The LP2275w from HP takes business monitors up a notch. The 22" screen has a 1680x1050 resolution that you can switch to 1050x1680 by simply rotating the monitor on the stand so you can see more of a tall document or image while working on it. A 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 300cd/m² brightness contribute to the great picture.

HP gives you plenty of connection options. You can use either a DVI or DisplayPort connector for exceptional digital performance. There is also a 4 port USB hub to make attaching peripherals more convenient. Two ports are on the back for more permanent attachments and two on the sides for flash drives or cameras.

In today's world we have to be concerned about more than just the initial cost of the product. The LP2275w is Energy Star compliant and has an EPEAT silver rating. No matter how you look at it the view is great.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good panel, very good image quality.

Cons: Flashing colored lines across the screen at start-up. Must cycle the screen resolution (1680x1050 -> 1600x1000 -> 1680x1050) to get rid of them, often quite a few times before the screen becomes usable.

Also, after one year, it started making a very disturbing high-frequency noise (the inverter?).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor

Pros: Excellent, well-balanced color and good grayscale range for most Windows apps. For color managed apps (i.e. Photoshop and Lightroom), colors are a bit less saturated than more expensive panels, but overall tones are still accurate.

Cons: Doesn't do as well with an older VGA Analog laptop I've got (some banding/interferance issues likely due to the laptop itself), but another VGA laptop and a DVI desktop PC I've got don't have any problems with this monitor.

Other Thoughts: My primary monitor at home is a 26" NEC Multisync 2690WUXi (which cost $1000 more than this HP new). While that monitor does a bit better for photo editing within color managed applications like Photoshop, it's always been a bit too "punchy" and over-saturated in most other apps. This HP is much nicer for all-around use. A great bargain!

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Image quality is absolutely stunning. Visibly better than other monitors built with lesser quality panels.

Cons: Boxy industrial looking design. Although I do prefer this to some of the cheesy designs from other manufacturers.

Other Thoughts: I was skeptical that this monitor would be worth the price premium, but I'm sold.

5 out of 5 eggsProblem resolved

Pros: Very sharp, awesome depth of color that only a TN monitor can deliver.

Cons: Takes a little while for it to wake up from sleep or from off to on. I attribute this to the detection process for DVI and DisplayPort. They should have designed it so that user can select an input and bypass this process.

Other Thoughts: I had the same issues that many are reporting on here. I got one of the earliest versions. Contacted HP business support and they sent me a new one. Haven't had flickering green lines since and the monitor seems to be more responsive when powering on.

Mine is labeled REV. SPG223 on the outside, SPG082 in the menu.

1 out of 5 eggsHP LP2275w

Pros: None that I can think of

Cons: Does not work for even 1 sec. I plugged it in: nothing. Changed my cable DVI already plugged into my previous 19in LCD to the one provided in the box by HP:nothing. Wasted 1 hour of my precious time. DEAD ON ARRIVAL.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent colors but slow

Pros: Excellent color accuracy benefited from the PVA panel (Not the cheap TN panels like most of LCDs out there). The black is really deep. Uniform & bright backlighting. Sharp fonts. Outstanding built quality. Great OSD controls.

Cons: 1st one came flawed. Just like many others said, it had the horizontal lines on wake-up. Half of times it could not even wake up from sleep. Power supply buzzing during use. Not too noisy but loud enough to distract u in a quiet room.
The replacement came quick and has had zero problems so far. But wakeup from sleep still seems a bit slow. Sometimes it takes nearly half a min for the display to show the desktop (connected to a Macbook Pro). Other than that, an excellent LCD for an amateur photographer like me.

Other Thoughts: This monitor has a bad reputation out there if you dig around on the internet. The horizontal lines and slow wakeup is a common problem for the early production batches. But it seems HP fixed the problem later. Buying the openbox ones from Newegg for $150 less might even give you a better chance for a good unit (at ur own risk). But don't take my word for it.:)

2 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware...

Pros: Could be the best 22" out there – sharp with great color – excellent, for a matte screen... BUT…

Cons: Intermittent flashing blue/green horizontal lines that appear randomly on the screen is a real distraction... also noticed banding with certain colors... which comes and goes… Tried swapping cables and video sources… installed and reinstalled drivers… to no avail. Turning the monitor OFF and ON works for a few seconds… but problem pops up somewhere else on the screen.

I believe this monitor has some serious problems... and HP knows. Check out the HP Business Support Forums... search on "HP LP2275W problem?" Wish I had looked at this forum first... nuts! Other reviewers on newEgg have noted similar problems.

PC Support Staff at work (4,000+ desktops) said that they had similar problems with other Business Class monitors (19” LCD)… this is not good.

Other Thoughts: Returning the product tomorrow…hopefully this is NOT a manufacturing problem… or I’m in for a long cycle of returns and finger pointing…
This is my first HP LCD…many folks have recommended the company for their quality and performance…

I would think again.

I hate this… other than the problem noted… this is a good monitor… bummer. ?

5 out of 5 eggsDisplayPort

Pros: DisplayPort is a definite pro because it works great.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: DisplayPort is a more open standard than HDMI and is a royalty free standard unlike HDMI.

1 out of 5 eggsHP Broken Quality

Pros: This monitor looks good, calibrates easily with spyder2. Love the additional screen space when using photoshop over a crt.

Cons: Horizontal lines on the screen in the wrong color. Connected the monitor to a laptop and a pc and the lines are present on both, I have tried two dvi cables and the lines are still there, the only way to get rid of them is to use the dvi to analog cable. Tech support is a joke as the monitor isn't in their data base and I can't get past "What is your product number?"
