1 out of 5 eggsNot impressed with support

Pros: It's a great monitor, and everything looks great on it. It's extremely thin, and because of that I can store things behind it from where the stand hits the wall and the back of the monitor.

Cons: I have one problem which is when I'm say watching a movie in full screen, and the majority of the picture is black the entire back light will just turn off. It will come back on when the picture isn't quite as dark, but depending on the movie I'm watching I can miss several seconds of video multiple times throughout the movie.

So I called up ASUS support to get the "asus rapid replacement", and was told sorry this monitor is out of stock call again in a few weeks to see if it's in stock. So I call again after a few weeks and get the same thing about the monitor being out of stock, but I was also told this time that they don't make the monitor anymore either. This was quite a surprise to me as I just bought the monitor on 12/10/2011, and as far as I could tell there weren't any better monitors being made by ASUS being sold on newegg at the time. (Continued in other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: So I then asked to talk with the supervisor and told him my story, and asked if I could just get the new model and even said I'm willing to pay the difference in prices if any (I think the current model with the same specs is $5 more on newegg). He kept going on saying sorry I don't think that will be able to do anything, and I'll just have to send it in RMA. (But the main reason why I bought this monitor was for the rapid replacement, because I use this monitor for work I can't be without it for a few days much less a few weeks.) So the supervisor finally says to me he'll see what he can do and call me back in a few hours, needless to say I never received a call. Even after I confirmed my number with him twice before hanging up.

4 out of 5 eggsok

Pros: Cheap 24" screen
Looks great

Cons: The buttons that switch between HDMI and VGA inputs are kinda clunky. Took me a good 30 mins and a phone call to get it to work right you have to hold your finger over the button for like a full 5 secs to click it.

Other Thoughts: Wish it had more responsive buttons.

5 out of 5 eggsClassy, Non-Traditional Display

Pros: This monitor violates a lot of the traditional design characteristics of LCD displays:
● TN-Panel; very low latency, much faster than IPS or PVA. Relatively good viewing angles, good color reproduction.
● Unique dual-mode stand: works with or without the lower ring.
● Stand is easily detached, making the display much more portable.
● Panel is light-weight and very thin, easy to transport.
● Tilt-adjustment is tension-based, not spring-loaded, position will not shift during use.
● Plenty bright, easily adjusted.
● HDMI input offers 2-channel audio pass-through, ideal for headphone or desktop-speaker use.
● OSD is controlled by capacitive buttons, which won't wear out.
● Matte screen ♥
● two-tone finish: rear of the housing is white; matches the look of some products better than others. (I like it.)
● Inexpensive!

Cons: ● No height adjustment (ring stand is simple, height isn't the point)
● No VESA mount (would eliminate the ring stand; not the point of this model)
● Only 2 inputs (DVI, D-sub/VGA); no DisplayPort.
● Capacitive buttons can be triggered unintentionally by metallic objects (mouse cable)
● Glossy-black housing collects fingerprints
● TN-Panel: Cannot match the colors of PVA or IPS panel tech. (Available in a PVA version!)

Other Thoughts: I also own one of the previous ML-series monitors from ASUS, with the original ring-stand design. This newer version is better in every way, other than the added weight of the stand. I primarily use it for LAN parties, because it can be disassembled so quickly, rings pack flat into your LAN bag (unlike traditional stands), and transports so easily. I haven't weighed it, but I can say it is the lightest and thinnest 24" monitor I've seen.

I love it.

5 out of 5 eggsEggselect Gamming Monitor

Pros: Zero Ghosting on BF3 (its all i play). I do play at max rez 1920x1080 (with GTX 590). Colors are very bright/crisp and true. Like the review below mentions, whites are white and blacks are..well.. a dark dark grey in gaming mode and black in theater mode. Gaming mode is nice because dark dark rooms are 'just!' bright enough to see in without complications. Zero dead pixels and complications thus far. It has very relaxed movement capabilities for fine adjustments. Wiggling the table does not shake the monitor like it might with lesser screens. Very stable and easy on the eyes.

Cons: Switching between DVI and VGA does take 2-3 seconds. Not a big deal but I'm use to faster switches with other models. And really.. how often do you switch? Just when working on the neighbors desktop because they obtained a virus 'somehow!'

