Pros: No doubt that Elo monitors are the best for business environment. Nearly indestructible.

Cons: Rarely lost touch function on windows xp but usually easy to fix doing reboot computers.

4 out of 5 eggsgood 15" touchscreen

Pros: Heavy duty (as well as heavy). Nice simple tilt feature for easy access to back panel and plastic panels.

Cons: not necessarily a con, nor different from most competitors, but it is on the heavy side.

Other Thoughts: If your touchscreen does what it's supposed to the next question is does it last. well over a year and so far so good.

4 out of 5 eggsLinux Point-of-Sales

Pros: Works as expected and does the job it needs to. Haven't had any huge problems with it. Works in Linux but...

Cons: ...you have to use the serial connection. If you intend to use USB because you have no serial connectors, make sure to have a Serial/USB adaptor. The USB driver is flaky at best. I couldn't use ELO's drivers as they require an older kernel than I'm using.

Also, on Debian Lenny the driver for the touch screen needs a little modification before it'll work (which looks like it may have been fixed since I tried to use it). Debian Squeeze and newer drivers work fine but if you drop out of X into the console, the screen doesn't display anything. This isn't a problem with a login manager such as xdm or gdm.

Other Thoughts: That said, if you're looking for a touch screen for Linux this isn't a bad choice. I've had no issues with this touch screen since I've installed it. The only one being some calibration issues which are my own lazyness.

I'd like to add that maybe the usb connection works fine. I found success with the serial driver and stuck with it as I needed to get it done in a hurry. From what I understand serial drivers are just more mature than the USB counterpart for linux. So keep this in mind when picking it up.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Really durable touch screen monitor. Used it with a UPS shipping manager by Pitney Bowes. Worked flawlessly. Was fun to use on the net also.

Cons: It does beep (can get annoying) unless you tell the software not to.
