5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: This is a really good looking monitor. It is bright and the colors are vivid. Watching movies is a great experience. My next moniitor will ba an ASUS.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great monitor.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Bright, quality screen. No dead pixels.

Cons: This is mostly nitpicking, but still bothersome enough to cost an egg:
I bought this model for the adjustable stand (over the frequently $40 cheaper unadjustable model) and am a bit disappointed that the height adjustment doesn't go lower. It was purchased for a short user with bifocals, so looking down toward a tilted back screen is ideal, but on a normal height desk/desk chair, this isn't quite possible. Just an extra inch lower and it would be perfect.

Also, the buttons along the bottom front edge have way too much resistance. You have to hold the screen in place when pressing buttons or it will move/rotate. And does anyone actually think the big orange power button looks good?

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good!

Pros: Arrived in good condition with no dead pixels. You can adjust the height, rotate it , and tilt it. It's got a high contrast ratio, excellent for removing glares or lighting up things up! Also the 2ms is a nice.

Cons: Did not come with a hdmi cable (my gpu came with one so yay) and if you're worried, DVI is the same in terms of display quality. Many people complained about the speakers and I don't see why as you should buy a speaker system. Unless you were planning on using the monitor's speakers for surround sound.

Other Thoughts: Bought this for $189.99 without shipping and tax incuded. Newegg should clarify/include the stand + monitor height somewhere because I thought the monitor was 16.5ins but when I got it, that whole setup was 16.5 at the lowest. And since I was trying to fit it in my desk I was relieved that I did not have to raise my top shelf.

2 out of 5 eggsnice monitor went down 10 dollars the day after i bought it

Pros: read the product description.
product arrived promptly

Cons: the famous newegg price drop the day after you make a purchase.im getting pretty tired of this.it really is making me think twice about where im going to purchase parts for my 2 upcoming Christmas builds.i would complain about the buttons but seriously that stuff isnt something that should deter anyone away from an asus monitor, ive been using them for ages and not one has ever failed on me(yet) and i use them very intensively.

Other Thoughts: i would recommend purchasing this product on one of the "other" trusted sites as i see they are selling for $174.99 and i cant foresee them going any lower anytime soon as a single purchase.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat image quality, a bit on the bright side

Pros: - fantastic image quality with a bit of an exception (see cons)
- text is sharp and fairly easy to read
- assuming price doesn't change (got for $200 without shipping and taxes) then this monitor is hard to beat
- typically LCD monitors don't show darks very well. The darks on this monitor look great. In fact, most monitors when showing a total black image/background have light bleed through around the edge and the black looks a bit "bright" (not a true black). I'm seeing very little to none of that; the black looks great.
- games play great with no ghosting or anything
- monitor was easy to assemble. The swivel and height adjustment (particularly the height) are good and provide nothing to complain about.

Cons: - the button adjustments on the monitor (as others have noted) are not fantastic. Then again, it's not like you adjust the monitor every freaking day. Minor issue I'm not going to deduct egg for.
- The image quality on this monitor is very good. However, the monitor is very bright. Good news is that between the monitor and video card controls you can deal with the brightness and I have mine setup to where it looks great. However, along with the brightness there is a tendancy for the whites on a screen to stand out more compared to other colors. It can be a bit annoying. The end result is if you are looking at something with a lot of light colors then everything tends to have a white washed look to it and somethings can be hard to make out. Makes me think of the bloom lighting in some video games a LOT of people complain about. In fact, in Bad Company 2 where the maps have a lot of sand, the land scape that doesn't have hills look almost like a white mess.

Other Thoughts: My eyes are comming from an older 19" regular aspect monitor to this one which is larger and brighter (the older one, even during its time, was to dark). Perhaps my eyes will get used to the brightness and my comments will be a bit out of line. In addition, my vid card is an older 8800 GTX. I had to turn off some ansio filtering in games which leaves the landscape without plants and such up close. When I get a newer vid card (soon!), perhaps I can up ansio some and the whitewash will disappear? Perhaps my setup is creating the problem but I've seen enough where I'm giving this 4 vs 5 eggs.

Ultimately, I wanted a monitor with all three input types and didn't want to spend more than $200. If you want a solid monitor with a great image display where it maybe a bit bright for a good price, then this is hard to beat. If you are willing to spend money though, you may want to go elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggsRather Splendid Indeed

Pros: No dead pixels. Nice packaging. Very large and definitely bright enough. I replaced my old 17" ViewSonic because it appeared to be dimming over time to me. I can clearly see the difference now with this monitor.

Cons: The "ASUS SPLENDID VIDEO INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGY" is just a gimmick to me. I only really like the standard mode. I feel some of the other modes oversaturate some colors and they just don't look right. Also, it may be a little too bright... but I'd rather just have to turn it down than not be bright enough.

Other Thoughts: I always told myself not to buy LCD monitors online. The reason being is if you're stuck with dead pixels, there's much less hassle in returning it to a physical store. I took the risk on this monitor based on the reviews which said no dead pixels and great packaging. The risk paid off, because there was no dead pixels and great packaging.

1 out of 5 eggsCould have been a great deal...

Pros: For the price, this monitor is a great deal.

Cons: Within 2 days I got a dead pixel. Within 5 days I got a blue line of dead pixels across the screen.

Other Thoughts: I don't know if I simply got the rotten apple out of the thousands of monitors produced, but the fact that Asus suddenly released all these monitors at such low prices makes my wonder in they are cutting a little quality for quantity. Not saying all these monitors are poorly constructed. Just saying mine was. Newegg gave me store credit instead of just a Refurb though! That was nice of them.

5 out of 5 eggsGo for it!

Pros: You had better be wearing sunglasses when first firing up this monitor if you've only been using a 19-incher!!! This monitor could be used in any bright office setting without problem. It has very brilliant colors even when in Theater Mode...which is the mode I use all of the time. I did run thrue the Win7 Color Calibrate utility...really don't know if it was necessary tho'. As for game play, with it 2-ms GTG capabilities I can see no smearing while playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

Cons: No bothersome pixels - a real boon!!!

Other Thoughts: As I mentioned above this 23" ASUS is replacing an aging (by today's tech) Dell 198WFP 19" monitor and I feel as I've gone from a Pinto to a Porsche!
