Concept to Creation. Precision to the Finest Detail.

A new killer equipment for digital content creation and entertainment, the ASUS PB Series PB278Q LED monitor incorporates exciting performance and features demanded by professionals and designers. A colossal 27" screen size means more viewing real estate, 2560 x 1440 WQHD packs four times the pixels of 720p, so you can see more content on the screen and accomplish tasks with less mouse roll. The LED display affords 178° wide viewing angles for better productivity. ASUS exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, QuickFit Virtual Scale, and 100% sRGB fidelity ensure reality-defining color and image accuracy, complete with rich stereo sound from twin 3W speakers. An ergonomic design allows easy adjustment of tilt, swivel, pivot, and height, enabling you to enjoy the visual brilliance in extreme comforts.

  • newegg True-to-life Visuals The PB278Q features a 16:9 aspect ratio and a LED-backlit 27” WQHD display that provides 109 pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in high quality 2560 x 1440 visuals – equaling four times the resolution of standard 720p sets. It allows users to view greater image detail and do more with an onscreen footprint larger than that of standard displays. The screen’s 109PPI density means there are 109 RGB matrices within one inch. Generally, the more pixels a display has, the more lighting (or power) those pixels require to achieve the best visuals. However, with advanced LED backlighting on the PB278Q, power and energy savings are no longer compromised, while better visuals are assured.
  • newegg Made for Work and Play The ASUS PB278Q provides an ultra-wide 178° viewing angle on both horizontal and vertical planes, thereby minimizing onscreen color shift even when viewed from extreme angles. With its WQHD display, you enjoy 77% more desktop space than a full HD screen to spread out your windows and palettes. It is also about 25% sharper than a generic 27” full HD display, delivering ultra-smooth visuals thanks to 5ms (GTG) response time. This ensures you get lag-free experiences in movies and gaming, with the latter looking more vivid, with all in-game details shown in true color. The ASUS PB278Q is undoubtedly your best choice for work and play.
  • newegg QuickFit Virtual Scale for true what you see is what you get ASUS includes its exclusive QuickFit Virtual Scale feature with the PB278Q, allowing you to preview photos and documents on-screen in their actual size prior to printing. It can be activated via a monitor hotkey, and serves as a highly useful guide to accurately view and edit photos in their native size.
  • newegg Splendid Video Intelligence Technology Driven by a precision color engine that automatically analyzes and determines the nature of your current task, Splendid Video Intelligence Technology adjusts display parameters accordingly to ensure color accuracy and image fidelity. Six preset modes (scenery, theater, sRGB, standard, and two user-customizable modes) can be quickly selected via a designated hotkey.
  • newegg Extensive Connectivity The PB278Q features a host of connectivity options that include HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, and dual-link DVI for native WQHD, plus D-sub for full HD 1080p content transmission. Twin built-in 3W speakers provide quality audio for a completely immersive home theater experience.
  • newegg Designed with You in Mind The PB278Q offers a highly ergonomic and smart design that comes with tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments to ensure an always-comfortable viewing and usage experience. Its smart cable management further promotes clutter-free spaces for work and enjoyment.

1 out of 5 eggsDead Pixels ahoy!

Pros: Great quality monitor, 1440p

Cons: I ordered two of these monitors to get a dual screen setup going, the first one was perfect in every way. The second one had a small group of dead pixels in the upper left corner of the screen. I noticed these within 20 minutes of setting it everything up and now I can't stop seeing them, flashing RGB colors didn't help; it's dead, not stuck.

Other Thoughts: My only option is to do an RMA and be without a second monitor for another week or more and have to foot the shipping costs for ASUS's mistake. I already paid $450+ for this and should not have to deal with such a long turnaround or have to spend another dime on your screw up. VERY dissatisfied. Will likely stop ordering ASUS monitors in the future if this doesn't get resolved fast and more in my favor.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for your purchase of two ASUS LCD displays. I do apologize for the unfortunate cause of events with one of your ASUS PB278Q monitor's. Receiving a new monitor with a cluster of dead pixels is definitely disheartening. I am happy to read that you are in the process of a RMA to get this problem resolved. Who did you do a RMA through? Did you go through your re seller Newegg, or the manufactures warranty with ASUS? If you went through ASUS, I would be more than happy to be your RMA representative and be with you every step of the way. If you chose Newegg, that is ok too. If you would like to discuss this matter further feel free to email me at cl-jolene@asus.com. Please be sure to also include this unique reference number N150193336 in the subject line of your email as well.

Thank you for being a loyal ASUS customer!

Best regards,
Jolene

3 out of 5 eggsGood upgrade

Pros: It is quite the upgrade from my 1600x900 20 inch VS207T-P. Runs adequately on 3570K with hd7970. average 40fps with most games on max graphics at 1440.
Was surprised to see some gaming modes included without being advertised.
I have 4 crosshairs to choose from and an on screen timer.

Cons: Minor black light bleed at various vertical viewing angles.
Worked great for the first month and then I started to get red artifacts randomly. Pixels would flicker red, typically on dark areas. Only happens when using DVI-D. Goes away temporarily when monitor is reset. HDMI works without artifacts but I have it connected to my DVR and would prefer to keep it that way. Have not tried the DisplayPort as my GPU has only mini display ports with the HDMI and DVI-D.

