5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Very nice crisp colors. 3D is perfect, no dead pixels no white lines that I see people talking about. Rite out of the box on my desk and watching/ playing perfect 3D within 5 minutes after receiving it.

Keep in mind alot of games don't support 3D but the 1 click 3D button does a great job making them look 3D. Games that do support it are amazing, Batman , Portal 2, Black Ops, Dead Island Riptide, Borderlands 2 are like a new experience. Turned it on 3D while playing Defiance and wow I was very impressed.

Cons: Can't sleep with it , won't cook me bacon.

Other Thoughts: If your on a low budget like I am then this is perfect for you. I have a Nvidia geforce GTX 650 1gb and it has all the software I needed for everything 3D. Not sure if AMD cards will have to buy software or not so look into that before you decide.

4 out of 5 eggsAnother good Asus Monitor

Pros: - Great color (just like other Asus Models)
- No dead pixels
- Very bright and vibrant
- Quality
- Okay 3D

Cons: - Doesn;t perform as well as i thought it would in 3D, never the les it delivers.

- getting perfect 3D angles can be an issue and setting up 3D can be a pain at times pending on what you are watching or playing, therefore the the 3D egg needs to come off, but it definitely delivers. If you you can work your monitor and in game/ and movie specified settings you will be okay, but the explanation is not dumb-ed down and will take time to get used too.

Other Thoughts: none

4 out of 5 eggsFirst Review Before Calibration!

Pros: Great IPS screen = better colors and viewing angle out of the box! :) Pretty loud speakers, if you use them... :P Lot's of modes for calibration -- and like a previous poster added, get rid of ghosting by turning down tracing to 0! :) The 2D conversion is the usual, and most of the posters obviously didn't how to view the screen in 3D, or know what hardware and software is needed -- at what settings! Otherwise, great IPS monitor, with little to no ghosting with the right settings in 2D, and good passive 3D display when viewed correctly, under appropriate settings! :) Second HDMI appreciated for games and PC! :) Best <$200 IPS/gaming/3D monitor for the price...! :)

Cons: The Monitor is meant to be viewed 2-3 ft. away, and I have not found the interlaced lines noticeable during 2D use, let only 3D -- but I haven't been looking. You are supposed to have a vertical viewing angle of 1/4 of the screen below the top of the screen for normal use. The Buttons are difficult to navigate, and are clunky! :( However, once someone calibrates the thing, that won't be that necessary with a good graphics card...or just good software that is set to the correct settings! :)

Other Thoughts: If any of the posters who have calibrated their displays could post them, or link to a site where it has been done by a professional, please do so! :) It would help A LOT! :P Even a forum, perhaps...as not everyone can afford a calibration for an IPS monitor...even a suggested software would be fine! :P

3 out of 5 eggsGood 3d TV

Pros: Its a Great HD 3d "TV"

Cons: Stuck green Pixel just showed up already
Running UDPixel for a few hours now, its not as bright but still very very annoying

Other Thoughts: I don't know if all d3 monitors are like this but i can see the lines making "HD" (1080) look even lower res.. which in my opinion is low enough.. [coming form a over 10 year old CRT with almost 2x the resolution]

But that is no fault of the monitor its our fault for allowing manufactures to tell us that what is high definition for a television is acceptable as high res for PC monitor..

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the pixel issue. Although ASUS flat panel displays meet the ISO 13406-2 ISO standard, if, within 3 years of warranty (for brand-new units), you spot 3 or more bright dots or 5 or more dark dots, please contact us and we’ll offer you rapid replacement for this monitor. For stuck pixels, please try this tool: http://flexcode.org/lcd.html and allow it to run overnight under high contrast and brightness settings. If you’d like to discuss this topic, please contact me at cl-celeste@asus.com and use this ref#1072-10607 in the subject line.

Sincerely,
Celeste

2 out of 5 eggs3D?WHERE?WHO?

