Pros: good quality and every thing else

Cons: who wants to spend 3 grand on a moniter as good as oll of the others?

Pros: Amazing color when calibrated. Response time good enough for gaming. Holds up well after over a year of ownership.

Cons: Super expensive. Don't buy this if you are not going to calibrate it and use it professional. Other reviewer's comment about black levels and brightness are accurate.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for gaming because I wanted a color accurate LED screen. It works great but in retrospect if you do not have a professional purpose for this monitor, purchase something cheaper. I think I ordered this directly from HP at the time. Newegg has not always carried it.

Pros: •30-bit IPS LCD panel (1 billion colors allow you to see things in images you never noticed before, though in many cases the monitor's gamut far exceeds that of the source images)
•Built-in calibration profiles are pretty much dead-on accurate for bringing the monitor's gamut into alignment with the destination's colorspace
•Price compared to other 30-bit LCD monitors (which are not available from Newegg, though they don't have to be since people who know enough about them know where to find them)

Cons: •HP's claimed CRT-comparable black-levels are artificial. They produced by dimming the back-light, in much the same way that many manufacturers use to cheat with the Dynamic Contrast Ratios they advertise for their TN-panel monitors to achieve inflated numbers of over 30,000:1 when the true panel contrast itself is more like 700:1. HP doesn't make those claims for this monitor, thankfully, as it is true 1000:1. But in the end it is still the same sort of trickery. While the black levels and the visible definition in dark images is impeccable, it is not quite capable of the same dark-level definition in images with a very broad range of lighting.
•Still very pricey if you aren't in a position to use it to it's full potential. I remember reading a review on Newegg a while back (I guess it was on an older version or something) from a doctor who used it for medical imaging. I suppose that the super-fine color accuracy would help in something like an MRI or when looking for strains ofcance

Other Thoughts: I should make it clear that I do NOT own this monitor. I was using it in the school's imaging lab, and was very impressed with it.

Pros: This is a beautiful monitor. I’m a nature photographer and work almost exclusively in Adobe RGB. This monitors built in profile is a real plus. In addition, the LED backlighting and IPS panel make for wonderful viewing for photo editing My previous monitor was an HP LP2465 which my wife is now using and loves. I did not compare the LP2480zx with other high end monitors before purchasing so I won’t comment in that regard. I picked this monitor based on HP’s usually good quality products and my experience with the LP2465. The LP2480zx monitor is easy to setup with multiple video connection options.

Cons: Not sure what usefulness the display assistant software is so after some experimentation I have stopped loading it. HP’s manual doesn’t provide much information other than setup and connection diagrams. I could have figured that stuff out without the manual. This monitor can only be profiled using the DreamColor Advanced Profiling Solution (APS) so add an additional $350 to the price tag. I already owned X-Rite’s EZColor but the monitor OSD doesn’t provide individual adjustments for color, contrast, and brightness in a way that worked with EZColor. I purchased the APS package but the software wouldn’t load using Windows 7 64bit. Once you get the APS to work it’s easy to update through the application. However, X-Rite doesn’t list the HP APS on their site even though the software and colorimeter are made by them. After a long Google search I found a link to an update at X-Rite. After installing the update, I couldn’t profile the monitor because I kept getting a message that the USB hub

Other Thoughts: HP has very little information on their site regarding support for this monitor and its profiling kit. I admit I went through a lot of struggles and frustration to get the monitor profiled but now I’m very pleased with it. Hopefully this information will assist others who are interested in purchasing the LP2480zx. My review is not meant to discourage.