After a month, Asus support has yet to prove helpful.

Other Thoughts: Resetting the monitor each time artifacts form is a pain and I hope it won't damage the monitor.
I wish I had a new DualLink DVI-D cable to test and see if the cable is the problem but I'd hate to purchase one, have it not be the case and have wasted money.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Oneder,

Thank you for your purchase of the ASUS PB278Q LCD monitor. I do apologize if the ASUS service support has been less than resourceful to you. I would be more than happy to help assist you with all your ASUS needs. Feel free to email me anytime at cl-jolene@asus.com with case reference number N150197263.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor...some flaws + terrible support

Pros: Great price at the time when compared to other 1440p monitors
out of the box color isn't too bad.
swivel stand
comes with multiple cables
1440p

Cons: Display Port bug seems to plague this monitor where it doesn't handshake properly when booting up or coming out of sleep. You can by-pass this by changing motherboard bios settings or you're out of luck if that doesn't resolve the problem. While nvidia drivers seem to fix the issue partially..its not a 100%

ASUS Support: asus support is the biggest let down time and time again. They never respond to emails, their escalations box probably leads to a spam folder that they never check. (I've never received a response).

Their warranty terms are archaic and a pain in the you know what to deal with. Seriously I have to scan and email or fax 2 paper forms with 5 signatures and my CC information which you pre-bill me the full MRSP, + Shipping + a bogus $10 "processing" Charge?

Also per the warranty instructions, you state you will void the warranty if there is any damage during shipment. Last time I checked short of the consumer not packaging the monitor properly, damage en route is out of our hands. So you except us to buy additional insurance ontop of your pre-paid labels?

I don't think I'll be dealing with Asus anymore, I've spent too much money on your products to deal with lack luster support and warranty terms that should be borderline illegal to enforce.

Other Thoughts: Asus really needs to step up their support and overhaul their warranty terms and customer service. How is it your products are so successful but your support can't seem to transition to such levels? You've got a long ways to go to earn my business back.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: Quality
Huge
1440p
Overclock (May not be supported)
Great stand
Connectivity (DP,HDMI,DVI,VGA)
All cables included (DP,HDMI,DVI,VGA)
Easy to use OSD

Cons: Expensive

Other Thoughts: This really is a great monitor. 1440p is very demanding and make sure you have the GPU to push this beast. For gaming you really need a 760 or above but for productivity and web browsing less powerful GPU's would be ok. If I had to pick between this and the Korean monitors, I would still pick this one. Asus is a great brand and this monitor really proves that.

1 out of 5 eggs4th try

Pros: Beautiful picture. Makes my old monitor look it came out of a gas pump.

Cons: First three were all the same. DVI the only input that would work at all and it was a total mess. With this screen DVI is blue screen, Displayport is working perfectly....except every time I turn my computer back on, the screen is back on DVI input and I have to go to the menu and select Displayport again.

1 out of 5 eggsNot Good

Pros: Great price for 2560x1440

Cons: Terrible back light bleed in upper left and lower right corners
Vertical lines and dots all over the place on the screen
Out of the box color is terrible
Thankfully I still have my PA248Q to fall back on during RMA

4 out of 5 eggsTilted

Pros: An excellent all-around monitor

Cons: The monitor will not rotate fully into the landscape position. What I'm saying is the monitor will not sit level. It's tilted. I can actually measure the tilt off the desktop. The left side sits almost a full 1/4" higher than the right side in the landscape position. For a "professional" monitor, I find this oversight in the build quality to be very disappointing.

Other Thoughts: One can always compensate for the tilt by shimming up the right side of the base. It's just not something I would expect to have to do with this class of monitor.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautifully productive

Pros: This display is beautiful. I used a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adaptor to connect it directly to my Mac mini ("Late 2012"). The Mac instantly recognized the display and powers it at full 2560x1440 resolution. This ASUS is my primary monitor and an older Dell DVI monitor is plugged into the Mac mini as a secondary display. I love the massive screen real estate.

The ASUS monitor has built in speakers which receive their audio signal over the DisplayPort cable. The sound quality is excellent to my ears, though I'm no audiophile. It's certainly sounds better than the tiny Mac mini internal speakers.

Cons: The display connectors are in an awkward place. During set up, I can to take the monitor off my desk, plug in all the cables then put it back. Only a minor inconvenience though.

4 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Monitor

Pros: -Amazing Colors
-Motion Blur IS NOT A PROBLEM
-1440p
-Overall incredible build quality

Cons: -LIGHT BLEED IN CORNERS (See other info)

Other Thoughts: The Light Bleed issue. It is not terribvle in games. When watching a movie with black bars on the top and bottom you will notice the light bleed. It is just a little more bright and white than the rest of the monitor. From a distance not so bad. From like 6-8" away you'll see it. In games it is not abig deal if you have your gamma at a perfect level. THE COLOR AND SHARPNESS OF THIS MONITOR MAKES UP FOR THE LIGHT BLEED IN EVERY WAY!
