ASUS VS229H-P Black 21.5" 5ms (GTG) HDMI IPS-Panel LED-Backlit Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 ASCR 50000000:1

Pros: Great monitor. Arrived at my door in perfect condition. Only $140. Stand is fine. Light bleed? Eh, not really unless you're looking at a black screen and the brightness is turned up. Do yourself a favor and buy this monitor.

Cons: n/a

Pros: This monitor has great resolution and great color as well. For the price it really can't be beat. All my games look great on it. I also really liked how it had VGA, DVI, and HDMI to choose from.

Cons: The stand is kind of flimsy, but other than that none.

Other Thoughts: I bought this monitor to replace an older Dell model. Dell monitors tend to more expensive, but also tend to be worth it. However, I was blown away with the quality I got from this monitor for the price. If you are looking for a budget monitor for gaming, this is the one.

Pros: I bought 3 of these for a home office/Eyefinity set up. Zero dead pixels, and I've been pleasantly surprised at the panel quality for how cheap these are. 3 year warranty with free cross shipping is icing on the cake. There are several other cheap IPS monitors on the market now but many of them don't have VESA mounts so they are non-starters for me. Google easymountlcd for some awesome and affordable multi-monitor mounts.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Wish I had bought 3 of these sooner. Gaming is awesome on these in Eyefinity mode (running a pair of 7870s currently).

Other Thoughts: The 19 dead pixels sucks but that's a part of the business, if any company could produce 100% quality and still make a nice profit they would. The rapid replacement made me felt nice and secure and was my deciding factor in purchasing this monitor, unfortunately I'll have to use it, other then that it is a quality monitor for a good price.

Pros: no dead pixels, perfect size for me, after a little tweaking got the picture to look like i wanted, response time is good.

Cons: none so far.

Pros: Looks great at full resolution. Considerably brighter than my TN panel, and dark video scenes look great compared to my TN. Decent price for an IPS. I like it!

Cons: I couldn't figure out how to turn it on, I thought it had fancy touch screen style buttons since I could not see the physical buttons on the underside.

The microphone jack gives the impression that it has speakers when it does not, it is the audio out for the HDMI.

Cons: Text is HORRIBLE on anything: browser, email, and programs (Excel, Word)
Display looks "squished" vertically, even though I'm running at the exact same resolution & color depth as I'd been running on the previous Samsung monitor.

Other Thoughts: I got this monitor because a couple of the fluorescent back light tubes in my old 22" Samsung died or were flickering. In a rush, and on the spur of the moment, I bought the ASUS monitor, due to the good luck I've had with my P6T mother board and Nexus 7 tablet. Big mistake! While ASUS may do an outstanding job with those items (motherboards and tablets), this monitor is horrible for anyone who has to do any kind of 'productivity' work (that is, text based) on it. Games look okay, for what that's worth.

If you say the “Display looks ‘squished’ vertically,” please go to the OSD menu and try adjusting the Focus which consists of Phase and Clock (see pg. 3-3 of user guide). Has a lot of options to change the color and saturation settings to your liking.

Cons: Stand is a little flimsy
Bezel is glossy and kind of annoying, matte would be better, no finger prints, no reflections.

Other Thoughts: The bezel is little thicker than I would like but its not that bad.

Pros: Easy to set up, Right size, Right price

Cons: The video just looked washed out, I was expecting a lot better

Pros: As an entry IPS, the quality for the price is amazing. Rich color, deep black, and very good contrast.

Cons: Matte coating is slightly noticeable (specially on white-ish colors). Rather flimsy stand. BUT, none of them really matter to me or a deal-breaker (I don't do graphic works with it), hence the 5-egg rating.

Other Thoughts: Factory presets might need adjustment to taste, but can be done easily. I do lots of reading on my computer, watch Anime, and play strategy games; so far, haven't notice any ghosting and pixel speed seems to be very good. This was one of my concerns as IPS monitors tend to be rather slow and have usually high GTG (larger than 8ms). For this monitor GTG of 5ms was the main deal for me. I am very satisfied with my purchase.
