1 out of 5 eggsNever again Asus

Pros: Fast Response, Vivid colors, multiple input support.

Cons: Cumbersome menu format, Poor manufacture support,

Other Thoughts: Had this thing exactly 3 years and Asus wants over $150 to bring it back to life. I am a certified tech and know how to repair the monitor but Asus wont sell the part for me to repair it. They would rather me dish out $150 for a monitor that is not even worth $100 or their end game would be for me to just buy a new monitor. Well I will buy a new one, just not from Asus.

3 out of 5 eggsNice monitor while it worked

Pros: Great monitor when it worked.

Cons: This monitor just failed 3 months out of warranty. The power is always on and the power button doesn't do anything. The ASUS logo keeps flashing on the screen for a fraction of a second and then the screen goes blank for several seconds.

Other Thoughts: I have a smaller ASUS monitor that's much older and still working. ASUS is paying for return shipping to get an estimate for repair.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a while.

Pros: Worked great for a year or two.

Cons: After a while it started to turn flicker off and then back on at regular intervals. I ruled out a video card or motherboard issue, even switching ports on my cards didn't fix it. It was only a minor annoyance as it would happen only once every hour or so, but worth taking one egg off.

Just today, which is a few months short of the 4-year ownership mark, the backlight seems to have gone bad. I'm going to see what I can do to repair it, but I'm upset that it's just out of warranty.

I can see a very faint ASUS logo as I start it up, but only every once and a while I'll get a faint flicker of picture with the backlight brighter on one half of the display. Probably the inverter or the backlight itself.

EDIT: Yeah, the flashlight on my phone clearly shows that the display still is displaying a picture, but the backlight is out. Shame :(

Pros: Worked fantastic for about a year and a half to two years.

Cons: After a while it started to turn on and off on regular intervals. I ruled out a video card or motherboard issue, even switching ports on my cards didn't fix it. It was only a minor annoyance as it would happen only once every hour or so, but worth taking one egg off.

Other Thoughts: Wondering if there's anything ASUS can do for me. Thanks either way.

4 out of 5 eggsAside from the stuck pixels it's great!

Pros: Nice menu system, good presets, display is more than acceptable

Cons: Speakers project away from user, stuck pixels have started to pop up, adjusting the base for the first time requires a lot of force

Other Thoughts: I've owned this monitor for close to 2.5 years and haven't had any problems until now!
The display is nice and bright but the presets allow you to dim it quickly. Great for when you have to check your email in the middle of a migraine.

Just today (after 2 years of use mind you) one pixel decided to go rogue and stick bright green.
My roommate uses 2 of these monitors for his day to day computer stuff also had a few patches of stuck pixels develop about a year into his ownership.

Their return policy requires 3 or more pixels so I guess I'll have to get used to the one I have.

For my next monitor I would still consider going with Asus.

1 out of 5 eggsInput Ports Died

Pros: At the time, this monitor seemed like an affordable item, but after 2-1/2 years, all the the HDMI and VGA input ports no longer detect signals.

Cons: Input ports fail to recognize input signals. Based on other reviews of this model, this has happened for other buyers as well. I would recommend choosing a different model or even different brand to avoid have a similar experience.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsHDMI Troubles

Pros: Huge display, excellent quality, no dead pixels

Cons: DVI on this monitor will let me go to the max resolution (1920x1080). However, when I try this resolution on HDMI, there is a black ring of unused pixels around my screen (1" on the sides, 0.5" on the top and bottom). I can't get it to use my entire monitor unless I go down to 1680x1050. This is simply unacceptable for a 1080p monitor. Anyone know what to do here?

Other Thoughts: I tried looking through the monitor menus, but I could not find any sort of auto-adjust. I also restarted my computer multiple times in the hopes that it would auto-adjust...but it has not. This black ring around my screen is getting annoying.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I’m sorry to hear your monitor issues. On your monitor Menu OSD, select Image->Aspect Control and adjust the aspect ratio to “Overscan”.
