Amazing!!!
- Pros: This pico projector is awesome! It's ridiculously small, yet can deliver a very good and clear picture up to 50 inches. I have been using mine to mostly watch movies and play my old Xbox games with it, and I get a great, large viewing screen utilizing very little space and cost. And the best part is that the LED will not burn out any time soon thanks to a 10k life expectancy.
- Cons: The only real con about this projector is that yes, it isn't as bright and intense as one would expect a 40 - 50 lumens projector to be, (like it says, it doesn't get that bright) but as long as you have a good dark place, I can honestly say you really won't notice.
I also wish that 3M made a mounting bracket for this model, but you can either but one for a regular digital camera, or just make one yourself like I did.
- Other Thoughts: This projector delivers a good, 50 " display with 480p rez, doesn't get ridiculously hot, and you can hook it up to any device that uses a standard VGA, or standard analog video output, and all for under 200 bucks!
If you realize what the devices limitations are, and aren't making board room presentation with it, or trying to replace a real home projector, then I'd say you could only do better by buying the new 3M model, which can display up to 720p, and is a few lumens brighter, which is something I will more than likely purchase given how much I liked this one.
Maybe a Toy?
- Pros: Kinda works with an older DELL Inspiron and the DELL Mini 9.
- Cons: Even in a completely dark room the results are marginable. The picture only looks good if you get the size down a little, but then you can just look at your laptop screen, so what's the point? Light is also distributed around the picture and it reduces the contrast quite a bit. The picture looks "washed out" with not enough brightness and not enough contrast to be really usable.
- Other Thoughts: This projector is is a gimmick at best; make sure you have a VGA monitor extension cable since the cable is very, very short. The unit gets pretty hot, but that seems to be normal.
immature product
- Pros: How awesome is it to carry around a tiny, battery powered projector that's about the size of a cell phone?
- Cons: When you consider this model has a 10-lumen output and 640x480 max resolution, not that awesome really. If you're going to use this, you have to be in a *really* dark room. Things like text stop being legible after about 25", and plain video gets to be painfully blurry after about 40". I'm in a one-TV household, and I thought that this might be fun as a second display for the Wii, but I really just can't get my apartment dark enough for the picture to be anything but mud.
There's a significant screen-door effect after about 40", and the image is curved in at the corners with no way to adjust it. I'd return the unit, but Newegg doesn't allow anything but exchanges for the same item with a refurb.
- Other Thoughts: Even as cheap as this unit is, I find it very hard to justify the cost of the unit now that I've seen it work. I have high hopes for small LED projectors as a technology, but this unit isn't at all compelling.
