3 out of 5 eggsGreat buy at first

Pros: bulb lasted longer than 3000 hours

Cons: melted plastic piece in motor, DLP chip failing after 2 years of ownership, in total spent $1000 with purchase & replacement parts

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: instead of measuring my screen by inches, i now measure it in feet. Playing BF3 and WOW, and it feels like i could step right into the game. Graphics are even better than on my 32 inch 720p lcd.

Cons: the remote is a pain to figure out.

Other Thoughts: was looking for a second tv / monitor for gaming......ran across this and will never even think about owning another tv again, i could care less if i have to buy a new bulb once a year, its more than worth it.

2 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: It can actually do 3d.

Cons: No support

Other Thoughts: To continue, if you search hard enough there are ways to force the resolution to stay at 120hz during the 3d setup.
The only support is the "search" function, albeit a headache gamble, and hope for the best. Optoma needs to get their act straight on this one.

1 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected

Pros: It's a short throw projector with a decent 2d picture.

Cons: 3d is a gimmick and an expensive one.

Other Thoughts: So I bought this around 8 months ago. Never really got to use it until recently I get my condo. I've had a 3d ready Nvidia gt 260 core 216 for a while now and always wondered what 3d would look like. So now I drop a few hundred more and got a pair of the nvidia 3d version 2 glasses for me and a possible visitor thinking how great this is going to be. One problem, THIS PROJECTOR IS NOT NVIDIA CERTIFIED. If you go to a direct competitor's site they label it Nvidia certified (ZON). I call nvidia, they say it's not Nvidia Certified. I call Optoma and all he says is if you want 3d you got to get a gt720, but this one won't work. If you look anywhere, this is a 3d ready projector. Even on Optoma's website it says it's 3d. "Just hook it to your 3d ready computer". I feel ripped off!!! Anyone want to buy this one?

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased!

Pros: A TV the size of my wall! I really didn't need this but I'm a sucker for technology. None of my friends have one and I randomly came across a good deal on another website that got me interested in these. I did my research a little and finally committed to buying this. I am very happy I did. A lot of reviews said if your debating buying a projector just do it, I agree. You can do some research on youtube with these projectors which helped me deciding. I finally chose the GT700 over the optoma hd20. The picture is a lot better than I thought it would be.

Cons: After using a while it will make your 37" Tv look like 19". Spoils you a little

Other Thoughts: I hope my bulb lasts its full life. That's a cost you have to think about in the long run.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: works great, have it set up in my front room with a 8' wide image. Works in the day with a good deal of light in the room. Best price for a 6:10 HDMI ready projector.

Cons: No way to mute sound when other speakers are pluged in to the projector. I knew this going in, seemed like a fair trade off for the $610 price tag.

5 out of 5 eggsTotally Satisfied

Pros: ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT PICTURE (HDMI). My bedroom has the afternoon sunlight coming in from the right side and the drapes are sufficient. I have my laptop hooked to this and I can read the icon labels on my windows desktop from 12ft away.

EXCELLENT COLOR ADJUSTMENT. When I got this from newegg I did not have a screen but I couldn't wait to try it out so I decided to give it a test run on my warm peach colored wall. I was able to neutralize the peach to near perfect color quality. I know that this may sound like an exaggeration so I will probably post the video. I eventually decided to go with"screen paint" ($200 including tax and shipping) and to this day I still get WOWED! by the image quality.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED

SHORT THROW/ SCREEN SIZE 11ft+(diagonal). This is with a throw distance of about 8ft+. This averages about 1ft diagonal screen for every 10in distance from the screen that you project.

Cons: There are no cons for me. I was not getting this projector for the sound. I have the sound coming threw my laptop which is hooked up with a spare 2.1 speaker/subwoofer combo. The speakers are situated above my bedhead pointing downward about two feet below the ceiling. The sub is central but facing forward to push the bass out into the bedroom. This is good enough to handle my sound needs for the bedroom. With the sub on the wall above our bedhead the vibrations from a deep base can be felt manytimes in the bed which is always cool.

Other Thoughts: My wife who, wanted to get a "big screen" tv for the bedroom, was not convinced until she saw 12ft of diagonal brilliance. We have a 50in tv in the living room which we have not looked at since.

With the laptop projector combo, I can output anything to the bigscreen anywhere in the house I can hang a white sheet. This of course is not going to happen with my wife around.

Television is easily done by using a tuner card in the laptop. If you don't have a decent laptop or something that outputs HDMI with a tuner you might consider getting a HTPC

2 out of 5 eggsGreat image Quality, Audio Issue

Pros: The image quality on this projector is superb! Just keep in mind it is a short throw projector so the image it projects is immense from a very short distance. It is mainly marketed for gaming but I hooked up my laptop, which has an HDMI output, and played a few HD movies to see the quality of the image. For a lack of better words...WOW! Great projector for the price.

Cons: The speakers on the projector are decent at best. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because of one HUGE design flaw in my opinion. The 3.5 mm Audio output jack. When you plug speakers or headphones in to the jack...THE SOUND COMING FROM THE PROJECTOR SPEAKERS DOESN'T SHUT OFF!!!! Yes you can hear sound coming from whatever you plugged in, but if the projector speakers dont shut off that defeats the purpose of headphones. I tried everything I could to shut out the speakers on the projector with zero success. Went through the entire menu...nothing. Read the entire user manual...nothing. Turning the volume down on the projector also turns down the volume on the output jack. I finally called Optomo Tech Support to see if there was some kind of fix. The Tech on the phone said "Ya, there is no way to turn that off." No way to upgrade firmware either. Needless to say I am utterly shocked that they could have overlooked something so simple.

Other Thoughts: I'm seriously contemplating if I should return this projector. Oh and the GT720 has the same problem according to the Optoma Tech. You have been warned.

4 out of 5 eggsAmazing little budget projector

Pros: Very bright

Extremely short throw distance!

Decent black levels because of DLP

Multitude of adjustments

Bulb lasts 2-2.5x as long as similarly priced projectors

Focus ring "just right" in that it's easy to adjust, but not too loose that it loses focus when bumped.

Component, Composite, HDMI, and VGA all supported

Cons: NO ZOOM

Extremely short throw distance!

1 friend noticed rainbowing

Lens cap doesn't fit securely

Only 1 of each input

Included speaker is loud but hollow sounding, but much better quality than any other sub $1000 projector on the market

Aspect ratio is slightly off. On known exact 16:9 screen the image is either 3 inches too short or you have to project it off the sides slightly.

Mounting holes are not centered, this causes the projector to always want to tilt to 1 side when mounted.

Other Thoughts: I am very happy with this purchase. The color accuracy is fairly decent once calibration has happened.

The only but major issue I have with this projector is the complete lack of zoom, this made ceiling mounting it a real chore.

The extremely short throw distance is a blessing and a curse. You can get huge screen sizes from a very short distance (100" screen from 6' away), but it also means that every inch of horizontal movement makes a huge impact on horizontal keystoning that you cannot adjust through software.

You need to get this unit dead center or you will have bad horizontal keystoning.

You do not get to choose where you will mount or set it, the fixed zoom will choose for you. A few inches of lateral adjustment in location can be had by by playing with overscan and edge cropping.

5 out of 5 eggsI love my unit.

Pros: I have used this projector for almost a year as my living room TV. It averages about 4 to 5 hrs of use per day with no problems. It has a bright, crystal clear, high definition, 10ft x 6ft picture. I watch my DirecTV services, DVDs, and Wii on it. All I can say is it is awesome especially for the price.

Cons: The remote has a poor set up but who cares. I just use it to turn it on and off.