Pros: This is my 3rd ASUS monitor.my first 3d.great screen,in 2d.
Asus also make the best motherboards i ever came across.i build computers.i worked with all brands.but let me tell you,i have an old computer with windows 98,i've literately seen pieces falling off of that asus motherboard, diodes and such, and the darn thing still starts and works....

Cons: Like others,i kept delaying setting up the 3d feature for later...and later..but hey, when and how the heck is it gonna work,no game(Battlefield 3,Batman: Arkham City,L.A. Noire) nor bluray_using TotalMedia Theatre 6_(LIFE OF PI 3D,RESIDENT EVIL RETRIBUTION 3D,MEN IN BLACK 3 3D) would work in 3d(using LITE-ON IHBS112-04),while,using the same (playerTotalMedia Theatre 6) i got my 3d panasonic tv hooked up to the same video card,GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) version 311.06,3d works flawlessly.nvidia control panel 3d keeps failing.my system is a 7 ultimate,12 gigs of memory,i7 960,and EVGA 131-GT-E767-TR for motherboard.

Other Thoughts: With this price i should have gotten a monitor with a Display Port, and forgot about 3d on the computer.i have the ASUS MS236H and it still works great.and the ASUS VH236H which broke after my kid threw a plastic toy towards it it hit the middle of the screen and shattered the pixels on the inside(i'm still hoping it will work again someday,on it's own, lol). and this one here, which is just as good in quality, but where is the 3d?!.
oh..and t he 2d to 3d option,makes a difference,you'll see things double!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Sam,

If you require assistance in setting up the 3D monitor, please email me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include ref#1072-10548 in the subject line. 1 out of 5 eggsDead on arrival!

Pros: It's well-packed.

Cons: Unit powers on, blue LED illuminates, but no panel backlight and no image displayed! Tried DVI and both HDMI connectors, multiple cables. All of the hardware buttons are stiff and the ones on the left cannot even be depressed. No latent image can be seen when I shine a bright light source on the panel. The image processing unit seems to work because the monitor's model and resolution is identified by my Asus Windows motherboard, and also my MacBook. The monitor light switches to amber when I unplug the display cable. Seems something is wrong with the assembly or the panel.

No user manual in the box, only a quick start guide. User manual on Asus website has no troubleshooting for this scenario. I tried calling the Asus support number that Newegg lists in my order history (502-995-0883) and got a 'number disconnected' message.

Newegg will test this unit and then hopefully RMA me a new one, but what a poor unboxing experience. I'm starting to wonder about Asus' build quality.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear neveroddoreven,

I’m so sorry to hear that your experience with this monitor is not a very good one. 5 out of 5 eggs3d Monitor [Really 3d? Really the WOW?]

Pros: Price was awesome! $200 for a monitor. I know you can get a monitor cheaper but not a 3d monitor. Ok, how many people really know about 3d and how it can get expensive. One thing is the videocard, new ATI card support it. And you have Nvidia's 3d cards. We all know it can get expensive but this monitor supports Nvidia's True Vision. But you don't have to go there. You can just plug in your computer|notebook and play great games in 3d. It takes the screen and make's it into 3d. It does both real 3d and non3d. It's amazing. All I got to say is AWESOME! I did my homework. The monitor is an excellent monitor. Picture is amazing!! The ASCR is 80,000,000:1 means you get nice dark black. Not dark grey. Colors are bright. I'm not going to lie.... I have been saving and waiting for the right time to buy one. Was worried that 3d might die down, but I am so happy I got this monitor, the price was good and the 3d just makes it so sweat!

Cons: I tried to get TriDef to work with this monitor but will continue to play with it later. Speakers aren't great, prefer using my surround sound. Some minor mirror image in games. But Solid...Really recommend this monitor to all my friends!

Other Thoughts: TriDef... If anybody knows about 3d, you can go Nvidia's 3d, or TriDef. I purchased the software a while back and you can use the software to make your games into 3d. It' does take a tole on your system. Most games you can tweak it and get good FPS. With this monitor you do not have to use TriDef.

