1 out of 5 eggsREBATE DECLINED

Pros: Great monitor, but when I sent in the documentation, they scanned it in incorrectly and stated my documents were blurry and ineligible for the rebate. I printed out the invoice on a laser printer. Horrible service on behalf of ASUS

Cons: Rebate does not work

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Color

Pros: Great color options that can be adjusted for any program you are using whether it be watching a movie, editing photos, or gaming.

Cons: The only thing I wish could be changed, but not a big deal, is while gaming, there are more red overtones than normal, but nothing too noticeable.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for 1080p gaming!

Pros: Great picture, color and refresh rate. I own 3 connected to a Nvidia Geforce GTX 660Ti card and works well for tri screen gaming.

Cons: No display port. Quick fix is hdmi to display port cable.

Other Thoughts: This isn't as much a con as advice. If you are planning a multi monitor setup get all the monitors the same time if possible. I bought my first one 2 years ago and the other 2 last week. The original is faded due to heavy use while the 2 new ones are brighter due to being brand spanking new. Not a con as monitors age they get dimmer a quick fix for me was to turn the 2 new ones down in brightness to match the older Asus of the same model. Still 5 out of 5 for me!

4 out of 5 eggs2012 to 2015 and still going

Pros: -Decent price
-Great for casual and professional use
-Good for PC gaming (not a lot of advanced features, though.)
-Noticeably higher contrast than I was used to upon purchase.
-DVI, HDMI, and RGB inputs.
-Headphone/speaker port.
-Plenty of settings to mess with to get it just right for you.
-Does exactly what's advertised.
-So many memories (personal plus)

Cons: (No "cons," really, just nitpicks)

-ASUS logo on the front is not printed into the frame and started to disintegrate immediately upon removal from box.
-Settings menu is a bit of annoying to navigate.
-No built-in speakers of any description.
-Seems to have developed an argument with YouTube, as videos that do not stream in 60 FPS have a very present screen-tear along a top third of the screen. That said, some 30 FPS videos don't have it, so I don't know. May have something to do with Flash.

(Gaming-related gripes):
-Basically forces use of 1080p and above, as 720p doesn't scale at all, causing a stretched picture and black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. Increasing the resolution to anything but variants of 1920 x 1080 also seems to cause the same problem. I was able to run 720p properly in one case, where I had to option to select a 59hz refresh rate in the graphics menu. This may be a problem with my setup, but be prepared, just in case.

Other Thoughts: Due to its lack of features beyond that of display options, this can be seen by some as a "first-time PC gamer" or "casual" monitor, as it really only just sticks its toes in the PC gaming pool. And it is, and it does. Anyone and everyone can get a LOT of use out of this monitor and it doesn't play favorites. Its multitude of brightness, contrast, and pre-set options are good for people who only need it for one thing, and very suitable for people who need it for multiple things. I've put many, many, many hundreds of hours into using mine for internet, work, and both PC and console gaming, and all have worked near-flawlessly.

It seems to get along with 2715 x 1527 and 3840 x 2160 (4k?), though this may be because these resolutions were recommended to me by Nvidia. Both worked fabulously with MGS 5: The Phantom Pain, though running this monitor at 4k will result in some text being near-impossibly tiny and blurred-out, as to be expected. (Bear in mind, this was also run through my Nvidia GPU's DSR capabilities, so a GPU without dynamic resolution capabilities may not produce the same result.)

Having multiple inputs as it does, it's fairly simple to get a console hooked up to it and it's simple enough to switch the input over. You may notice some additional shades of black and grey you hadn't seen before, depending on the display you were using prior to this monitor.

It seems to have an odd reaction to having to display a PS3 system. Upon starting up a game or selecting a Blu-ray movie to watch, the screen will go into standby mode for around 3-5 seconds before turning back on to display the game or movie. Same goes when quitting out to the XMB. This only occurs once when you enter or quit an application, so it's not going to ruin a game, movie or otherwise.

