5 out of 5 eggsBuilt Solid

Pros: *Built Solid
*No Dead Pixels (at least on the one I own)
*Tilt & Swivel base is handy
*120Hz display is a far cry from the standard 60Hz
*Native Nvidia 3D support

Cons: *Ghosting may appear with Nvidia 3D vision kit (1st Generation)

Other Thoughts: Originally owned the VG236H for about a month before returning it. A large row of dead pixels formed on the LCD after giving the screen a gentle cleaning with a microfiber cloth. After seeing the review, I saw that it was a common problem and appeared to be an engineering oversight which was fixed with this model. Basically the same, but the pixels on the screen won't die on you if you breathe on it.

5 out of 5 eggsGood company - Great product

Pros: -120Hertz refresh rate
-Extremely clear image compared to matte LCD screen
-Nice options built into monitor menu (no gamma adjust though)
-The stand adjusts easily and will stick where you put it
-The Dual DVI cord is included

Cons: -Not a true negative, but if you're coming from a matte screen to this glossy screen you will sometimes notice reflections in the screen. When the monitor is off/dark it is basically a mirror.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this monitor back in Dec2011 so that I would be able to run games up to 120 FPS rather than the 60 FPS that a majority of LCD monitors cap out at. I would have to say that I am extremely pleased with the performance of it.
The monitor when first plugged in was set to 60Hz in windows, but after setting it to 120Hz and hitting the "apply" button the difference was immediately apparent. Moving the mouse around the screen now has a very smooth feel to it, as do windows when being dragged around the screen.
120 FPS in games, especially FPS games is a whole new experience. The fluidity of turning quickly left and right will make you never want to settle for anything less than a 120Hz monitor again. Buy this.

3 out of 5 eggsMy thoughts on the VG236HE

Pros: Brightness
Very detailed reproduction
Sharp Colors
Great for gaming
Very beautiful screen, no dead pixels on my unit, and no input lag

Cons: Only major fault I see with this monitor they may impact someone's decision is the backlight bleed. It is very noticeable that on the bottom and bottom left of the screen it is much blacker (approx 1/5th the screen) than the rest of the monitor. This is only apparent when the screen is dark (noticeable during gaming load up screens or computer boot up).

Other Thoughts: I'm really torn on whether to RMA the monitor due to the backlight bleed, everything else is perfect. It's only noticeable with dark screens, you dont get an iota of clue that there's a problem there until the monitor goes black. I will most likely keep it but I wanted others to be aware of it so you're not surprised if it happens to you and can decide if another model might be more reliable.

4 out of 5 eggsDead Veritcal Line of Pixels

Pros: I've now owned this a month and the 3d is awesome, its flawless, no ghosting or anything.. The screen is very very bright so don't worry about that being an issue either, I can see the monitor during the day with the blinds open and my 3d classes on (which makes it even darker) and still I have no visual issues.

Cons: After a week I got a dead vertical line of pixels, like the other guy said previously, both Newegg and ASUS require you to pay for shipping, which is very upsetting because these are pretty much the only two company's I do my ordering through because I've had great past experiences with them..

Other Thoughts: I'm still using the monitor about a month into owning it because I'm just to lazy to send in the monitor, especially when I'm going to have to dish out an extra $20-30 ontop of the $400 just to fix an issue on their end... not to mention waiting however long for a new monitor to arrive.. But don't worry Newegg and ASUS, I still love you.

3 out of 5 eggsDead Pixels

Pros: 2nd Review, updated, will update again later

Cons: I own 3 of these, one I've owned for about a year, and haven't had any problems. I decided to buy 2 more to go 3D surround, well, I've only had the two for about 3 weeks, and 1 has a red vertical line, and a white horizontal line in a large cross pattern.

I just want to say that I am very disappointed by this. I take very good care of my stuff. Keep my gaming room clean, and honestly, I work 50-60 hours a week, and these monitors got barely any use out of them. I am lucky if I play 10 hours a week on my PC, and no one else uses my computer.

Other Thoughts: I am currently trying to get an Advanced RMA through ASUS, there site is very confusing though, and having trouble. It's late saturday night, so Hopefully someone will read my emails by monday and help me with this.

I'm only taking two eggs off my original review, these monitors are my first purchase's from Asus, so I am going to just wait and see what happens. I love the monitors, and hopefully Asus support is fast. I will update my review (+ or - eggs) depending on how support is.

I'm going to give ASUS the benefit of the doubt though, as everyone tell's me how good they are, and this is the first monitor I've ever owned that I've ever had a problem with, I realize it could just be a fluke or bad luck. I know these monitors go through a lot during manufacturing and being shipped around, and they can't all be perfect, so maybe it's just a bad batch or something.

5 out of 5 eggs3D Vision Surround = Awesome!!

Pros: I actually owed one for a year now, had no problems with it so far. Bought 2 more from Newegg so I could run in 3D Surround. Works flawlessly!! Awesome!!

Pros: 3D (looks awesome!!), 120hz, great colors, no ghosting, easy menu system, monitors have tilt, twist, height, easy setup. No dead pixels, downloaded free DPT to check, not one dead pixel.Shipping was very fast, only 3 days from ordering. Very happy with this purchase.

Cons: Ok, not really cons, more like preferences

Glossy screen, doesn't really bother me though because I don't see reflections when I am gaming due to the fact that the monitors are bright and my room is dim.

NO 3D over HDMI

NOT 27" (couldn't afford 3 X 27" 3D monitors)

Shipping. They came in the original box's, with a sticker slapped on them. In my opinion they should be boxed in a brown box. I ordered a case from newegg once, and it literally was falling out of the box by the time it arrived. I'm not taking an egg off for this because it's not Asus's fault. I truly feel these monitors deserve 5 eggs. Shipping was fast though, but i've never ordered monitors online before, so it was on my mind for 3 days. Luckily, the box's were in ok shape when they arrived and not damaged.

Other Thoughts: Alright, I read another reviewer who said they didn't work in 3D Surround. I have to say that these work flawlessy in 3D surround, and standard 2D surround. I did have an issue with one monitor becoming blurry above 60hz, but that turned out to be the DVI cable. Switched it and now working perfect. Make sure you use the cable they come with or one that can handle 120hz.

Posted a video on my youtube channel if you want to see them in surround mode.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Display

Pros: Great picture. Games look great at 120 hz, blows my old 60hz Asus display out of the water. Sitting the two side-by-side is like night and day.

Cons: Have not gotten a chance to test the 3d capabilities yet.
