Great but could be better
- Pros: This monitor has all the basic inputs that are expected. HDMI looks great, but no sound, which was expected. The stand is ok, and does not let the monitor wobble around. Games look great.
- Cons: There are some that i must mention. The speakers are very bad, when compared to my 6 year old CA ones and 10 year old logitech ones. There is no HDMI cable included, as most monitors (Acer, Gateway, HP) include them. No Asus monitor comes with an HDMI cable, but should be standard.
- Other Thoughts: I was originally gonna get an HP no-widescreen 19" monitor as i needed two DVI, but because of the price i had to get this one. I am using the DVI input for my new build (Core i7/GTX 275) and VGA for my 6 year old pc (LGA 478 Pentium 4/ AGP ATI Radeon 4650). Both are running Windows 7 Ultimate,
Very Good Monitor For the Price
- Pros: *Very Sharp Text and Visuals
*Amazing Color Quality *Games & Movies look great at 1920x1080P *Input Selector Button
- Cons: *Certain games that have Night scenes are sometimes too dark even at max brightness and contrast (This is still a weak point with all TN/TFT panel LCD's though so I knew that when buying it)
- Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 19" CRT that was finally going out on me after owning it for 7 years. So I was blown away by this purchase as this is my first ever widescreen LCD
I havn't tried the HDMi or Built in Speakers yet so can't comment on that.
Good for the money
- Pros: This monitor has outstanding quality, the HDMI works like a dream and the refresh rate kills my old viewsonic, this was a major problem when playing crysis. The theater mode is cool will dim the monitor when in fullscreen. Built in audio works cant say that about most.
- Cons: Audio sucks, thats to be expected for microscopic speakers, the HDMI audio does not work, ive tried everything it just wont work. The monitor DONT SHUT OFF literally when you have ur comp set to shut off the monitor after a specific time IT WONT DO IT! It will stop showing your computer but it sits there on with a blue screen hovering a ASUS logo all over the place, VERY ANNOYING! The contrast is just stupid it goes so high it makes your monitor into a sun, i dont see the need to look at a monitor shining so bright u dont even know what ur looking at. Brightness is fine at 100. Had a hell of a time trying to get this to boot up using HDMI i kept setting the input mode to HDMI and when i shut off comp or monitor it goes back to VGA/DVI after buying a DVI to HDMI cable the problem was fixed no clue why but it is, quality didnt decrease. Cheap cables, stopped working after the 2nd day (DVI) it would just FREEZE for like 2-3 secs then go back to normal 2-5 times a min...
- Other Thoughts: Con Cont: New cables fixed that.
Other Thoughts: I bought this open box... $89.99... And everything came with it, the box manual cd cables power cable everything which was a big shocker.
This is definately worth the money if you dont mind the problems listed above, i am planning on buying a 2nd one before it disappears from newegg (that happens alot with stuff i buy...)
