1 out of 5 eggsmonitor partially purple/pink

Pros: Good picture while it lasted...

Cons: ...which was just over 6 months.

Other Thoughts: I was using my computer and the right 1/4 column of the screen turned a purplish pink tint suddenly, like a pop - flicked on. I thought it was the game I was playing having graphics issues but I closed it and went to the desktop, still there. I rebooted the computer, same purple/pink tint on the right hand side top to bottom. My desktop background is a picture of a jungle waterfall and all the green plants on the right looked brown. First thing I did after the restart was reset all connections to/from the tower and monitor. Did not fix it. Then I hooked up a friend's old HP w1858 monitor and there is no purple/pink tint anywhere so it is not the video card or cable.

I have pictures of the ASUS and HP colors if anyone from ASUS sees this. My Hanns G was replaced because of some warm orange/purple tints that eventually progressed into flickering and other problems. This looks similar to the early stages of that same problem. When I first got this ASUS I had problems with the power staying on because of the cable connection. Finally got that where it wasn't a problem by using the cable from my old Hanns G. The one that came with the ASUS did not slot well. If I pressed any harder it would have popped something out of place inside the monitor. Cable ports do not seem well designed, almost have to press hard on the front of the screen. But got around that by pressing cables in with the face on a hard flat surface to brace it on the bezel.

Purchased 12/31/13 from Newegg. Tried to submit a case on ASUS.com and I keep getting a message saying servers are busy every time no matter what.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Screen!

Pros: Great quality, good for angle viewing. Good price.

Cons: Looking back, I would have maybe gone about a size up to a 23' monitor, but it is still a good size and a great screen.

4 out of 5 eggsimage burn/persistence

Pros: 1080p
looks nice overall

Cons: Getting an image burn/image persistence sometimes
A little dim unless at 100% brightness

Other Thoughts: Sometimes I get an image burn/image persistence really quick. What I mean is that after 5-10 minutes on a site or with a window open (not full screen) I will slightly see the border of it still after switching pages or closing the program. Might be since I have the brightness to 100%? Not sure
Only happens sometimes though so minus only 1 egg

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: This a rehashed version of my previous HORRENDOUS review of this monitor. I said I cant comment on the speakers, but there aren't any speakers. I also said that two lines had appeared on the right side, but that seems to have been resolved, probably a noob problem of mine, loose connector. Overall a great monitor for the price, I don't know why some people said it didn't have good color, my colors are nice and vibrant, and dark where it should be.

Cons: None. Relatively pricey but I can live with that

Other Thoughts: Sorry for my past Review!

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful

Pros: Great looking screen vibrant colors after tweaking the default settings a bit.

Cons: This could be a con or pro depending on how you use this monitor but for me having the connection ports come directly out of the back means that I can't put it as close to the wall behind my desk as I would like, but it does make getting the cables unhooked a lot easier than models that have the cords connect from the bottom.

Other Thoughts: Wish I could have afforded 2!

5 out of 5 eggsVery good monitor

Pros: The picture and colors are all very good. You may want to play with some of the settings to get the best experience. I also like that your able to create your own color temperature. So far it has been great for gaming and school work. It is a lot more customizable than my old dell monitor.

Cons: none so far

5 out of 5 eggsupdate on anonymous of 4/28/14

Pros: nice color

Cons: update on the problem mentioned on 4/28/14. The HDMI input responds well to an HDMI signal. There is sound via the earplug jack. the problem found has been identified as a problem with the HDMI output from the desktop recentlly purchased.

3 out of 5 eggsBought 2. Contrast is way higher on one

Pros: great color on both

Cons: I own 2 of them and the contrast is much higher on one than it is on the other. No amount of tweaking could fix the difference between the 2. If I'd just gotten 1, I probably wouldn't have noticed but side by side it's definitely noticeable. Also, the adaptive contrast mode (ACSR I believe is it's name) doesn't work on the one with the noticeably higher contrast.

1 out of 5 eggsASUS VS229h-p

Pros: nice color graphics

Cons: no Audio-in jack which makes the remainder of the audio options useless (earphone jack & speakers) unless you are using an HDMI input. I've tried it with my recently purchased ASUS M11AD which does not have additional graphics card so my only video options are VGA or HDMI. This monitor does not recognize the HDMI signal. I've contacted ASUS and upgraded the drivers and still no HDMI signal improvement.

Other Thoughts: disappointing