Other Thoughts: The larger bar at the bottom didnt make much sense until i realized how thin the screen was. It is no thicker than a standard laptop screen. As a direct result the controls, power input etc, need somewhere to go. The bottom bar looks perfectly fine once you remove the sticker(s). The height of the screen is standard, the black bottom bar just fills the gap between the bottom of your screen and the tabletop. So the physical screen is a common height therefore lines up nice when placing two separate models side by side.
The power brick is small and can fit behind the monitor without complication's. I have mine leaning in behind the monitor in the stand.
The screen has two setup modes. 1) standard setup with monitor stand. 2) Picture Mode, which you remove the stand and let the screen sit directly on your desktop. I kept the standard setup for now.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Eyes!!

Pros: VERY bright, yet it doesn't hurt your eyes. You can pick up a lot of details on this thing that you can't on other HD monitors. I just switched over from a 24" Acer monitor due to some issues I was having with it and I have to say, this one is much nicer. Very slim, which makes it much easier to set up (that and the ports are pointing back, not down). The touch interface is pretty nice as well. Nice sleek design.

Cons: None as of yet.

Other Thoughts: If you're using an ATI card, you'll have to set the scaling to 0% in the CCC. Otherwise the screen doesn't fill entirely. This is also a small issue on some games like Just Cause 2, where they reset the scaling to some higher value. If this is the case, set the game to windowed and use the highest resolution.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus ML248H 24-inch Monitor

Pros: Beautiful display. The contrast gives bright whites and deep blacks after some adjustment. This is not an out of the box monitor as you'll have to make changes to correct the presets for a proper image.
60Hz refresh rate in 1920 x 1080 I can't see any ghosting, lingering patterns, flicker using the HDMI-DVI cable ( supplied).
There were no dead or stuck pixels with my unit which I am thankful for considering there's over a million of them.
Manufacturer warranty as I read it is 100% for 3 years from purchase, with shipping prepaid if using the original box.. Excellent plan, be sure to register the product, and write down the information you supply them.

Cons: LEDs for the back-lighting are located on the left had side of the monitor. There is an uneven wash of gama on the left side near the bezel. Settings can only mask this as it is a flaw in the junction (space) between the light diffuser and the illumination LEDs.
If i was so inclined I could correct this by taking the monitor apart and masking the light bleed with some dark tape. But lets just leave it as it is.. since it's hardly noticeable.

Other Thoughts: My unit was missing a mounting screw for the base ring to the monitor. The design of the mounting screws shows that it was never inserted after the hole was tapped, it's impossible for the original screw to "fall out" due to the design the manufacturer used.
Thankfully I keep a varied assortment of screws nuts bolts etc and found a proper replacement for the missing piece and was able to make use of the monitor immediately.
It was too much of a headache to find who I was suppose to call to ask for a screw from. ( and I did try)
The monitor uses a 19 Volt 2 amp DC External transformer. This is good because it reduces the weight, thickness, and heat of the actual panel. I know from experience that these light-weight transformers will fail from electrical fatigue caused by things such as surges, so use some protection for it. . or plan to dish out 15 $ for a new one when it does die ( from what I can tell the power supply is not covered under the warranty, so I expect it to fail )

5 out of 5 eggsNice monitor

Pros: Very nice design with slim profile and a neat base setup. Matte screen is very nice if you're not into looking at yourself in the monitor. Very bright if you turn it up, viewing angle is more than adequate. Haven't used the built in speakers as I don't have the cable but I'm sure I'm not missing anything.

Cons: hmmm....none so far

Other Thoughts: Very satisfied with this one, inexpensive/great design/works well!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Good size for your money, thin, easy to set up, dvi=>hdmi cable included. Great warranty. My roommate got one as well with 2 deal pixels and one stuck, his replacement was fine and shipped somewhat fast.

Cons: Stock settings need to be tweaked upon purchase.
Viewing angle from below is weak but how often are you actually under your monitor?

Other Thoughts: Have not noticed any color change or saturation change in top or bottom as others have said. Would love to have a DVI because I feel it is more secure and less likely to wiggle or break in the future. If your a professional photographer or into video editing you might wanna get a "professional" monitor.
