5 out of 5 eggsCan't go wrong at this price!

Pros: It's got a 1920x1200 resolution and a matte screen! It's perfect for editing photos if that's what you're into.

The stand it comes with is fantastic as well. The adjustable base lets you contort it to any height and angle you want. The convenient carry handle on it lets you tote it around easily too (the base even fully folds up towards the monitor making it easier to carry around).

Comes with DVI to DVI, VGA to VGA, and DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables (and the power cable too).

Cons: NO HDMI CONNECTION! It's not a deal killer though since you can either buy an HDMI to DVI cable, or an HDMI to Displayport cable right here on Newegg if you need it.

It would have been great if HP would include a mini-displayport adapter or a mini-displayport to displayport cable with the monitor, but at this price it's hard to complain.

Other Thoughts: I am a photographer and I do my own photo editing. I have this monitor attached as a secondary output on a dual-monitor stand alongside my trusty Gateway high def 24" monitor. Being that my primary monitor has a glossy screen, the matte screen on the LA2405x makes comparing how images will look on the two screen types a breeze. Color wise they're nearly identical (the glossy screen on my Gateway monitor does make that screen a touch more contrasty and does punch up the saturation a tiny bit). Both screens are color calibrated and look virtually identical though side-by-side color wise, blues look a little weak compared to my Gateway monitor, but that's because colors have always looked punchy on the Gateway monitor.

The on-screen real estate from having a 1920x1200 resolution makes a difference if you're editing photos compared to 1920x1080 monitors. The price I paid for this monitor is almost 50% less than what I paid for my first 1920x1200 monitor too!

I can't tell you how gaming would be on this screen since I don't do any of that on this system.

3 out of 5 eggsGood resolution, poor horizontal angles

Pros: Good looking, excellent connectivity, extra USB ports, low energy consumption

Cons: Very poor horizontal view angle, probably less than 15. Tried to see static image with 2 other people and had to do it in turns.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic!

Pros: Wow! I needed to match my MacBook Pro's 1920x1200 resolution at a decent price point. This monitor is fantastic right out of the box. No color adjusting necessary - matched the Mac perfectly. ...have not done video work yet... nice to have my spreadsheets crisp and clear. Very happy.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsexcellent for the price

Pros: 1920 x 1200 is the only way to go. I own several different ones, and this one is as good as the rest (Samsung, other HP, Gateway, Dell) and less expensive. Screen looks great, good color, good quality, and no dead pixels.

Cons: none, owned >1 year and still liking it.

Other Thoughts: my own needs are simple, just a good screen to look at. I can't speak for critics who need perfect color and so on, but this suits my business needs perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent monitor

Pros: + Excellent monitor, cheap for the 1920*1200 resolution. + Image is excellent through either connection (I have tested VGA, DVI and DP connections).
+ Rotates to portrait.

I'm buying 5 more of these for my office.

Cons: Price from NewEgg.
I bought it somewhere else $40 cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsWorth It!

Pros: Excellent Contrast Ratio - The blacks are super black, and the lights are super light. It's a great image.

Price - It's the cheapest 1920x1200 as of writing this from NewEgg.

Stand - Flexible stand to position in any scenario!

Dead Pixels - NONE!

Features - IT HAS A USB HUB!

Image - I can't get over how beautiful the image is. I just love looking at the monitor lol.

Cons: I don't know... It's hard to say anything bad. I could say obvious things like "not a higher resolution" or "no speakers", but I'm not expecting those features in this price range.

Other Thoughts: I'm absolutely loving this monitor. It is replacing an older 22" CRT that did 1800x1440. While I'm losing some pixels in terms of resolution, the size of the screen is bigger, and the size and weight are obviously incredibly less. I've used these kind of monitors from HP at the office over the years, despite them being the lower-end models. I was happy with how they worked at the office (never had one fail - had a boss throw a ball and spill water and mess up the bottom of one, but after evaporation was working fine). This model is LED back-light, whereas the ones I use in the office are not. The size and resolution are much greater as well. This is the cheapest 1920x1200 monitor, but has more features than competing monitors that are slightly more expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid monitor, great features, amazing price

Pros: Solid screen. Replace my 10 year old 22" CRT that did 1800 x 1440. I'm missing some pixel space with the replacement, but everything else makes up for it. Definitely more screen area. The contrast ratio rocks. Zero dead pixels. It's very vibrant, and has a giant range of alignment for getting it into the right position. It even comes with a usb hub lol. For the price this monitor is so great. I'm definitely doing to buy another 1 or two.

Cons: Could be a higher resolution? lol

Other Thoughts: This was the cheapest 1920x1200 monitor, but still had better features than higher priced screens. At work we use HP monitors that look similar but are of different resolutions and sizes. This monitor is still a solid step up. Gaming, business, anything.

2 out of 5 eggsBad monitor at a bad price

Pros: Not many, beyond that of any simple and cheap monitor. Will likely tan your face while it burns out your retinas.

Cons: Causes all sorts of eyestrain and headaches, poor color definition and uniformity, not enough input options, way to expensive for this low quality trash.

Other Thoughts: I had a technical and in-depth review but evidently my session timed out before I posted it and it was lost. Sorry.

The bottom line is that even though this has the rare vertical resolution of a good non-widescreen monitor (which is why I bought it), its design and quality are horrible and it's not worth half the price. Wait for this one to go on clearance because that's where it's headed. You can then pick them up at realistic prices and use them to keep your kids from using the computer too much or getting employees to quit without hassle.

3 out of 5 eggsOverall Disappointing

Pros: + Price, compared to other 16:10 aspect screens
+ Energy efficient (LED)
+ No or Virtually no Heat Generation

Cons: - TN panel and small viewing angle
- Vertical viewing angle is really limited
- Consistency in the image brightness (edge to edge/corner to corner) is not great
- Very limited height adjustment when in portrait mode

Other Thoughts: Overall I'm pretty disappointed. Keeping in mind that I put it on a desk alongside a Dell UltraSharp U2412M, which is an IPS panel. This was the big mistake. Compared to the U2412, the HP panel is a real disappointment. However I should have known better and that is my fault. I want to drop it to 2 eggs but I'm moderating my judgement by trying to think about how I'd see the panel by itself. I'd still be less than thrilled but more like 3 eggs. If you need to save the dollars, this screen certainly works and is 16:10. If you can spend just a little more the Dell is a very easy choice and the one I wish I'd made.

5 out of 5 eggsNice product for a good price

Pros: High resolution is always good.

Text is sharp and readable.

Cons: none that I can see. It is a monitor.

Other Thoughts: The high resolution is nice for business applications.
