5 out of 5 eggsVery attractive monitor

Pros: Design
Small Size
Resolution
Price

Cons: No VESA mount
No display port.

Other Thoughts: This is a very elegant monitor, much smaller footprint than the ASUS 27" monitor with which it shares my desk. No wasted space-minimal frame.
The color and sharpness were excellent right out of the box. If there are any dead pixels, I do not see them. I have three small complaints: 1) No VESA mount; 2) No display port - who needs a D-SUB (VGA) these days; and 3) Newegg shipped it in the kind of box that you get from a big box store - they did not re-pack it in a larger box for UPS shipment. Mine arrived in good shape, but I would bet this is not always the case. It is not quite as sharp as my HP ZR2440W, but it is cheaper, slimmer and bigger, so I excuse this fault as well. Recommended.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: A lovely monitor that is good enough for anything except the most exacting color work. Under $300, I defy you to find anything better. Text is clear and crisp, color and overall resolution superior. Being used in dual screen mode with MacBook Pro Retina laptop. When you drag an image from the Retina side to the HP side, the IQ is at least equal if not better. Nice stand with metal fittings.

Cons: Screen is gloss, so some light control is needed in the room where you use it.

3 out of 5 eggsWay too reflective

Pros: Beautiful image and colors, nice refresh rate for IPS

Cons: Way too reflective for me. I underestimated the other reviews. It's like a mirror and anytime it's a darker image I see everything reflected back - and I'm not in a bright room.

Other Thoughts: I rarely return/exchange items, but this may be a deal breaker for me. Not sure why they couldn't have put more effort into anti-reflective coating.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Large, very sharp, inexpensive for what you get. No dead/stuck or otherwise miss-behaving pixels. Comes with analog and dvi-d cables.

Cons: Very reflective screen.
Not cons really but...no speakers, no usb ports, no hdmi cable, menus are a pain to navigate at first.

Other Thoughts: Picked this up a couple weeks ago to replace a 21" flat screen CRT monitor that has provided me professional 1600x1200 image quality for many years. Every LCD monitor I'd seen to date left me thinking I'd have to spend big $$ for a pro monitor. This monitor serves my needs. First impression of the monitor sitting there is that it is that it's too reflective to be useful. But as soon as it's turned on most of that goes away. I only use it for photo/video editing and the reflectiveness doesn't bother me. If I had a window or other bright light source behind me I might think otherwise. What the surface does do is make everything look very sharp and crisp.

Out of the box the monitor is VERY bright. After calibration brightness was down to 30 and I was able to calibrate it to cover most of the full video range. I'm very happy with this monitor and would recommend it to others.

5 out of 5 eggsSuperior Monitor

Pros: 27 inches of excellent, glorious, magnificent, super, out of sight, outstanding, superb, tremendous, I can’t say how much I like this monitor this the best HP monitor to date and I have three of them but the first IPS monitor, I have not found any thing not to like about this monitor. HP has done it again that is for sure a real winner.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: I had the Hp 2711x and this upgrade is very similar, but with better vivid colors. It is a lot better for working with web designing and Adobe Photoshop then 2711x, but gaming wise I think both have their own unique features which is really hard to explain, you have to see it.

Cons: Just needed to adjust the back of the monitor to a bit lower, because i worked with 2711x before and still do.

Other Thoughts: I think it'll be great to put 3 of these monitors together, since their border is thin and make it into an ultimate gaming experience.

5 out of 5 eggsHP Always for Monitors

Pros: Screen size @27inches. Tiny Bezel. Backlit IPS so you can view at any angle without washout. Glossy look. Controls are touch sensitive no buttons just touch. also the software HP provides has a surprising amount of functionality once you get used to it. I didn't even notice the touch buttons till day 2.

I play all the current games and it performs like a champ. It's also great for watching high def movies and blue rays. Works and looks great.

Easy to assemble stand and not as wobbly as previous HP 27 inch offering from last year.

Brushed aluminum base and control panel with black bezel that blends very nice into the screen.

This would be an awesome monitor choice for Nvidia Surround or AMD Eyefinity setups due to tiny bezels.

Cons: Response time a little slower on the IPS panels but the difference is small enough you do not notice it. Still games without issue.

The rest of these are not really cons but....

It's 27 inch but does not look like it but I slapped a tape measure and it's a 27. I think it's the tiny thin bezel that makes it seem small. the other screens I had the bezels were a good inch and a half so it's just a getting used to thing.

You do not even notice the touch controls for making color adjustments without looking close.

Not a 2560 or so resolution which is where things will be heading soon. It's still to early to find that though at this price point unless you buy one of the Korean imports off e-bay. Me I will wait.

Other Thoughts: I got this from HP Direct. Would have bought from Egg but I get a corporate perk price from HP that I cannot pass up.

I love HP monitors. This is my 4th HP screen in the last 6 years or so. All my old screens are still running on other computers that I sold to friends and co-workers. they last well and look great. If you walk into a monitor showroom the HP's draw you in with there look.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Best Monitor I have ever owned!

Pros: I purchase purchased and had to return 4 monitors before I got this one. I purchased an ACER which had strong LED bleed though on all sides, then I purchased a Samsung and there was bleed though on 2 sides, after that I went for two LGs and the first one did not have support for it in the US and I could not even register it on LGs website because it was not listed, I then purchased another LG and this one was good in most ways but it was cloudy.
I saw the New HP Pavilion 27xi and thought I would give it a try, because I have owned HP in the past and was happy with them. After setting it up it took me less than 20 minutes to calibrate it, while it took over 2 hours to calibrate the LGs because of the cloudiness. After calibration it displayed a great picture with great clarity and color. It is also great with dark colors and black backgrounds which was the problem with the other monitors. Great monitor and great price!

Cons: Nothing yet, but it would be nice to be able to adjust the height.

5 out of 5 eggsSweeeeet!

Pros: Colors
Excellent Black level
Thin bezel makes the picture more lifelike
no dead pixels
minimal backlight bleed.
BIG!

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: This is a great piece of hardware to own. Make sure that you readjust your ClearType so your letters come out nice and clear. Monitor has onboard calibration tools that will help you find the perfect brightness/contrast levels. Other than that, I upgraded for a HP 2709m and what a difference. Def a thumbs up.
