5 out of 5 eggsVERY happy with this purchase

Pros: I recently purchased a home with a movie theater, but no projector. I set my budget at $1000 and this was the one I went with. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The image is crystal clear and I have had no issues with blurry edges like some comments have described. Playing Zelda with the Wii U plugged into this on my 103" screen was a true experience.

Cons: Nothing I can tell so far.

2 out of 5 eggsBlurry

Pros: 17 Millisecond input latency is awesome. This projector is the best you can get for gaming. Easy to use, easy to setup, works right out of the box.

Cons: Doesn't come with a lens cap.
Blurry. No matter how I focus, at least one corner of the screen is too blurry to read text. I'm still researching on-line but I've run across many comments from other people who purchased this HD25e model confirming the same. Some said they've sent their unit in to Optoma for replacements and saw improvement. Others said they've done the same and received back units that still had the problem, sometimes replacing it 4 or 5 times.. I've placed this unit in the exact spot as my previous projector (an optoma HD20) and did not have this problem.
The other issue I have is with watching on-line video like youtube, when I toggle to full-screen or back, the screen goes blank and the projector has to re-detect the input signal, even though I have my resolution set to the native 1080p and am watching the video in 1080p. When it re-detects the input signal, it even displays that it detected the same resolution. Four days ago, I opened a support ticket with Optoma asking about this, but they have not responded yet. I did not have this issue with my previous projector, which was an Optoma HD20.

Other Thoughts: I'm pretty unhappy with my purchase of this product. I very much hope Optoma is able to address the issues, otherwise I think I've wasted nearly a thousand dollars. I will update my review if optoma responds to my support ticket.

5 out of 5 eggsFor under $1000 this projector is "UNBEATABLE"

Pros: I purchase this to replace my well aged BenQ W500...
And all I can say is WOW ! ! !

Straight out of the box and onto the wall I am getting a gorgeous 130" diagonal picture at a 16' throw. The colors are amazing and the contrast is surprisingly crisp for a sub $1000 projector. This projector is able to blast through all ambient and artificial lighting in the theater and even on a sunny noon day I only have to close the curtains (haven't touched the black out shades in weeks now!) to get a theatre quality image. The fan is whisper quiet while running and from pressing power off the cool down period is a mere 10 seconds.

Cons: My only real gripe about the HD25e is that there seems to be a bit of a Q&A issue at the lens factory, not only in the reports of 'blurry edged lenses' (which thankfully I avoided) but that there was large amount of dust on the inside of the lens and two small fingerprints on the outside of the lens. Again not deal breakers, but be sure to give the lens the once over before mounting the projector out of reach.

Other Thoughts: Now this projector is great but it is not without some... err... places for improvement. Signal pick up is a bit slow on the HDMI and be double sure to turn off the ever annoying auto-seek-input function. The light leak, should you be so inclined to look at the projector from the front is quite noticeable, but the amount of lumen to the wall means you will never ever be bothered by it as long as it is ceiling mounted. There is also an even so small amount of the rainbow effect, but at 130" and sitting 14' back it is visible in only the darkest and brightest of scenes and should not be a deal breaker for those of us in this price range.

5 out of 5 eggsMade the jump from a decent LCD to this...Fantastic for gaming too!

Pros: Sound: This thing is pretty dang quiet

Settings: Out of the box looks great but you can look online to change the plethora of settings.

Gaming: NO INPUT LAG! This deserves to be in all caps. I play Battlefield 4 on Xbox One and it is perfect!!

Cost: I can't believe more people havent made the jump for this sub $1000 projector. Then again, Big Box Store USA loves to make a killing on overpriced TV's so they wont display a projector setup.

Cons: No Lens Cover in the packaging...

The plastic on the wrapping of the projector appears to be cut open and then taped shut. Not sure why I received an open one but the product itself does not deserve a star off.

Other Thoughts: picked up a 100" sub-$100 screen with 1.0 gain and it works fantastic! At 11' away it almost fills the 100" screen when zoom is in the middle.