2 out of 5 eggs2D Great 3d not so good

Pros: 2d is good. Adjustable stand. Came with glasses.

Cons: 3d is not very good. I bought this just for the 3d and that it came with glasses. 3d does work but top 1/3 of screen 3d does not work right the corners are bad too. I have to stand up to get the top half and the corners to somewhat come in or move the monitor. Kind of defeats the reason to have 3d. In 3d you lose at lot of resolution. Sometimes it looks like a looking thru a screen door. 3d kinda reminds me of old crt with real low pixel count. It looks very grainy. it also reminds me at looking a 3d/hologram picture were you move it back and forth to see the picture move.

I would not recomand if you have a nice 3d tv and you expect it to look the somewhat the same. If you have never had 3d be fore it may be just fine for you.

No hdmi cable included.

Sound crackles from the internall speakers when toching any of the buttons on the front panel. There is no sound hooked up at all no cables no nothing.

Do not want to send back going to cost to much to send back and than try to find a nother lcd and than pay for shipping on that. Already paid for shipping once. May contact Asus for full refund plus shipping.

I have seen some needs to be calibrated but I have no issues in 2d and there is nothing to calibrate on the 3d

Other Thoughts: I bought this just for the 3d. I got this all setup and tested it out and I was very dissapointed when I tried the 3d.
I have always bought Asus motherboards and only Asus motherboards nothing else so I thought I would try a lcd from them. Well not happy so far. To much money for 2d lcd. 3d is waste of time.

I run Asus 990 fx mother board, amd 6 core, two 9600 gt in sli mode with Hdmi out (even put a a nother new hdmi cable on to make sure), 8 gig ram

Manufacturer Response:

Dear JiNx,

What kind of graphics card are you using? Which version? Please review and make sure you meet the 3D Vision Requirements: http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-system-requirements.html.

2 out of 5 eggsBig Mistake

Pros: Nice in 2d mode only given 2 since the 2d looks great and you get glasses with it and its adjusable.

Cons: I bought this for the 3d and the 3d mode is the worst I have ever seen. I am VERY Disappointed it Looks very grainy like the pixels on an old crt when in 3d. It looks three times worse in 3d. Do not get me wrong th 3d does work.I can see depth of the 3d but it just does not loook very good. The 3d does not line up on the corners even worse on top 1/3 of the monitor. I have to stand up for the top and coners of the monitor to line up in 3d. kinda renimds me at looking at the 3d/hologram picture that changes when you move it back and forth to see the picture move.

The speakers crackle when I touch the front buttons to adjust the anything. If i move the monitor it seems to stop for a little bit.

Now I will need to pay return shipping and be out more money. Then I still need to find a nother monitor.

I do not know if I even want to try a nother one. I Did a lot of research and thoght this would be good deal. Most peeps say the 3d looks great. Some have the same problem im seeing in the 3d.

Other Thoughts: I have always bought Asus motherbaords and that is all I buy for mother boards so I thought I would try a monitor from them. Not impressed AT ALL. I run Asus saberthooth 990fx, two nivida 9500 gt in sli mode, Hdmi input to monitor, six core amd, 8 gig ram.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear JiNx,

What kind of graphics card are you using? Which version? Could you also provide me your computer’s specs? 2 out of 5 eggsKind of a waste of money

Pros: Large, nice colors

Cons: Cheap knock-off of contemporary 3D techniques, low-quality display against white backgrounds; can actually see faint lines

Other Thoughts: I was looking for a second monitor against my ASUS VG236, though honestly I wasn't thinking much when I placed the order. I saw the model, which was really similar to my 120hz, true 3D model, and didn't think much of it. Huge mistake. This model is 60hz and uses a shader effect for its 3D. And also, when what it's trying to display is too bright, you can see faint grid lines in the background. Waste of time, waste of money.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Please provide me the video card (model and type) and the OS version you’re using for this monitor. I may be able to help you with proper calibration for this monitor. You may reach out to me at cl-celeste@asus.com and include ref#1072-8623 in the subject line.
