1 out of 5 eggsDisappointing Reliability from an HP Product

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: The HP Pavilion 23xi is a great monitor with very good resolution and it offers VGA, DVI, and HDMI inputs.

Cons: Reliability is disappointing. After a year of use, the left side of the screen started flickering and developing a pink hue on 1/3 of the screen. Resolution was not significantly effected so it was usable but now, after only 2 years of use, the Pink hue has enveloped the whole screen and text is hard to read as it appears to be blurring.

Other Thoughts: In researching the issue, this appears to be a common issue for this particular monitor. I have been reasonably happy with HP products and I generally associate HP as a trusted brand that you can trust but I think this is a defective model and is not representative of HP's standards of quality.

5 out of 5 eggsGot it on sale, well worth the money

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: This display looks better than I thought it would by far, I bought it for a computer I built for my dad. I almost swapped it with my current monitor. The bezel is quite thin and the stand does a pretty good job of keeping the focus on the good looking screen

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Get it on sale and you won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 eggsGood but could be better

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: -Crisp Picture
-HDMI support
-Sleek Design

Cons: After a year almost exactly to the day, the monitor temporarily went green on the right side of the screen and has been showing signs of the backlight failing ever since so I purchased another monitor.

Other Thoughts: Customer support's only answer was to send me a refurbished model of the same failing monitor on my penny. Needless to say I didn't take them up on that offer due to the fact that the new monitor might just fail in the same way again. It was a good monitor while it lasted but I wouldn't buy this monitor again.

5 out of 5 eggsIPS makes the case.

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: Amazing pixel quality. I frequently find myself dragging windows to the 23" window because they just look nicer. There are so many simple options for customizing the look of a screen to your exact lighting tastes, and makes it look great. having all the ports available (HDMI, DVI, VGA) makes it compatible with everything.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsNice while it lasted...

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: Great color and image quality. A really affordable IPS panel.

Cons: You get what you pay for. 6 months outside of the warranty expiring and the display has started not waking up from sleep. I find myself having to keep power cycling it to make it come back up. Sometimes I have to pull out and reconnect the adapter plug to get it to turn on. The OSD has even frozen in place once or twice on me recently and refused to disappear until I again power cycled the unit; in fact, the problem seems to have worsened to the point that now any resolution change causes the monitor screen to go black at times as well.

Other Thoughts: I've had a lot of monitors over the year, but none of them lasted as short a time as this one. Browsing the net, I discovered these displays are prone this kind of failure and others, leading me to believe this is a second rate product at this stage of the game. Frankly if this is an indicator of what passes for 'quality' at HP, I'm inclined to never buy from them ever again.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful monitor

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: Beautiful picture and matte gloss look. Great for gaming, in my opinion. Easy to set up and get going once received.

Cons: When the monitor arrived at my house 9 months ago, there was what looked like a dead pixel on the display. I rubbed it out using a sock over my finger. 9 months later, no issues or dead pixels.

1 out of 5 eggsAnother Green Tint Problem

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: Beautiful display and great design.

Cons: After owning this monitor for just over a year, I started experiencing the common "green tint" problem with this monitor. Very disappointing. There are so many posts in the forums on HP's website about this problem that most of them don't even have responses from HP technical support. Of course this all happens just right outside of my warranty...

Other Thoughts: HP really should do something about this and issue a recall. I know that I will not be purchasing another HP product because of this. Thanks HP.

2 out of 5 eggsPleased by the monitor, sad it didn't last long.

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: It has a crisp picture and easy to use UI.

Cons: It only lasted 1 year. Literally. 5 days out of warranty the right side of the screen went green.

Other Thoughts: Buy this at your own risk. I talked to customer support for an hour and they just wanted to give me a refurbished model for a ridiculous price. It really is too bad. I thought they were a different company but this proves me wrong.

1 out of 5 eggsBeautiful, while it lasted

This review is from: HP Pavilion 23xi Silver / Black 23" 7ms HDMI Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 250 cd/m2 10,000,000:1

Pros: Beautiful Colors, while it lasted

Cons: Monitor Died Shortly out of warranty period, similar to all other reports of failure here my left hand side of the screen began to show discoloration as well as heavy pixelation shortly outside of the warranty period. Unfortunately even though this is a known issue HP has not and will not likely issue a recall. This was 280 dollars when purchased new, and now feels like a wasted investment. I wouldn't suggest this, or any HP monitors.
