4 out of 5 eggsNot bad for how inexpensive

Pros: Good monitor for around 150$ mark - I picked it up around 120$

Nice big display, high resolution.

Cons: Not great for contact wearers for extended periods of time. The text is just blurry enough to make your eyes dry up and strain a little pretty quickly. This is my personal experience, compared to my IPS 500+ 24" monitor I use at home, you can tell this is an inexpensive panel.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor!

Pros: Fast response time, Great color depth, solid monitor. Sound quality is actually decent when I run HDMI from my PS3 through it.

Cons: Differs dramatically from VS238 series side by side. They seem so similar in series code however, but visually in terms of color display, they are not. (Yes I am running it from the same graphics card, not the onboard graphics)

Other Thoughts: Bought this for a gaming solution for my PS3 so I could have my rig and PS3 running through my desk. I made a good choice.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow up

Pros: It survived past the new egg warranty
Vibrant colors
Great I/o
Great quality for an older monitor

It does not get warm

Cons: Squeaky when it gets moved around
The built in speakers are ok but I use dedicated speakers now
If you aren't used to bright monitors then this isn't for you

Other Thoughts: It comes well packaged so no need to worry about that.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: As a Gamer, I thoroughly enjoy this monitor. It looks great and runs wonderful. I have not had any issues thus far

Cons: As most others said the Speakers are not that great but not enough to down it an egg. The stand is fine, Sturdy for me and I have a ton of pets, cats and dogs.

4 out of 5 eggsA great gaming monitor with some drawbacks

Pros: Very bright
Decently even backlight coverage
Very little corner bloom or bleed
Very vivid color rendition in games, decent in movies, decent black levels once properly adjusted (default brightness is way too bright in my opinion)
Decently steady and secure stand, but no adjustment options other than minor tilt.

Cons: Pixel overdrive effect causes a "shimmering" checkerboard pattern on pixels with moving contrasting lines. IE. the borders of windows when moving them up/down or left/right against a darker background will "shimmer" a checkerboard pattern.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to love these, but the issues while on the desktop caused by the pixel overdrive (ASUS refers to this as Trace Free) were just too bothersome. I did attempt to adjust the "Trace Free" value and even with a setting of zero still noticed the effect. I noticed no issues in games, however.

These are targeted at gamers and for playing games, are very decent, but I would avoid if you're doing mixed work. I'm docking one egg due to the shimmering with pixel overdrive as other monitors with overdrive technology do not exhibit the same problem. I ended up returning all three (one for 8-10 dead pixels and the other two for the shimmering issue) and going with another model.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfect so far.

Pros: Great picture. Sturdy monitor and stand (though mine is mounted most of the time). Built in speakers make it great for taking your PC elsewhere and not having to bring speakers with.

Cons: Big orange button.

5 out of 5 eggsWowzers...

Pros: - It works. Always. Unhindered.
- Speakers
- Recognized in Windows 8.1 Pro

Cons: Not a one.

Other Thoughts: This replaced a 990x1400 from many, many years ago. Let me tell you what, this thing has some gorgeous colors. Not only do I run Crysis, BF4 (campaign levels are SWEET and SHARP), Titanfall and LoL at high FPS through my hardware, but I get to view it all in 1080p with vibrant colors, sharp detail and no ghosting. This monitor shines. I feel that 1080p is all you need, but others would disagree. I am not hard to please, but 4K will not be in my future anytime soon, 1080p is where it's at for me. I absolutely love this monitor in terms of its output.

On another note, the speakers are great. I don't see why people are hating on them. Yes, turn these little, low-wattage puppies up, they are going to distort, they aren't designed for high-power + high-volume. They are designed to be needed within different frequencies. Don't anticipate stellar BF4 sounds at max output, you only want to use max output when the need arises, and trust me, you probably will not ever need to if you are gaming. Anywho, as for gaming, I find these exceptional in terms of monitor setups I have used in the past. You will not get 5.1 sound from these, but you knew that already. However, you will get great sound with great quality 70 and lower. I have a Logitech G510 keyboard and use the scroll wheel to adjust sound constantly as the need to turn up/down arises, and once the kids go to bed, I can hit 70 easily when not wearing my headphones. I only use my headphones while playing online, as the campaign doesn't require all the fancy footstep monitoring. I have gone to 85 on campaign with excellent output, but there are times where grenades/choppers are distorted a tad, but even then not much. These speakers will not give you any problems in terms of simple use. If you are an audiophile and you need beast speakers, you already stopped reading and moved on, so chances are these speakers will work for you. I have no issues with them; Youtube,, games and movies sound great on these speakers. I honestly can't complain. There are even times where the mids hit just right and I am asking myself, "What, this is a low-watt speaker setup pushing this?" No, they are not phenomenal on a high-output level, not even great, but in terms of my use, and my gaming needs, they work and then some. No regrets, this monitor has impressed me across the board!

5 out of 5 eggstakes a beating.

Pros: No pixel problems, great color

Cons: Wish it can dim more than it does. every once in a while when I go to turn it off I push the input button instead of the power, I wish these two buttons had more space between them.

4 out of 5 eggsK

Pros: looks good

Cons: input lag

Other Thoughts: I thought i would be going a step up with this, but no. I came from a box tv to this and i NOTICED the input lag. My box tv seemed to be fine with very little input lag, so when i came to this i thought it should be just as good or even better in comparison to input lag and the quality of the picture. 1. Way better picture than my box tv, 2. has a lot of input lag. I dont know if mine is broken or something but i know that this has more than a "2ms response time" I have played about 8 hours on it to make sure its not because i need to get use to it. For a human to notice a difference in input lag it has to be pretty big. (because humans cant be very precise just using their eyes as a timer)

overall, good picture and what not, its all fine except it has ruined my gun skill in games like call of duty...
