Concept to Creation. Precision to the Finest Detail.

A new killer equipment for digital content creation and entertainment, the ASUS PB Series PB278Q LED monitor incorporates exciting performance and features demanded by professionals and designers. A colossal 27" screen size means more viewing real estate, 2560 x 1440 WQHD packs four times the pixels of 720p, so you can see more content on the screen and accomplish tasks with less mouse roll. The LED display affords 178° wide viewing angles for better productivity. ASUS exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, QuickFit Virtual Scale, and 100% sRGB fidelity ensure reality-defining color and image accuracy, complete with rich stereo sound from twin 3W speakers. An ergonomic design allows easy adjustment of tilt, swivel, pivot, and height, enabling you to enjoy the visual brilliance in extreme comforts.

  • newegg True-to-life Visuals The PB278Q features a 16:9 aspect ratio and a LED-backlit 27” WQHD display that provides 109 pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in high quality 2560 x 1440 visuals – equaling four times the resolution of standard 720p sets. It allows users to view greater image detail and do more with an onscreen footprint larger than that of standard displays. The screen’s 109PPI density means there are 109 RGB matrices within one inch. Generally, the more pixels a display has, the more lighting (or power) those pixels require to achieve the best visuals. However, with advanced LED backlighting on the PB278Q, power and energy savings are no longer compromised, while better visuals are assured.
  • newegg Made for Work and Play The ASUS PB278Q provides an ultra-wide 178° viewing angle on both horizontal and vertical planes, thereby minimizing onscreen color shift even when viewed from extreme angles. With its WQHD display, you enjoy 77% more desktop space than a full HD screen to spread out your windows and palettes. It is also about 25% sharper than a generic 27” full HD display, delivering ultra-smooth visuals thanks to 5ms (GTG) response time. This ensures you get lag-free experiences in movies and gaming, with the latter looking more vivid, with all in-game details shown in true color. The ASUS PB278Q is undoubtedly your best choice for work and play.
  • newegg QuickFit Virtual Scale for true what you see is what you get ASUS includes its exclusive QuickFit Virtual Scale feature with the PB278Q, allowing you to preview photos and documents on-screen in their actual size prior to printing. It can be activated via a monitor hotkey, and serves as a highly useful guide to accurately view and edit photos in their native size.
  • newegg Splendid Video Intelligence Technology Driven by a precision color engine that automatically analyzes and determines the nature of your current task, Splendid Video Intelligence Technology adjusts display parameters accordingly to ensure color accuracy and image fidelity. Six preset modes (scenery, theater, sRGB, standard, and two user-customizable modes) can be quickly selected via a designated hotkey.
  • newegg Extensive Connectivity The PB278Q features a host of connectivity options that include HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, and dual-link DVI for native WQHD, plus D-sub for full HD 1080p content transmission. Twin built-in 3W speakers provide quality audio for a completely immersive home theater experience.
  • newegg Designed with You in Mind The PB278Q offers a highly ergonomic and smart design that comes with tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments to ensure an always-comfortable viewing and usage experience. Its smart cable management further promotes clutter-free spaces for work and enjoyment.

4 out of 5 eggsA little slow to start but nice to look at

Pros: Stuff on the screen looks great. I'm not watching a lot of videos but I do have to deal with a lot of small text and images so quality matters.

Cons: When waking the monitor, it takes several seconds to come on. It's a minor annoyance but still quite noticeable compared to my previous monitor (Apple cinema display) so one egg off for that.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus PB278Q

Pros: Very nice display. I upgraded from a 23" 1080p tn pannel and wow the difference. no dead pixels.

Cons: there was a spec of dust behind the screen that I originally thought was a dead pixel until I tapped on the screen and it moved. 20 minutes later I managed to tap it off screen behind the bezel.

back light bleed is kinda bad . not noticeable in normal use or gaming.

display seemss very bright on white screens even with brightness at 25, any lower than that and everything is dim

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Display, Lacking Quality Control

Pros: Overall the display is nice and sharp with great color production that gets even better with more calibration. The included stand us nice and robust and feels solid even when moving the panel. The included cable management on the stand is a must have a d really adds to the clean look of the display. Also there were no dead pixels.

Cons: My main gripe with this monitor is the large amount of backlight bleed. I'm not sure how Asus can let this come off the line, though it is not noticeable during normal use and games, it becomes very distracting during movies and other tasks where the screen is mostly black. Given that this is a premium product I expected more from Asus. Also there is very little clearance for the rear I/o ports. Large connectors such as displayport and dvi seem to put stress on the port

5 out of 5 eggsI am in love with this display

Pros: 2560x1440px is a must for professional photography & design work. Having the extra space on the screen makes all the difference.

Another perk is the reasonably flexible stand that allows 90 degree rotation and great articulation.

