1 out of 5 eggsStay away From Asus Monitors!

Pros: Was good when it worked! Awesome refresh rate, was able to play games in 3D with the included Nvidia gaming glasses!

Cons: Stay away from Asus monitors, had crackling popping after long use each time and eventually monitor died out! After going thru trouble and finally getting ahold of some one in asus technical support I was told that I was out of luck since warranty expired. I asked to even pay for what ever charge if they would just fix it or send me a refurbish at least they have no concern for me at all! I'm now stuck with a $499.99 monitor that Is now just sitting there in the closet non functional, STAY AWAY FROM ASUS MONITORS!

Other Thoughts: I spent $499.99 on this to in the end just be stuck with a dead paper weight! Please be advised Asus does not offer any help after the 1 year warranty is up!

4 out of 5 eggs120hz wee

Pros: Nice screen. 120hz is smooth.

Cons: One stuck green pixel, pulsating. Nearly dead center.

Replacement policy did not appear to cover this. Sent it back for a refund, ate the restocking fee.

3D is a gimmick.

Other Thoughts: Stuck pixels eat away at my soul. I understand why they have standards of acceptance when it comes to these, but I honestly don't care. I replaced this with a different 120hz screen that I was able to use before purchasing to confirm no stuck pixels.

It really was a nice monitor otherwise. If you get a good one you will love it, 120hz harkens back to the glorious days of CRTs, playing Quake III at 120 FPS.

5 out of 5 eggsNearly Indestructable

Pros: Easy to adjust, and very vibrant colors, especially compared to my bargain brand monitor I replaced with this. Running at 120hz gives everything on the screen this insane smoothness, but you will need some beefy graphics to run most games that fast. I specifically bought this model because it came with the 3D vision kit, and I have to say i prefer 120hz 2D to 60hz 3D, so I wasted the extra money that cost, but I can't justify taking off an egg for personal preference. The greatest Pro is that I accidentally dropped this monitor down my stairs, where it made hard contact with the carpeted floor and the drywall multiple times, and still works with no problems. (We had to cover up and paint over multiple gouges in the drywall). Having owned this for 9 months it is still working beautifully, not a single dead pixel or any other signs of use besides some white marks for the stair incident.

Cons: Doesn't make me a sandwich when I'm hungry.

3 out of 5 eggsDead pixels, great monitor.

Pros: Great build. Adjustable height. Vivid colors.

Cons: Dead pixel. According to ASUS, any amount of dead pixels under 6 is deemed acceptable.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

I’m sorry about the pixel issue, but could you please indicate the number of dead pixels your monitor currently has? Could you also send me some photos of your monitor with “dead” pixels? Please contact me at and include this ref#1072-4650 in the subject line. I would like to help you out.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic quality

Pros: This monitor has very vibrant colors, quick response time, and quality 3-D (although 3-D on computers is still somewhat of a gimmick). One of the best monitors I've ever owned in terms of overall quality.

Cons: If you don't really want 3D, it's a tad pricey.

5 out of 5 eggsThe leap to 120Hz

Pros: Beautiful screen! It is very sharp and the color contrast is great. 120Hz is absolutely amazing for gaming. The smoothness is everything I wanted. Has a VESA mount. I have not noticed ghosting or bleeding much at all. Has completely eliminated screen tearing at 120Hz.

Cons: 1 stuck pixel. It is hardly noticeable. The pixel is stuck at a certain shade of red that I only notice in World of Warcraft in Orgrimmar, that shade of red. Have not noticed it in any other game or on my desktop. 60Hz on this monitor REALLY sucks, screen tearing all about. I have another Asus monitor, VH242H, and it does 60Hz much better than this one. Some games do not support 120Hz and then I suffer, such as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier. Some games require changing DirectX from 11 to 9 to get 120Hz, kind of sucks. The viewing angle also kind of sucks, but is not an issue for a single user on a well adjusted setup.