A great buy for everyone. A jack of all trades. The machine that simply works. It's not going to win awards for innovation, design, or any of that, but, should all be in your favor, this monitor will turn on, turn off, display practically anything you throw at it, argue a little bit, and then accept its job and simply do what it's asked. It simply works. There's a certain beauty in something which works as intended.
... There's also the question as to why we'd even have to say if something works as advertised or not, but that's a ethics question and not fit for a NewEgg review.

My second monitor is going out on me, so this one (being my primary) will probably be put off to the side in favor of a more gaming-focused monitor to replace it. I'll have this monitor as long as it will have me, and I'm sure many, many great gaming experiences are still left in its circuits.

5 out of 5 eggsLove Asus

Pros: I have bought so many products from Newegg and other manufacturers but None of them have a 24/7 number you can call for help with your new product. Most leave you on your own.

Cons: As far as all the talk about the back light going bad, I just believe when the time comes Asus will be there for me.

2 out of 5 eggsIt lasted just a bit over 3 years

Pros: I really liked this monitor for the first 3 years I had it.
The picture quality for gaming or watching movies was great.

Cons: After 3 years were up, the backlighting started getting weak.
In the lower left hand corner it darkened, followed later by dimming in the lower right side..

Other Thoughts: If anyone knows if there is a repair for the blacklight LEDs, please post a comment.

4 out of 5 eggsWonderful till just past warranty

Pros: Clear picture
Even color
Easily visible while out of direct sunlight
very bright, able to use at night with no issues

Cons: Still suffers from from washout if it has sun hitting, or any other high lumens light source hitting it an an angle.
No standardized pitch of monitor on stand, makes multiple monitors feel canted.
Shiny finish is attractive, but shows *any* dust it gets on it.
Gets a large hemispheric dark spot at bottom of screen 6 months out of warrenty :P

Other Thoughts: Honestly great product, most of my cons are things that are minor, though monitors all being at different angles was quite frustrating, ended up putting things under the base to balance it. This will really only show up when you are using multiple monitors.

I'm hoping that the dark spot does not grow too quickly, but that is just me being selfish as I can't afford a new one right now. :P

Bottom Line: Fantastic product, Asus obviously put in work on getting this monitor to be a standout in it's category.

If using multiple monitors, I would strongly urge keeping a reasonable separation between them and/or being willing to fiddle with getting them even, as it *is* irritating.

Wish I had commented on this earlier so other people would know and/or adjust as needed as the problem existed out of box.

2 out of 5 eggsDecent i guess

Pros: Good color

No input lag

Cons: Shakes easily, stand is unstable. Im a heavy typer so this thing rocks like crazy

HUGE HUGE HUGE screen tear in the middle of my screen. Very annoying as i watch lots of movies on my computer. I have to watch movies on my other second monitor, which sucks and is only 18 inches.

Other Thoughts: Look for something else. IMO

4 out of 5 eggsOverpriced for the issues

Pros: VESA Compliant
Beautiful Picture
Multi Input (VGA/HDMI/DVI)
Aesthetic bezel and Button location

Cons: Overpriced
Bezel is too thick for the price

Stuck and Dead Pixels

Other Thoughts: Ordered 4 of these monitors, one went to a friend, I kept the other three. 5 days in he's got a dead pixel, and 1 day in I have a stuck one. Unacceptable for monitors in this price range/feature category; this is the first time I have ever had a stuck pixel and it happened to be on on of the more expensive monitors I've ever bought.

It was such a headache getting my hands on these monitors through sales, rebates, etc. that after only having them installed for one day and finding a stuck pixel I'm too tired to even want to RMA or Warranty it (if I could with one stuck pixel).

I'd have to send one of the monitors back, while using the two others, on a temporarily lopsided monitor mount.

It seems our options are cheapie AOC/ACER monitors or 300+ BENQ/SAMSUNG/SONY monitors.. With ASUS sitting in between and with the reliability of past ASUS products I purchased this felt like a no-brainer.

Half the monitors I ordered have screen problems, and I feel trapped in these models because no one else makes something with this many features that's also reasonable in price.

Take a chance or pay more for something sure.. These monitors were a bittersweet purchase.
