4 out of 5 eggsGreat Overall

Pros: 3D is amazing and playing games at 120hz is so smooth, not to mention how nice it is being able to turn VSync off and get virtually no tearing.

Cons: The only con with this monitor is a contrast issue. If you have the contrast up very high at all things look washed out and even worse, with dark images, especially when gaming or watching videos, you can see gray light illuminating from the sides of the monitor; this is incredibly annoying. You basically have to sacrifice having a good contrast setting so that these issues are less of a problem.

Other Thoughts: I was using an IPS monitor before this with fluorescent back lighting, so it is possible that the contrast issue is more of a thing with LED back lighting.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter Than Expected

Pros: Crystal clear 3D image. Absolutely perfect solution for a 3D monitor with a built-in emitter. High-resolution in 3D or 2D mode. Lightboost technology makes everything brighter in 2D mode. The glasses are very comfortable even when I am wearing them over my glasses. The price it is being sold for here is totally worth every penny.

Cons: Could be tricky to use at first when trying out different resolutions. It should be packaged with PowerDVD 13 software as it is the best software out there for playing blu-rays and blu-ray 3D's. The software it comes with cannot play blu-rays.

The hotkeys to turn the 3D on and off or adjusting the 3D depth doesn't seem to work; although, maybe I just haven't figured it out yet...

Other Thoughts: I do not usually write reviews but I feel obligated to write for this product. The moment I turned this monitor on, I was amazed by the bright crystal clear picture in 2D mode. My previous monitor was a Samsung 22" 1080p HD TV/Monitor with HDMI and I thought that was a super upgrade from my regular LCD display. It could just be because it is a bigger screen but the lightboost technology definitely has a play in it.

The main feature of this monitor is of course the 3D capability which took me a while to play around with the settings and updates. After finally getting the correct resolution settings, I immediately load in my blu-ray 3D movies to test the 3D function using PowerDVD 13 which I believe should have came with this monitor. The 3D images were better than what I was use to watching movies in the theaters. The depth can be adjusted to the user's comfort. With PowerDVD 13, the movie or clip you play doesn't have to be a blu-ray 3D to have the 3D effects. Any given video file, dvd and blu-ray even pictures can instantly be given the 3D effect.

Overall, I am never more pleased with a product than this one. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking to buy a new monitor with 3D capabilities. Also get PowerDVD 13 if you do buy this monitor.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Monitor

Pros: Great Monitor. 120Hz, Adds a new dimension to 3D Gaming. 27 inch.

Cons: A dead pixel showed up on the screen after 6 month of use. Color felt washed, not as vibrant as my old LED monitor.

Other Thoughts: Working great so far. 3D is superb.

5 out of 5 eggsA+ Run Out And Buy It !!!

Pros: The 120hz refresh rate is so incredibly night and day compared to 60hz. Games like Battlefield 3 are completely different with such an incredible advantage.
Comes with the Nvidia 3D Vision 2 Kit.
3D is not merely a gimmick. Give Tomb Raider a run in 3D on this monitor and you'll never view it the same way again.
For a more detailed explanation of the layout and what makes this one of Asus' best monitors yet, see the review I did on my SirJamesDTech YouTube Channel entitled Asus 27" 3D 120hz VG278H Monitor Review.

Cons: This monitor came stock with a definite blue tint. My color calibration settings are in my review.
The power and DVI hookups are recessed in at the back of the monitor, so install those before placing the monitor on your desk. As they're a pain to get to otherwise.

Other Thoughts: The imbedded IR Emitter looks very sleek in its design, installed into the top of the monitor. Functionality is perfect, as well.
This isn't a con of this monitor, but I sure wish 1440p@120hz native was getting to be a reality. At 27" 1080p is right at the edge of looking really good/average.
Overall, this monitor literally opened my eyes to 120hz and 3D. And I'll never go back to a monitor without either one again.

5 out of 5 eggsLight boost 2D gaming, movies like CRT

Pros: Ton of pros already listed. Had this almost a year and now fond if Light Boost is activated in 2D gaming, movies, it gives CRT quality imaging.

Only with Nvidia 2 Light Boost.

Cons: Have to reset each time you either unplug the monitor or reinstall drivers.