Other Thoughts: This is the cheapest good-enough quality 120Hz monitor with a VESA mount I could find. I am happy with my purchase. I have not tried the 3d, I have ATI cards and I haven't even bothered with it. It's amazing for FPS games. I've been playing Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 and it's beautiful. Starcraft 2 looks brilliant as well. Waiting for CS:GO!

I think I will stick with 120Hz from now on no matter what. Doesn't matter if its 1440p or an IPS monitor! 120Hz is that good. Gives me the silky smoothness I've always wanted, I feel like my computer can now show me its true performance. Never knew a monitor would make that big of a difference. Keeping vsync off and having no tearing gives me a performance boost!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: This monitor is beautiful and very bright. I've only had about 10 hours use with it, and my previous monitor was less than spectacular. Some recent games that have came out all look better and better with 3d. Just some. Others is horrible.

Cons: The headphones need to be fully charges before they can be turned on. About 3 hours from what people said. I had mine hooked up a while before I tested. So it wasn't a problem with me. The 3d drivers didn't work for me. Nvidia said the drivers for the 3d weren't installed, but yet when I ran the uninstaller, it had to uninstall my 3d drivers. But newly downloaded drivers fixed my issue. Quick fix

5 out of 5 eggsVERY nice, thus far

Pros: I bought this monitor for its fast refresh rates to play original Unreal Tournament ( released in late 1999 ), as 60hz refresh rate is totally unsatisfactory for that fast-paced FPS. This monitor fit the bill. I set it at 100hz and not only is the refresh back to where it needs to be for original UT, but the image quality is the best I've ever seen for UT and I've been playing, mapping, and modding for UT for over a decade. Other games that I have like Deus Ex:HR, BF2, Supreme Commander, Serious Sam HD 2nd Encounter look great, as well in 2d.

Cons: None for the monitor, itself. The 3d glasses were dead on arrival & wouldn't charge up, but I'm not worried about that as this 3d package is 3d vision 1 and if I want 3d, I'll consider going with 3d Vision 2, which is said to be better and more stable. So I'm not docking an egg, nor trying to get the glasses replaced under warranty.

Other Thoughts: This type of monitor, for me, is the standard for computer gaming. Never again will I purchase a 60hz LCD monitor for my main gaming rig. And the image quality of this 120 hz monitor just blows away my other Asus 60hz LCD monitor that has the same screen size -- in 2d, as I haven't tried 3d, as of yet.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Pleased!!

Pros: Lots of real estate, BRIGHT, crystal clear, superb color.

This screen replaced a 20" Viewsonic VX2035 bought in 2006 (high end gaming lcd at the time) and the difference is astounding.

NO dead pixels, no noticeable bleeding on the edges.

The included 3D glasses are Vision 1, and while they will make you smile the first time you look through them, a pair of Vision 2 glasses make it even better.

In my opinion the 3D is much more enjoyable when viewing a movie rather than gaming. Most games do look "cool" in 3D, but unless the game you're playing has specific 3D setting to make the best of it, it really doesn't bring anything to the table or give you an advantage.

Cons: None that I've found so far.

Other Thoughts: I've been buying, building, and selling with ASUS since 1998, never gotten a bad part. The people that do must be extremely unlucky.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent 3D value

Pros: -The monitor came with no dead pixels, which judging by the reviews, seemed to be a possibility.

-The 2D picture is very, very good, especially in 120hz mode. MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE YOUR THIS SETTING MANUALLY!

-The setup of the entire system was very, very easy using the new 300 series nVidia drivers.

Cons: -The 3D picture is dark, and there is noticeable ghosting in some scenarios. These are negatives inherent to the 3D Vision 1 technology, and they are mitigated somewhat by manually tweaking settings on a game-by-game basis.

-The monitor controls are horrificly counter-intuitive and take far longer to operate than they should. However, one eventually gets the hang of it.

Other Thoughts: This is a very cost-effective option for those wishing to delve into the nVidia 3D Vision experience. While there are some issues inherent to the 3D Vision 1 technology, they do not negate the value advantage over the 3D Vision 2 technology.
