1 out of 5 eggsBroke after a year

Pros: refresh rate is consistent with advertised.

Cons: When i first bought the product there appeared to be some weird lines that would flicker but they went away so quickly i didn't realize what they were. As time went on, the flickering got worse and worse, and the lines started flickering with different colors. I don't leave my computer on, and my monitors are not on for extended periods of time. Kind of annoyed that this product broke after only a year of use considering the price. When i attempted an rma i couldn't even submit one because of a 'query error' that i kept getting when i tried to resubmit the rma. can't afford to buy a new monitor so looks like i will have to deal with dying pixels and a dying monitor.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken after a year.

Pros: While Working everything was alright, the color customization was decent, the speakers were a bit low but adequate and the refresh rate is you get what you pay for.

Cons: After a little over a year, the screen started to show flickering lines of different colors across it. I noticed them when i first bought it but thought i was imagining them because they would flicker away very quickly. As i owned it for longer the lines got more and more prominent and when i attempted an rma though asus i just kept getting error messages and 'query failed' from the site. I'll try calling but i don't know how much help i am going to get with this issue. quite frustrating that the pixels appear to be going after minimal usage and taking good care of the product.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes what a monitor should and does it well

Pros: The monitor is aesthetically pleasing, both physically and the visuals it produces. The colors and brightness are fine and require no adjustment, although you can if you want to. I have experienced no ghosting or any other funky effects of that sort. The monitor responds fast and is an overall great monitor. The angle can be adjusted up and down easily and the viewing angle is also really good. The construction is solid and sturdy. There are two draw backs however, one of them prompting me to remove one egg.

Cons: Con number one, which to me isn't a big deal at all, is the menu interface. It is not very user friendly or pretty. However like I said this isn't much of a drawback to me because the only time I used the menu is when turning up the volume for the first time. That brings me to the second con, which does bother me quite a bit at times. The speakers: with the monitor, master, and application volumes all the way up, are pretty quiet. The sound quality isn't bad at all, it's just that they are quiet and can be hard to hear. However if you have headphones it shouldn't be a problem.

Other Thoughts: It is rather small. I got this for my very first build assuming 24 inches would be bigger than it really is, but that's my fault. I am still satisfied with this monitor and it's great.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate

Pros: Almost 4 years of owning this monitor and still running strong. I play alot of FPS games and have never had any issues. I would definitely buy this again and may buy one to replace my HP 19" secong monitor

Cons: Removing the base can be a pain if mounting on a wall. I actually posted a how to on one of the forums years ago with pictures, I don't know if it is still there.

Other Thoughts: Most of the tech I bought at the same time is obsolete and I am actually surprised this monitor is still being made.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Support

Pros: Monitors were good while they worked, nice picture good quality.

Cons: Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. After owning the monitors for a couple years they inevitably started to fail just before the warranty period was up. I had bought two of these and only one failed at first. I sent it in for repair explaining the problem in detail, (the monitor would not come out of standby and flickered on and off repeatedly while power light flashed).

I returned my monitor for repair in all the original packaging, bags, foam, box etc. with the monitor in perfect condition. When the monitor was returned to me it came in a different generic box with some basic bubble wrap. The entire monitor itself looked like someone had ran sand paper across it not just the face of the monitor but the base as well as if someone went out of their way to damage it.

I had to resend the monitor in for repairs, when it came back they had fixed everything but the base. I was going to overlook the base damage but after one day's use the monitor refused to come out of sleep... They had never repaired the original issue to begin with, to top it off my second monitor also stopped working with the same symptoms.

At this point I have no working monitors, one never sent in for repair, and another sent in twice not repaired and still in worse condition than what I had sent it in after two attempts for them to fix it. I called ASUS support again (long distance I might add) explained the issue. The representative went to talk to someone else and put me on hold for a while, after which they came back and told me they were going to replace the monitor with a new one. I then made sure she understood I had two monitors that needed to be replaced and I didn't want to end up with different monitors I had bought them as a pair so they would match. She said she understood and that they would both be replaced with new monitors. I was told I'd receive and email with their stock and that I could pick from what was available to make sure they both matched.

A few days went by and then I finally received an email including 5 pages per monitor requiring multiple signatures each, however no list of monitors to pick from was included. After reading over the paperwork I noticed a few discrepancies from what I had been told. I would be receiving refurbished or remanufactured monitors, not new. Also I would have to provide them with a credit card which they would place a hold for the MSRP of the monitors, a 10 dollar service fee per monitor, and shipping and handling charges. None of this had been mentioned at all.

I called again explained the issue. I was told there was a mistake and they wouldn't be new monitors, before this conversation could go anywhere they hung up on me. At this point I was quite irritated I got escalated to a supervisor who's only solution was to "wave" the shipping fees they were going to charge me. I then asked for someone who could do more and was given a web link to a form for further support.

Other Thoughts: I thought after contacting someone higher I would have had my problems resolved. I've been without working monitors for 3 months now. The original response I received after giving a lengthy detailed description of my problem was a one paragraph email which basically said "Sorry we only provide recertified devices, and we need to put a hold on your credit card".

Needless to say I was pretty upset about the lack of concern for the issues and general disregard for my time given. I tried emailing them again to only receive another response in broken English telling me they are the manufacturer and they don't offer compensation, refunds, upgrades or retail box replacements. Which I'd be fine with if this wasn't what their service representative had promised me, this was never something I asked for.

The level of support I've received has been horrid and one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a tech company. I think ASUS makes great products and I've always bought their motherboards, video cards, and other parts because of the quality reputation. However this has been my first support experience and it has been bad enough on it's own that I will probably not ever purchase from this company again in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I do apologize for the recent experience you have encountered with our service support. It is true, that our warranty policy only provides warranty replacements from our buffer warranty. They are all in like new condition. The only difference is that they do not come in a new retail box. Our Rapid Replacement RMA's only qualify for certain models, and products. And an authorization hold is required to ensure that we receive your defective unit back, once you receive the replacement. If you would like to discuss this further I would be more than happy to assist you with all your ASUS needs.

Please feel free to email me at cl-jolene@asus.com. Please be sure to include this reference case number N141085738, in the subject line of your email as well.
Thank you for being a loyal ASUS customer!