Other Thoughts: ASUS is all gamer displays with great ms response time for 120 Hz fluid motion.

You can Google this and find out for yourself. This monitor is more than meets the eye and value has become even greater with this break through.

5 out of 5 eggsMUST HAVE for GAMERS!

Pros: I've been through a lot of monitors, but I've never owned a 120Hz monitor. If you're a gamer, this is a MUST HAVE. I just recently replaced a 4-year old 25" LCD that was also a 2ms, but only operated at 60Hz. Last week, I went and purchased an IPS display that was 5ms, but it was also ONLY a 60Hz. I have to say that this monitor, HANDS down, beats the IPS and any monitor I've used for gaming. There is NO ghosting whatsoever in games. I tested it out with COD MW3, Saints Row: The Third, and many other fast-paced games and ended up playing for 3 hours, because I was so amazed at not only the color, but the fast, fluid motion you get from that fast 120Hz. It really is mind blowing how quick everything moves. Also, when not gaming, you'll notice that just moving around different screens in Windows looks and 'feels' completely different; as you move boxes or screens/windows, it feels extremely fast and you can see boxes move quick-like, how older high-tech CRT monitors used to look like (that were higher than 60Hz). I found myself honestly going through every setting to take full advantage of what this monitor has to offer. Some of my favorite things about this monitor are the presets for the different color settings; game mode, theater mode, standard, night view mode, and sRGB. I've left mine on "game mode" for 24/7 use, only because the color really 'pops' with it and doesn't look over-exaggerated. It's absolutely perfect.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: You must use the (supplied) DVI cable from your GPU to the monitor in order to use the monitor at 120Hz and at 1080p resolution. Once you plug in the monitor with the DVI cable, go to your graphics cards resolution settings, and switch it to 1080p/120Hz. When I first set this up, I used the HDMI cable mistakenly, and my resolution settings did not want to recognize the 120Hz. I read the manual and sure enough, you must use the DVI cable. Whoops..honest mistake. Sure, it's a lot of money, but it's so worth it. I've owned probably about 5 LCD monitors over the past 10 years, or so, but I've used and tried a countless variety of them. I can't even describe the full extent of how great DVD and Blu-ray movies and movies look on this monitor; even videos online look fantastic. It totally brings a whole new experience to everything you use this monitor for!

4 out of 5 eggsGreat monitor

Pros: Huge bright screen running in 120h! Easy to set up and 3d glasses included.

Cons: The control buttons are very difficult to use on the monitor, especially navigating the 3d menu. As they say here in Wisconsin, it's a bit pricy at $600 bones.

Other Thoughts: All and all, I'm glad that I bought it!

5 out of 5 eggsI love this monitor

Pros: - Awesome size
- 3D adds a level of immersion into gaming that I didn't expect (better than most 3D movies)
-Rich color and contrast make for a great picture
- 120 MHz refresh rate is more than enough to provide a smooth ghostless work environment
- built in speakers
- Built in IR emitter for the 3D features (saves desk clutter)

Cons: - It doesn't provide the autosensing video input selection that my cheaper work monitors support
- It's a bit costly as a basic monitor, but if you compare the cost to a similar 3D capable monitor without the built in and add the necessary Nvidea equipment you'll see that it's not as bad in the long run
- Can't turn on/off the 3D effect via a button like I could on the NVidea IR emitter, and can't adjust field depth via scroll wheel like the emitter
- Speaker volume requires more button pushes to adjust than just an up or down key. It could be simpler to control.
- Speakers are mediocre (what do you expect from speakers built into the monitor though).

Other Thoughts: The cons list looks larger, but in the end the monitor is awesome. If you're looking for a gaming monitor on an Nvidea rig, look no further. Just buy it!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome!

Pros: Great size, awesome 3d.

Cons: Was a little tricky to setup but finally got it working. Be sure to remove display drivers, reboot then install new 3d vision drivers. Once i did that i still couldnt get the emitter to turn on but read of a trick to get it working. Unplug the power cable to the monitor with the DVI cable still plugged into the pc, wait 15-20seconds..plug back in and return to 3d setup. Worked for me!

Other Thoughts: If you have the spare cash go for it, you wont be disappointed!
