5 out of 5 eggsNothing bad to say about it.

Pros: -16:10 for the win! I know some reviewers rated this as a con, but seriously? You get more vertical screen space! That's a boon for the widescreen era. I wish more monitors had kept this aspect ratio.

-Good clarity and brightness.

Cons: Mine came with one lonely little dead pixel. But that sort of comes with the territory of mail-order monitors.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend it for anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsNot a bad choice

Pros: Bright brilliant display perfect for playing games and really lights up a dark room so don't sit too close to it. Otherwise there are no real complaints besides dimming it a big if you are going to be doing extensive web browsing.

Cons: Cheap flimsy desk mount. This is the only reason I marked off one egg. I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A sitting on my desk and the monitor shakes like an earthquake when it's printing. Otherwise no complaints.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS VW224U 22" Monitor

Pros: Fast response time, viewable screen size of 19" length by 12" height (22" diagonal). This is my second Asus monitor. my 6 year old 17" was becoming intermittent. Huge difference in screen size, same excellent picture quality. I used the recommendations for setup from a previous post and they work well for me.

Cons: The settings should be easier to access, but not a big enough problem to degrade my rating of this monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: I started writing this mostly to complain about a persistent hum that seemed to have gotten louder today for some reason after two years of ownership, but I figured it out. For some reason, there are speakers built into this--I had no idea until now--turn off the speakers, hum gone. Hooray.

Cons: Besides the now-gone hum, none.

5 out of 5 eggsgoing back for another one

Pros: Very bright and crisp

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: I'm running one of these in a dual monitor set up. This monitor makes my older Asus dingy and yellow looking. Now I'm going to pick up another one and get rid of my older Asus. Two together will look great.
Newegg is TOPS as always.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the Money!

Pros: -Nice and vivid screen
-Large
-Well priced
-3 year warranty

Cons: -The buttons are a bit iffy, they have this sticky feeling, like there's no spring.

Other Thoughts: Its a very good screen for the price, I absolutely love it for gaming I highly advise anyone looking for a cheap, large and well performing monitor to get this!

3 out of 5 eggsDecent for the price

Pros: Low price. Sufficient warranty period. Was able to eventually get the picture looking reasonably close to what I wanted. Two millisecond pixel response, depending...

Cons: As most others have stated, OSD menu button layout isn't intuitive and button label visibility is practically nonexistent. If either one of these was rectified, the other wouldn't matter. I'm used to ASUS motherboard manuals often being cryptic, poorly written/translated, missing information, etc. However, I expected much better documentation to accompany a monitor. For example, I am left to assume that the Overdrive function must have something to do with pixel response time, as there is no mention of it either in the manual or on ASUS' web page for this model. I shouldn't have to resort to using a search engine to find out what any features of a simple monitor I've bought brand new mean. What's more, the settings for "Overdrive" are 0-100 in increments of 20, and mean absolutely nothing without some sort of reference.

Other Thoughts: I was in a hurry with this purchase, saw the 600+ 5-egg average review scores, and just bought the thing. I'm not extremely disappointed with it, documentation aside, but I think I'll be going back to Viewsonic next time. Aside from that, I really hope that when it's time to buy another monitor some truly significant improvements have been made with flat panels in the $150-$200 range. It's certainly been a very long time coming. Compared to CRTs, I still see no real advantages other than weight, and quite a few disadvantages.

4 out of 5 eggsThe last of its kind

Pros: 16:10 22", rarity these days
2ms response
No dead pixels
Easy setup/plugins

Cons: Front panel buttons are awful
Spent hours attempting to calibrate, never have I seen a worse factory default.

A good starting point:
Brightness 60
Contrast 65
Sharpness 25
Saturation 50
ASCR OFF
Overdrive 60
Color: User 100 RGB

Other Thoughts: I specifically wanted a 22" 1680x1050 to replace my old Samsung of the same breed. That said, compared to my 6+ year dying Samsung.. Whole family agrees it just doesn't look as good. Everything looks washed out. I'm sure I'll get used to it overtime but still..

Not sure if it is worth the $160 I payed for, but then again if you are looking for a good 16:10 1680x1050 monitor you really don't have much else to pick from. Hope it lasts as long as my last monitor.

3 out of 5 eggsMight consider another

Pros: Works. Colors/Brightness seem decent enough.

Cons: I agree with the "N/A" review on 11/29/2011 6:02:28 PM

I bought this quickly on a limb for an employee/office machine & didn't notice the 1050 max resolution & lack of HDMI.

I'm going to be a little harsh and rate this 3 stars because of these issues. The 1050 seems livable but also lacking HDMI makes it worse.

I'm getting old and grumpy and tired of having to look at every tiny detail of products to ensure that it isn't a rip off in 5 different ways.

Using a DVI to HDMI adapter :(

Other Thoughts: It actually seems to be a pretty good monitor. Just not sure it's worth the $160+ cost.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor

Pros: Its a decent low end monitor.

Cons: An adjustment menu that is somewhat frustrating for quality freaks or anyone using 2 monitors.
