Concept to Creation. Precision to the Finest Detail.

A new killer equipment for digital content creation and entertainment, the ASUS PB Series PB278Q LED monitor incorporates exciting performance and features demanded by professionals and designers. A colossal 27" screen size means more viewing real estate, 2560 x 1440 WQHD packs four times the pixels of 720p, so you can see more content on the screen and accomplish tasks with less mouse roll. The LED display affords 178° wide viewing angles for better productivity. ASUS exclusive Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, QuickFit Virtual Scale, and 100% sRGB fidelity ensure reality-defining color and image accuracy, complete with rich stereo sound from twin 3W speakers. An ergonomic design allows easy adjustment of tilt, swivel, pivot, and height, enabling you to enjoy the visual brilliance in extreme comforts.

  • newegg True-to-life Visuals The PB278Q features a 16:9 aspect ratio and a LED-backlit 27” WQHD display that provides 109 pixels per inch (PPI), resulting in high quality 2560 x 1440 visuals – equaling four times the resolution of standard 720p sets. It allows users to view greater image detail and do more with an onscreen footprint larger than that of standard displays. The screen’s 109PPI density means there are 109 RGB matrices within one inch. Generally, the more pixels a display has, the more lighting (or power) those pixels require to achieve the best visuals. However, with advanced LED backlighting on the PB278Q, power and energy savings are no longer compromised, while better visuals are assured.
  • newegg Made for Work and Play The ASUS PB278Q provides an ultra-wide 178° viewing angle on both horizontal and vertical planes, thereby minimizing onscreen color shift even when viewed from extreme angles. With its WQHD display, you enjoy 77% more desktop space than a full HD screen to spread out your windows and palettes. It is also about 25% sharper than a generic 27” full HD display, delivering ultra-smooth visuals thanks to 5ms (GTG) response time. This ensures you get lag-free experiences in movies and gaming, with the latter looking more vivid, with all in-game details shown in true color. The ASUS PB278Q is undoubtedly your best choice for work and play.
  • newegg QuickFit Virtual Scale for true what you see is what you get ASUS includes its exclusive QuickFit Virtual Scale feature with the PB278Q, allowing you to preview photos and documents on-screen in their actual size prior to printing. It can be activated via a monitor hotkey, and serves as a highly useful guide to accurately view and edit photos in their native size.
  • newegg Splendid Video Intelligence Technology Driven by a precision color engine that automatically analyzes and determines the nature of your current task, Splendid Video Intelligence Technology adjusts display parameters accordingly to ensure color accuracy and image fidelity. Six preset modes (scenery, theater, sRGB, standard, and two user-customizable modes) can be quickly selected via a designated hotkey.
  • newegg Extensive Connectivity The PB278Q features a host of connectivity options that include HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, and dual-link DVI for native WQHD, plus D-sub for full HD 1080p content transmission. Twin built-in 3W speakers provide quality audio for a completely immersive home theater experience.
  • newegg Designed with You in Mind The PB278Q offers a highly ergonomic and smart design that comes with tilt, pivot, swivel, and height adjustments to ensure an always-comfortable viewing and usage experience. Its smart cable management further promotes clutter-free spaces for work and enjoyment.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: No back-light bleed, no real issues to report with this monitor.

It's not "4K" but at 2K its more than enough imo. I game quite fine and find it very aesthetically pleasing as well as color quality to be spot on as expected.

Cons: Only real "issue" is how the monitor turns. Entire thing turns not the screen which is a bit annoying but luckily for me has no point so didn't take off an egg. Not as thin as my 1080P Acer LED monitor or light weight but still not an issue

Other Thoughts: Could have been better if it was 120hz but all in all its more than sufficient at 60hz.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: The screen is a little bigger than my 23" monitor.

Cons: My Asus monitor arrived with a dead pixel and pretty bad backlight bleed on the lower right corner that goes half way up the screen. It's really distracting with a dark screen, and most games have a lot of dark screens. I am a little disappointed with the quality of this monitor. I was expecting more from Asus.

