5 out of 5 eggsDunno what everyone is complaining about...

Pros: Nice and thin design, The picture quality is simply amazing, The 3D effects are beautiful when you're at the right distance from the screen, Anything 2D from games to pictures to movies can be converted into 3D.. It's honestly much better then I was expecting because I've heard nothing but bad things about "2D to 3D Conversion" TVs... I have absolutely no complaints about it.

Cons: None?

Other Thoughts: I really can't see a reason to why any of these people are complaining, All my features work perfect.. I almost didn't buy it because of all the negative feedback, I'm so glad I did.

5 out of 5 eggsDon't listen to this, it's awesome.

Pros: 3D for $130 bucks at the time I bought it.
HDMI, DVI and VGA all available.
Passive 3D

Cons: None. Maybe the viewing angle but it doesn't really bother me at all.

Other Thoughts: Some people are complaining that it's not a good monitor for 3D...i'm not entirely sure I agree.

You can watch any video in 3D with a click of a button (literally), you don't need to do anything extra. The CD that comes with this monitor contains cyberlink powerdvd and you can watch all videos through that in 3D. However, if you truly want the 3D experience you will need a 3D movie, not a 2D that gets converted into 3D, which by the way cyberlink can do for you, but again it's not as good.

So download all movies in 3D 1080p (8-14gb) or buy them (lol) and you will realize how great it is that you have a 3D set up in your room that is as great as in the theater. Also, it's passive 3D, which means you put on your glasses, turn 3D on and you're set.

As far as games go, if you have Nvidia you can use stereoscopic 3D in the control panel and then just start any game, press ctrl + t to switch to 3D and you're good to go. Again, not all games are going to look good in 3D and some might not work at all. I managed to play Batman Arkham Origins in 3D and it's freaking awesome. Also, realize that 3D will eat up your vram so you will need to a great video card to play high demanding games in 3D. AMD cards can be played through tridef 3D, which also comes with the CD.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor

Pros: -Got it for $120 free shipping
-Bright colors and clean picture
-2 Glasses
-HDMI and DVI plugs

Cons: -Had to adjust colors out of box
-If you look closely there are small black lines due to the polarizing screen, not noticeable for normal use

Other Thoughts: I got Nvidia 3D working on this monitor, which I personally think is better than the TriDef software this monitor comes with. The 3D has lots of depth and things pop out. Bluray movies in 3D are great, and don't strain your eyes too much. However to prevent ghosting, you have a fairly small viewing angle when viewing in 3D

3 out of 5 eggsGood 2d monitor don't buy for the 3d

Pros: this is a great monitor for the price of 149.99 but if you want 3d avoid it like the flu.

Cons: 3d on this monitor is rubbish. I own three of them and run them all on different rigs. It's more trouble then it's worth. I wouldn't waste the for the 3d on this monitor but if you want a nice 1080 monitor that can but shouldn't be 3d, this is the one for you

2 out of 5 eggsCrisp Picture, Annoying Lines

Pros: -Very crisp picture
-Great price for 3D

Cons: -Noticeable black lines run across the entire screen.

Other Thoughts: Ok if it is being used only for 3d blu rays, otherwise spend more on a 3d monitor

5 out of 5 eggsLoving it so far

Pros: Great 2D quality
Amazing 3D quality
Comes with 2 glasses
Cheap as heck right now
Comes with own HDMI cable (read below in cons before using it though)
Slimmer and lighter than my older Acer 20" flat screen
Stand easy to assemble and sturdy enough

Cons: The Tridef software included is dated and getting it to function properly took me some time. I tried to directly install the update from their site, but I kept getting errors and couldn't get it to function properly. A user below has a guide on how to update it properly (which I managed to find out through trial and error), so read that before getting it all set up.

I could not get the HDMI to work properly on this monitor. It looked like it was stuck in a smaller resolution (but didn't stretch with the screen), and the general image quality was really messed up along with the 3D. Eventually I tried the DVI input and that made a world of difference.

Other Thoughts: After some minor software issues, I'd say I'm quite happy with this purchase. For $130 (with promo code), this is a major steal for a 3D monitor, and I'd totally grab one while you can.

I mainly bought this to play WoW on, and I'm very happy with the 3D. It puts a whole new perspective in the game (flying around certain zones is absolutely beautiful).

The Tridef software has a "Power 3D" feature you can enable, which puts an even greater depth and effect on the 3D, which really makes certain games sing. Of course, enabling this takes more umpfh from your graphics card, so you'll likely have a performance drop. Skyrim looked the best with this enabled, but was also the choppiest in FPS, so I had to use the standard setting.

This brings me to my last comment, which is: you NEED a rig and decent graphics card that's capable of handling one of these monitors if you intend to game with it.

But first my review....

1. The 3D is very convincing and nice looking
2. The tridef software is very good and gaming in 3D is amazing
3. The cyberlink software lets you watch videos in 3D and view photos in 3D it also come with a nice music player.
4. The glasses are good, colors are spot on, no ghosting and can be viewed from a distance.
5. A very full featured OSD menu with very fine tuned settings
6. Very bright display

Now on to what you need to know... (Very Important)

1. Yes, the TriDef 3D software that HP provides is very outdated and dosen't support much and dosen't have the improvements the new version does, but...

