5 out of 5 eggsYou'll love it

Pros: Not just bigger screen, get much more on screen.

Cons: Expensive by today's standards, note that I paid the more for 19" CRTs back in the 90's.

Other Thoughts: Absolutely gorgeous. Almost feel guilty.

Pros: The best monitor available for PC gaming. The color quality of the IPS panel is at a level usually reserved for imaging professionals. IPS is usually known for lag, but this monitor has low lag suitable for gaming because it has no OSD. You instead have separate hardware buttons for input selection, brightness, and power. Fine by me, it makes things simpler and anything else can be controlled by the video card anyway.
Has a very matte display. Aggressive anti glare coating means you can still see when your room is bright and your game environment is dark. The wide color gamut helps here too.

Has all the other features you might want: built in powered USB hub, VESA mount, no power brick, reasonably sized bezel.

Cons: Aggressive anti glare coating also means you get a bit of confetti effect in certain situations like looking into a bright sky in a game. Still worth it IMO but if you have doubts it's worth browsing montiors in person to see if you are more bothered by this effect, or by glare. You're going to have one or the other.

The bezel meets the screen in a very concave fashion and they are not "sealed" against each other -- any liquids splashed on the screen will actually drain INTO the case of the monitor.

Other Thoughts: If you're dropping this much cash on a monitor then you should probably get a simple calibrator to get the most out of the high color accuracy.

5 out of 5 eggsBest of the Best

Pros: 30 in 2560 x 1600 ( LOOKS SO GOOD ) worked right out of the box, no need to calibrate but takes a few min to warm up .

Cons: not a one out side of its $1200. You do get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: i am a poor guy but wanted this so i saved and got it and i never looked back yes its that good.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable Beautiful Picture

Pros: Big Picture. Good response time. Looked fantastic at factory setting and after a little calibration it will blow you away. I have a 7970 6gb Radeon that drives monitor with no issues at highest settings.

Cons: Puts out some heat. No OSD but I calibrated with Catalyst driver.

Other Thoughts: I use the monitor for general use, surfing, word processing, and spread sheets. My game of choice is EVE on line. Th graphics at 2560 x 1600 are stunning. I cannot notice any lag at the 7ms rated refresh rate. No ghosting that I can notice. One proble though. I use to run the game with three 1920 x 1080p monitors. Now my main monitor is the ZR30 at 2560x1600. I ma having promblems in that the client will not run at different resolutions. Looks great on new monitor but I cannot run two more instances of client on the other two monitors at their native resolution of 1920x1080p. There has to be a work around for this but I have not found it yet. Other than that I love the monitor though. I have been watching this monitor for about a year. BTW, it is being discontinued for a new is no longer available on the HP website. There are probably few of these left in circulation and they will be gone. Mine had no problems. No dead pixels, no banding or bleed. Color calibration was pretty darn good right out of box. Get one while you can.

1 out of 5 eggsYou can fry an egg with it

Pros: Great resolution. I love this resolution and size.

Cons: Eye strain and heat. Two people have used this monitor and found it caused eye strain. When using it my eyes started watering all day long even when away from the monitor. Stopped using it and no more watering. Repeated cycle once to be sure and now it sits in the corner.

The monitor is hot with the front glass over 110F even when my office is 65F. This is uncomfortable and I think the source of the eye strain.

I would not buy this monitor again under any scenario and despite 2 other HP monitors that I love, I will do a lot more research before buying another.

5 out of 5 eggsawesome

Pros: Awesome monitor. Even though 4k is out now, I still consider myself in the modern era with this monitor. World of tanks is awesome with this monitor. Thanks HP! Hope a newer monitor comes out, cause I'm planning on getting two more.

Cons: Had to RMA the first one that came in. The second one worked greatly!

Other Thoughts: This monitor gives my dual gtx 680s something to do. I knew I was missing something when I was playing at 1920x1080. 2056x1600, wow!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Incredible resolution and size. I should have gotten one of these a long time ago. I use it mainly for Max, Photoshop, After Effects, etc. but it works great with games as well. Can't see any lag or anything like that (that people are always worried about with these monitors). Just a great buy.

Cons: Price. It's pretty dang expensive considering that other (1920x1080) monitors have come down to such a low price.

5 out of 5 eggsFine piece

Pros: After all the reviews I read I was somewhat despondent to purchase but, I was either lucky or the Q.C. is much better. Very nice monitor, no damage, no bad pixels, used DVI-D cable very nice color, very happy! ( :

Other Thoughts: Very good for Autocad or Solidworks users (LOTS OF SCREEN)

4 out of 5 eggsMy update on ZR30w - after 2 years

Pros: High performance, high resolution, large format monitor.

Cons: Needs color calibration; considerably off, using factory setting. (I used Datacolor Spyder software) It makes quite a difference, in critical color work. Brightness seems lower, over time. It definitely gets brighter, and stabilizes brighter after about 10-15 minutes from turned on. Price is very high, although the monitor has few peers, and some others are more expensive. In the purchase of a second large format monitor for my office upgrade, I recently purchased (another source) an HP ZR2740w monitor. (Still have the 30 inch)

Other Thoughts: In a recent upgrade of my office equipment (private engineering practice), I added a new HP ZR2740w monitor. Two things drove my decision: nearly the same size; substantially lower cost. The ZR2740w monitor is a lot of bang for the buck, as they say. A GREAT value. One extreme surprise that I have appreciated a lot is the MUCH brighter screen of the ZR2740w, over that of the ZR30w. Also, when it initially turns on, it is full brightness. There is no "warm up" to full brightness. This is geatly appreciated. I believe this is perhaps due to the LED backlighting improvement, not used in the older monitors. Both are good monitors, but I am greatly impressed with the savings, and high performance of the new 27 inch HP monitor. Given the choice today, I would have purchased the 27 inch monitor over the 30 inch.

I really appreciate the extra brightness of the ZR2740w monitor. But, you do have to turn it down in lower lighting conditions. I have set up shortcut keys on my keyboard to do this, using the Catalyst Control Center software that comes with Radeon based graphics cards that I use. (My card is the HIS7870, which I purchased from newegg)

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor

Pros: PC gaming at this resolution is beautiful; the colors are great the display is solid with no pixel issues or back light bleed. If you are thinking about this monitor but, are holding back due to the lack of an OSD....don't. The picture looks amazing out of the box. The brightness adjustment is all you really need. No ghosting on any of the games either.

Cons: People or (Kids) that don't appreciate a great piece of hardware. People that write erroneous reviews that do not own the product.

Other Thoughts: Great monitor.. :)