2 out of 5 eggs2nd one

Pros: i can tell its nice when it works

Cons: so this is my 2nd monitor that has been shipped to me. the first one was damaged due to usp treating my package like a rag doll (not asus or neweggs fault) my 2nd one has 2 dead pixels and a gray dot in the upper mid part of the screen. it appears that it is coming under the panel its self . I love newegg but i feel that im going to opt out for buying local on this one. im tired of sending my stuff out to revive a "good product" for just that one to be faulty as well. i would rather just drive to the store and return it that day. (yes you have that gamble when ordering online i get that but this is tiresome)

Other Thoughts: I but 95% of my computer parts on newegg, but this time i have to go somewhere else :(

4 out of 5 eggsGood, but came damaged

Pros: I could definitely notice a difference in color quality right away from my acer 1080p monitor.
easy set up
comes with every cord you can think of.

Cons: viewing angles are not as good as i expected.
came damaged upon arrival.
had a good size hole in my box. and of course were the hole was there was scuffs on my screen, and dead pixels on the screen were with what ever punctured my monitor box

Other Thoughts: not neweggs fault for the damaged monitor.
but took one egg away because my older led monitor seems to have better viewing angles.....don't know how but it does

2 out of 5 eggs18 mon

Pros: Good picture, good stand and adjustment, good performance with GTX680.

Cons: Buttons are now non responsive. Support told me to unplug the monitor for 2 hours. Solved the problem for a few days. There is a persistent flaw with my monitor and they know it.

Other Thoughts: I will buy a Dell form Dell factory next. (if you want Dell support / warranty buy it from Dell)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jason,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products. We are sorry to hear your problems about the buttons. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testings and final inspections for both hardware and software before sending it out to the stores worldwide. 3 out of 5 eggsNice Monitor if only the Display Port worked

Pros: The height and pivot adjustment on this Monitor is great. Not sure what I would ever use that vertical display for, but it makes it easier to plug in your cables to it.

Cons: The Display Port does not work on this. I get a black screen a lot of the time and it will not let me change the resolution past 800x600. I then plugged the DVI cable in and it works fine using this cable and I was able to change the resolution to 2560x1440.

Tried the DP cable again and still same issues with it. Sometimes turning the PC off for a minute then back on would allow the DP to show the screen but I still could not ever adjust the reso past 800x600. So I gave up and am just using the DVI cable.

I did call Asus Tech support and this is crazy. Lady told me to allow Teamviewer so she could look at my PC to try and fix the issue. So I let her in and she goes to Windows Task Manager and then the Service tab and she goes "Look at all those viruses". She was referring to all the stopped services in that tab and calling them viruses. Some of Asus tech people are just plan bad and have no business being on the phone to try and trouble shoot something.

It's totally normal for some services to be stopped. Sometimes they're stopped because they're simply not required for your system, and sometimes they're stopped because they aren't needed at the moment.

I just hung up at that point, I am not dealing with a idiot.

Debating if I should return the monitor for the price I shelled out since I will never be able to use the DP.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Glenn,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products and services. On behalf of ASUS, We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We are sorry to hear your experience with unit and the support line. Have you tried using another DP cable to check if the problem will still occur? Maybe there is a loose connection. For further assistance, you can email me at customerloyalty@asus.com and place the case #N150624289in the subject line for reference.

2 out of 5 eggsNice monitor, when it works.

Pros: Great image. NO tearing. NO glare. Love it

Cons: The case came with a rubbed off right corner. It ruins the aesthetics. It wasn't worth the $45 to ship it back and get a clean one. In hindsight, I should have shipped it back.

It freakin' flickers. I get static lines across the screen and a loud popping noise. Happens a few times a day. Of course it started happening a month after I got it.

Other Thoughts: I have tried calling Asus support and couldn't get through. I will try again when I have a few hours to kill...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Jonathon,

Thank your for your time in posting a review about our products and services. On behalf of ASUS, We would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. 4 out of 5 eggsA little slow to start but nice to look at

Pros: Stuff on the screen looks great. I'm not watching a lot of videos but I do have to deal with a lot of small text and images so quality matters.

Cons: When waking the monitor, it takes several seconds to come on. It's a minor annoyance but still quite noticeable compared to my previous monitor (Apple cinema display) so one egg off for that.

4 out of 5 eggsAsus PB278Q

Pros: Very nice display. I upgraded from a 23" 1080p tn pannel and wow the difference. no dead pixels.

Cons: there was a spec of dust behind the screen that I originally thought was a dead pixel until I tapped on the screen and it moved. 20 minutes later I managed to tap it off screen behind the bezel.

back light bleed is kinda bad . not noticeable in normal use or gaming.

display seemss very bright on white screens even with brightness at 25, any lower than that and everything is dim