Here's how to get updated to the latest version (6.0 as of Dec 2013)

1. Install the HP OEM version of TriDef 3D
2. After installing open the tridef ignition panel once then close it
3. Go to and download the latest version of tridef (the 14 day trial)
4. Without uninstalling the HP tridef, install the one you just downloaded
5. Click on display setup, if it asks you if amd HD3D hdmi is your display say no!
6. When the control panel for tridef opens click on standard display types in the drop down menu.
7. Then select interlaced 1920x1080
8. Click apply
9. Click Ok
10. Now when you open tridef ignition it will be the latest version and the best part it will be fully activated!

NOTE: you cannot just install the latest version without installing the hp one first, you'll just get errors about not having a compatible display and there will be noting to select in the drop down menu, plus it won't be activated.

Q. Why do I need the latest tridef?
A. The hp one is very old and only supports 690 games where as the latest has support for 830 games and has had massive improvements to performance and lots of fixes to other games, plus it supports the latest titles now such as COD ghosts, etc....
Q. What about cyberlink powerdvd?
A. The one hp provides on their website is the latest and can play bluray and DVDs.
Now you may notice everyone complaining about the HDMI not working..

How to fix it....
1. You must have the monitor driver from the HP website installed before hand for the HDMI to work! But, trust me DVI is better!

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Don't be misled by the other reviews!! Buy this monitor! At $150 it's a steal!'

NOTE: I was not paid or endorsed by anyone to write this review these are my own personal thoughts and reflections.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor!

Pros: The 3D is very nice and has a convincing effect and can be viewed from a distance. It's very bright and the colors are very good. The included software is great. The power DVD application lets you veiw photos in 3D and watch videos in 3D. The TriDef software works quite well and games look good in 3D. Comes with glasses. ONLY $150!

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: Use DVI not HDMI, much better experiencing.

2 out of 5 eggsDo not buy this monitor

Pros: The 2d works fine regardless of resolution and 3d is possible on it's best settings with the DVI output which is also very nice. There are lots of settings for the monitors. There are presets for movies, gaming, photo, text and also lots of options to change for a custom profile.

Cons: Do not expect any customer support if you have any problems with this monitor. I tried getting the 3d graphics working at the full 1080p resolution with the HDMI but it will not work properly. I first contacted the customer support for the graphics cards I tested it with (two amd, one nvidia, and one intel onboard motherboard graphics) but each one said there were no known problems with the 3d capabilities and that each should work with the 3d monitor at 1080p on the HDMI output. Each one told me to contact the monitor manufacturer's customer support and that's when things get worse.

The HP customer support kept saying there was no possible problems with the monitor and it was the graphics card. I kept telling them it wasn't possible because all the graphics cards I have and tested it with did not work with the 3d settings on HMDI at 1080p as each should. Without bothering to work with me and provide any help with the monitor's settings or any of the other problems that I have with it, they continuously tried brushing me off trying to tell me there was no possible problem with the monitor.

The HDMI settings are supposed to work with gaming consoles as well so that the monitor act as 2d televisions for the consoles but only to display 2d output, but at least mine do not. The monitor does not have speakers so you will not get sound (unless you have a way to do optical to your computer's sound card, motherboard or av system if you have one) and 3d does not work with a console because the only 3d that works with these monitors is a software engine to produce the 3d but the monitors are supposed to work with 2d visuals on consoles. The video is not detected with my PS3 and the monitor displayed a message saying that my PS4's output is beyond the scope of my monitor's resolution. The only way that is possible is if these monitors are not actually 1080p like they claim, or there is something wrong with the two monitors I bought.

In the end, while on the phone with HP's customer support I managed to get connected to a supervisor. I absolutely needed to speak with someone other then the person I was first connected to because he had a very limited command of the English language and was difficult to understand. He also could not understand my problems when I explained them clearly. I spoke to the manager but he completely brushed me off and told me I didn't not have any problems with the monitor because it was not possible and when I asked to speak to his boss he claimed there was no one above him which was a lie because he obviously is not HP's CEO and there is always someone above the people in customer support. When I kept explaining I was having problems with the monitor, he stopped speaking for roughly one to two minutes and refused to communicate with me further and then hung up on me.

It makes no sense to have a costumer support line if you will not offer support for problems with hardware or peripherals and then claim it's not possi

Other Thoughts: Absolute worst customer support experience of my life. These monitors are not worth the low price despite being the least expensive 3d monitors on the market (You absolutely get what you pay for). Also, make sure you look over the lists that AMD and Nvidia provide on their websites for the recommended monitors for the two companies different 3d platforms. The two have different approaches to 3d and this monitor works best with the AMD system. Do not even waste your time with a Nvidia card because the 3d is a total mess (at least with the card I was using). The Nvidia platform is more expensive because it requires a RF emitter and more expensive monitors and glasses but that platform is more popular for different reasons. The AMD platform is much more simplistic and only requires a 3d card, 3d monitor and the included glasses.

Save yourself the time and frustration. Do not buy these monitors and purchase one listed on either AMD or Nvidia's website that are recommended for their products.

I am absolutely sending these monitors back to newegg and claiming they are DOA since the 3d does not work with the HDMI as it, according to their customer support and the stated specifications, is supposed to work.
