4 out of 5 eggsIndustrial, but functional

Pros: Monitor screen size, black industrial look

Cons: weight, black industrial look

Other Thoughts: People are going to think the look/finish is either great, or horrible. Fit is solid, screen size superb.

5 out of 5 eggsIt is H-IPS

Pros: Read other thoughts.

Cons: Read other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I Just wanted to comment on Just-Checked-Up-On-I review of this monitor. He/She is incorrect. The webpage states that it is an S-IPS monitor but the webpage incorrectly has the wrong information there. I have had this monitor for over a year now did an extensive review on it and I took pictures of the pixels. The panel is indeed an H-IPS NOT a S-IPS. Sometimes you can not go by the manufacturers own specifications. Here is the pixels of my DS-307W monitor. You can see in the photo it is indeed a H-IPS panel.

1 out of 5 eggsSamsung

Pros: It has an external power supply.

Cons: The left side of the screen went out on me right away. It was flickering and colors shifting and offset. The right side looked great. I used 3 different dual link DVI cards, and 2 different computers.

Other Thoughts: It's manufactured by Samsung. I have had every Samsung monitor fail on me right either immediately or right after the warranty expires. I wouldn't have purchased it if I had realized Samsung was the manufacturer.

4 out of 5 eggsOwners Are Lost

Pros: All the reviews for this monitor are incorrect. If you go to the DoubleSight web page for this monitor it is a S-IPS monitor, not H-IPS!

Under Specification > Panel Type: S-IPS

Cons: None, I am just looking into monitors and wanted to straighten anyone out that thinks this is different than the Dell or HP.

3 out of 5 eggsCould have been awesome

Pros: High Resolutions (of course)
Awesome stand.
Flexible inputs.
Power supply is external.

Cons: Lots of wasted space in bezels, bigger footprint than needed. Monitor arrived damaged from factory, some functions don't work.

Other Thoughts: This monitor has a huge, heavy, brushed aluminum chassis. Mine arrived with a lage dent on one side, where it was struck with enough force to bend some internal brackets and shear through the screws holding the bezel together. Since the packaging was pristine, this obviously happened at the factory, and the unit was simply boxed up and sent on it's way. I can probably bang it back into shape and cobble it back together, but this isn't supposed to be a cheap disposable monitor.

The VGA and HDMI inputs didn't work (despite trying a couple of cables). The DVI inputs, fortunately, work fine and I'll that rather than paying shipping and RMA charges.

The picture is good, and the screen is bright and evenly illuminated. I've been using a Samsung 305T for a few years, and I think the contrast is slightly better on the DoubleSight. Overall, this would have been a good value if the company had implemented any sort of quality control.

5 out of 5 eggsLooks good to me

Pros: Just built a new computer and chose this monitor. Solid. Nice brushed aluminum frame. Does radiate a bit of heat through the frame. No stuck pixels. Used a ColorMunki to calibrate it. Looks very good. The real estate is wonderful. This is a photoshop system - not a game system. I do not push it for speed but wanted good color. Like it so far.

Cons: Need some desk space.

Other Thoughts: It was a hard decision to try a 30". And then which one. I love it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Screen

Pros: * No dead/stuck pixels
* Big bright looks nice in games
* Nice brushed aluminum finish
* Alot better color then a TN panel

Cons: the only con is it is a bit fuzzy from the anti glare but not to the point of being annoying.

Other Thoughts: Its nice and it is a H-IPS unlike the other brands that are S-IPS . H-IPS is newer.

5 out of 5 eggsSo far it's awesome

Pros: BIG! Bright and beautiful screen. Nice colors. Very tight dot pitch for text. Built in scaling ability (in case u run a 16:9 or 4:3 source). My last monitor by doublesight didnt have it and it made PS3 look fuuny all stretched out in 16:10.
Star Wars the Old Republic at 2560x1600 is PHENOMINAL. as Im sure all games will be.

Cons: None so far. The appearance is a little bland (brushed black finish) and the back looks odd being all aluminum (for heat disipation) but this thing is functioning well so far...

Other Thoughts: When I plugged in my PC via HDMI the picture only went to 1080p. Not unexpected, but a tad surprising since I know HDMI supports at least 1900x1200.
When I went dual-link DVI the picture auto adjusted to 2560x1600.
The monitor was VERY dull/dim when I was first tuning it and I was afraid that the 370 brightness was too low. Found out there is an eco setting in the menu defaulted to 50 %, turning the brighness wayyyy down no matter how you fine tune the osd. Crank it up a tad (I went 100%) and it is all good again.
I know it's not my place to tell you to watch which video cards you are using, but just remember that playing games at this resolution strains the card ALOT more than 1080 and 1900x1200. I am running two Nvidia GTX 580s and have not had the first sign of stuttering, even with all the eye candy turned on (cant wait for Kepler tho).
