaying the images with incredible detail and accuracy.
The high resolution combined with HDCP capability through the HDMI port lets you watch HD movies played on your computers HD DVD or Blu-ray DVD player. The screen has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 400cd/m² brightness rating for an incredible picture. The 5ms response time virtually eliminates ghosting and stuttering in both movies and games.
The monitor also acts as a 4-port USB hub with two ports on the side and two on the down. Other ease of use features include a dual hinge stand that offers a vast range of height and angle adjustments so that it is comfortable for anyone to use. It also has a 100mmX100mm VESA standard 4 hole mounting pattern for wall mounting. You can also rotate the screen into portrait mode for tall documents or web pages.

- Pros: This monitor is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! Works without flaw upon initial hookup. I'm using this on a vista machine paired with an 8600GT which isn't top of the line of course and movies, pictures, everything looks great. I'm using the HDMI hookup and it seems to up-convert my regular DVD's
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: The software on the disc that comes with it isn't really necessary but can be helpful for set up done by a novice. This isn't a con so I put it here and goes with the software... the screen is almost too bright, I have to tone it down a little bit. Also cool is a built in sensor that dims or brightens this monitor when you turn the lights in the room on of off. I recommend this monitor to everyone now! It's worth every penny, if your looking in this price range just buy it now and you won't regret it.
Very nice
- Pros: -24" of widescreen goodness.
-A built-in 4 port USB hub. -Separate inputs for either HDMI or the regular 15-pin D-Sub input. The inputs can be switched between as easily as you switch the input of your TV at home. -Built-in speakers (see cons) -Able to tilt the entire monitor 90 degrees on its side (for when you need to read a really really long email :-P ). -Very wide viewing angle. You'll have no problems seeing what's on the screen. -Ambient light sensor that auto-adjusts the brightness depending on how bright it is in your room. (this can be turned off if it becomes annoying)
All in all, this is an extremely nice monitor at a good price. I don't see myself regretting my purchase.
- Cons: You would be better off getting a set of $20 speakers instead of using the built-in ones on this monitor. Also, even though the viewing angles are great on this monitor, I noticed that if you look at the screen from bottom to top, you start to see the colors invert. Make sure you sit high enough, or the monitor sits low enough so you don't encounter this.
- Other Thoughts: Switching from a 21" CRT to this is a big change. This monitor gives off more light than the CRT did, and I also have more desktop space to play with now. To get the best out of this monitor, you HAVE to use it at it's native resolution of 1920x1200. Anything less makes everything a bit blurry.
I don't see myself using this monitor sideways anytime in the future. IMO, it's just a nifty thing that's nice to have if you ever want to read through pages of text without having to scroll down too often. Definitely not a con since it's not hindering your normal use of this monitor.

great moniter
- Pros: the tilt and swivel is a great feature the moniter has a great response time ,contrast ratio, brightness 400nits
- Cons: up and down is very loose i lift the screen and it very slowly comes back down also takes some manhandling to tilt the 90 degrees in gaming mode the contrast is not very good
- Other Thoughts: looks great and i would buy again if i had to
Very Nice....Good Monitor...
- Pros: This is a beautiful Monitor. The color's are very vibrant as one review wrote. I love the sharpness, color adjustment, color temp control. Games do look Beautiful. Movie's; wow... Look Great. Stand is very nice
, keeps monitor very sturdy. USB plugs on the side & in back are great for my needs. Built-in speaker's work fine; if thats what you like. All around I think this is a good monitor. The Best monitor I ever owned or played on. How long she'll last; well, we will see. I have a good feeling about this one. I just bought a ACER '24' P243wAid. WELL... She failed.. 4 days later. Well, this was on sale like the ACER. So I took this one in place of the ACER. VERY HAPPY with the choice.
- Cons: You have to give this a con.. I mean 'Come oooonnnnn...
No DVI... Like someone else wrote... "(What is this, the 90's)"...HDMI port only. Must use converter plug or buy a DVI / HDMI cable. Either way it works great.
- Other Thoughts: Great Responce timing. No Flickering here. I have this monitor plugged into a NVIDIA 8800GT. Games like
Unreal Tournament 3, HALF-LIFE 2, COD4,CODWaW look just amazing. Bright,Beautiful colors. Like i said befor; the sharpness is just amazing. Beautiful. I think any one who buys this monitor would be satisfeid.
Adequate
- Pros: Reasonable value; screen is bright enough. Casual gamer and average user will find this screen very acceptable. No dead pixels. Controls are convenient. Overall robust construction and reliability, based on work experience, is excellent
- Cons: This is a TN display and it shows... vertical viewing angle (up-down) is very poor compared to S-PVA monitors. The monitor is very basic, lacking feature like PIP (useful for glancing at TV while you work), a DVI input or flash card slots. Colors need adjusting out-of-box
- Other Thoughts: Retailers should be required to identify their display as S-IPS, S-PVA or TN or "Artist", "Professional" and "Casual". I have no idea why any 24 inch monitor ships with a VGA cable. A DVI-to-hdmi cable would be far more useful.