I have paired this up with a Samsung 19" display for the time being until I can buy a second PB278Q for my dual display setup.

Cons: Not much of a gripe, but the built in speakers are where I would expect them (tin can quality). I typically play music as background noise while I work, so they do just fine for that. Allows me to clear my desk of otherwise free-standing speakers.

Pre-calibrated colors are very stark white. I used my own Xrite calibrator to get a more natural, albeit warm, color. This also allows me to match up to my smaller secondary monitor & photo printer.

Other Thoughts: I would definitely recommend this monitor to anybody looking for an affordable, larger professional art monitor. If you are looking for a 27" display, spring for the added cost of this 2560x1440 display over a standard 1920x1080 HD display. You wont regret the investment.

5 out of 5 eggsDidn't expect this

Pros: Great product!

-Huge and clear
-Easy to put together
-Plenty of ports
-Build quality
-The swivel and the spin disk at the bottom are AMAZING!!
-Doesn't really show dust (well for a black monitor)
-Cable management clips

It's a very good project

Cons: It's not made of pure gold?

Other Thoughts: I haven't used the built in speakers so I can't judge those

2 out of 5 eggsamazing monitor if you get a good one

Pros: color, resolution, picture, it's a really awesome screen

Stand was the best stand I've had on a monitor to date.

Cons: no picture-in-picture which I would have liked to see. Seems like a software issue that should be standard on a 27" monitor in my opinion.

Other Thoughts: I loved this monitor, unfortunately it had a scratch on the screen. Considering it was Refurb that means Asus failed twice on this monitor alone. Very disappointing.

Newegg allowed an RMA to replace, but after shipping it back to them via standard (slow) shipping, they finally said they were just going to refund my money. Very disappointing, I could have had 2 more monitors sent to me in that time period. They tried to work with me, but I'm pretty disappointed overall with Asus and Newegg this time around.

2 stars because the monitor itself could probably easily make 4 stars. But the overall experience was very disappointing.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Scorey

I do understand the issue that you are having right now and my sincere apology for any inconvenience it has caused you. It's unfortunate if you think the "Product" is a huge disappointment. On the contrary, there are lots of very satisfied customers that are having positive experience using the
product. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, the issue with the product is an isolated case. ASUS provides
warranty for the product in order to fix or repair any isolated factory escape defect. I would like to personally assist you on this matter. Kindly email back at customerloyalty@asus.com and place case # N150335289 in the subject line for your reference.

5 out of 5 eggsQuality & Perfection

Pros: Monitor came with no dead pixels, everything worked out of the box, on Ubuntu Linux 14.4, with perfect pixel scaling. No issues with the QHD main feature. No bleeding either. Nothing but super for the money.

Cons: None that I can find, after much looking.

Other Thoughts: The HighRes monitors are here at a fair price. No more 1920, go for 2560 dpi.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Wonderful colors and resolution coming from an 8 year old 22"
Extremely bright
Speakers

Cons: 1 dead pixel
Dead pixels are awful but with the resolution being higher and it being a dark grey color it isn't noticeable enough to deal with RMA

Other Thoughts: Amazing monitor
would buy again

1 out of 5 eggsAsus support warranty scam

Pros: Nice monitor
great viewing angles
great colors

Cons: Broke within a month.
Black spots on lcd screen.
Asus support is a total fraud!!
They don't care about you.

Other Thoughts: The warranty support is a total joke!!
I filed a ticket with asus 18 days ago. So far they haven't got back to me on the status of the RMA. They keep telling me that they are checking the stock on the monitor. Which was 18 days ago. I email them and they get back to me with the same response every time, "we are checking the stock availability on a replacement" Last time they told me that they will escalate the RMA and get back to me within 24-48 hours. That was a week ago......
I already filed a complain with BBB(better business bureau) Getting ready to make a lawsuit with my local courthouse.

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsVivid Monitor but already have a dead & bright pixel

Pros: This monitor is very versatile and has a beautiful display along with a nice GUI that gives you some fun options between watching movies, playing games and working with color sensitive items.

Cons: Unfortunately, I got my first dead pixel after only having the item for about 2 months. It appears to have a stuck pixel as well, so I'm not really happy about that at all. The pixel policy on the website is a bit convoluted to navigate, but my understanding is I need more than dead pixels OR 3 bright pixels to RMA. =\

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Crash,

I do apologize for the troubles this new monitor has brought to you this far. A dead pixel can certainly be an eye sore to anyone. You are correct, ASUS dead pixel policy is 3 or more dead pixels need to be present before it can be considered for a RMA. However, your model has a zero bright dot policy. Which means that you do qualify to dead pixel RMA. If you would like more information about ASUS's RMA process feel free to email me at cl-jolene@asus.com with case number N150288822.

Thank you for choosing ASUS.
Best regards,
Jolene
