4 out of 5 eggsTakes some getting used to when you're used to a CRT

Pros: Nice tight text with 1920x1200 resolution.
No dead pixels, dim spots, or corner flares.
Nice and bright (maybe too bright).

Cons: No height adjustment.
No HDMI cable. Supplied DVI, VGA, and power cables are quite short. (30"?)
Contrary the spec, there is no Kensington lock feature (which I presume is supposed to be a solid ring for cable attachment).
Typical grey on black control labels are practically invisible (which some might consider a good thing).
Most of the presets are worthless.

Other Thoughts: I'm coming from a nice 19" Viewsonic CRT at 1600x1200 that was starting to get dim. This is so much nicer, and so bright I had to turn the setting down for fear of sunburn. I do s/w development and this will be SO much better with multiple windows and small type. HD video looks good. I don't do action gaming so can't give feedback there. Also note that there are no built-in speakers (which is fine with me but a little surprising when they seem to be ubiquitous).
Overall very pleased. I'll try to update this when I have more experience with it.

3 out of 5 eggsgood monitor overall

Pros: The monitor looks pretty nice. The quality of ISP really shines through.

Cons: Sometimes the thing is not responsive when I turn my PC on. I just need to improperly shut my PC down and start over... which is a hassle. It has become a bigger hassle now that i need to switch inputs from my laptop to my PC, when I plug it in to HDMI nothing happens, then I go turn it off and turn it back on and it says HDMI is not connected BUT none of the buttons aside from power work either.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this monitor to other people, just hoping there's a firmware fix or something.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value

Pros: Inexpensive IPS

Cons: Inconsistent color.
No displayport.

Other Thoughts: Bought 3 of these for a triple monitor setup. The stand can be completely removed with a couple screws for a seamless vesa mount. Out of the box, I could not get the settings just right so that the 3 monitors showed colors exactly the same. Over the year, they seem to have "burned in" and I am able to get them nearly exact. There is a very slight variation but is not noticeable during normal use.

I wouldn't recommend if you are needing multi-monitor setup for photo use. But if exact color matching isn't critical, these IPS monitors are a great value. If I needed to, I would buy them again. I just wish these had a displayport input.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor

Pros: Inexpensive and exactly what I wanted. 16x10 is ideal for a workstation display.

Cons: Like most monitors these days it's almost too bright! Not really a con though, since with the brightness on zero (!) it's perfect in low light. There's some shine when displaying large black areas, though again, not really a con in a display at this price point.

Other Thoughts: This is one of the nicest displays I've ever used, and also the least expensive!

5 out of 5 eggs2X = Awesome

Pros: Not a programmer or a working professional so take my review for what it's worth it to you. Now having said that. I've owned one coming up on 2 years now and finally took the plunge and purchased a second one. I used to be a hardcore gamer but only play sparingly now; mostly got the second one for school and financing (stock market time). Overall, for me I've found "standard" on 50% brightness is perfect. The color and detail on these monitors is great but as others have said the stands are lacking in functionality (wobble on weak / flimsy desks). However, I wouldn't put this as a CON as most LCD's have a poor stand regardless of what you pay. That is unless of course it's explicitly stated as being an engineer or graphic designer monitor (i.e. for the workforce). Overall, tilt (front to back) is good, picture quality is awesome and the resolution is great for a 24in. A good price to function ratio monitor for just about anything from gaming, to work and movies.

Cons: -None-

Other Thoughts: Buy a stand that can mount to your computer desk and raise these guys up. I'm 6ft 1in and I find myself hunching like Mr. Incredible....

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Monitor, Lousy Stand

Pros: Gorgeous looking monitor. The bezel is classy, the stand is understated, and the screen surface itself is a nice matte. Using it straight out of the box, great color and brightness, seriously deep blacks, and good response time. Motion blur is good enough for serious, if not hardcore, gaming, as is response time, no perceived lag. Movies look fantastic but I will have to dial in the calibration a bit as some of the colors were just a hair off for my tastes but I'm sure it can be done. Moving this monitor around and getting it set up were a breeze as it's rather light, easy to get into position.

Cons: The stand, while good looking and functional, does flex quite a bit through the neck of the stand leading up to the monitor, particularly from left to right. There's just too much mass atop the stand, which was made more spindly than necessary. If you're overly agressive with moving your mouse and your desk has any wobble to it, the monitor will pick that up. I'd give a 5/5 review if the stand was more stable. Otherwise it's a good looking stand, and adjusting the tilt on it was easy and worry-free, it's tight enough that your monitor won't reorient itself from a little wobbling.

Other Thoughts: Wobbly stand issues are certainly defeatable with the application of a third-party desk/wall mount, (Comes with 100x100 Vesa Mounting Holes) as is my plan for this monitor anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat screens, One with a yellow line down it

Pros: Delightfully large
Good price for the extra resolution
Fit perfectly on my monitor stand.

Cons: One of the three monitors I ordered has a column of off-color pixles down the right side about 4 inches from the bezel. This has forced me to use that monitor as the right most monitor in my 3 panel array.

There is an annoying sleep mode process on the monitors where if they lose signal, they go dark, then a few moments later, swap to a blaring BSOD Blue before actually going to sleep themselves.

Other Thoughts: If one of the three monitors I ordered had a few dead pixles this would be a four or even a five. But an entire off color column is cause for serious down rating.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat 16:10 Monitor with HDMI

Pros: This is a nice monitor for the price. No bad pixels. It is very bright out-of-the-box as others have mentioned, but the brightness can be adjusted. I turned mine down to 50%. When I wake up the PC, the monitor comes alive immediately, unlike the Samsung that has been my main monitor for years.

One feature that sets this apart from other 16:10 monitors is that this has an HDMI input (as well as DVI and D-Sub). Most 16:10 monitors only support DVI and D-Sub. This is the primary reason I selected this monitor over the others in this class.

Of course the best thing about this monitor is that it has a 16:10 aspect ratio. I want the extra height for viewing documents side-by-side on screen. With 16:10, I can do that without scrolling up/down. (I understand why manufacturers are making monitors in a 16:9 ratio, but I'll never understand why people are buying them!)

Cons: Only 1 HDMI input (but at least it has one). I also use this monitor as a secondary monitor for a laptop. This is only a minor con since the laptop has a VGA output.

Other Thoughts: I have always been adamant about buying Samsung monitors. Prior to this purchase, the only non-Samsung flat-screens in my house were my laptop and tablet. I had never purchased a non-Samsung TV or monitor. Now I am planning to order another of this ASUS model while available to replace a Samsung (currently my primary monitor)...I'm tired of having to wait for the Samsung to wake up.

5 out of 5 eggsone happy camper

Pros: the price
fast enough for the casual gamer

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Replacing my good old Dell 2405FPW, I was a bit skeptical to switch from Ultrasharp after a long run with a great product. Asus did not disappoint with this monitor. Colors really pop and gaming is smooth.

The base has no height adjustment was a little low for my setup, but it did feel sturdy enough to handle the job if I were to use it. But I rigged a universal VESA mount to my original Dell 2405fpw base stand which can adjust to any which way and use that instead.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare looks and plays smooth on 1920x1200 running almost maxed out with Nvidia 770GTX.

I was stuck between the Dell U2415 and this one. The Dell was on sale for 299 on a few sites. The Asus still beat that price and for gaming beat the refresh rate by 1ms.

For the lowest price for a IPS 16:10 , 1920x1200 monitor....and a better than average refresh rate than most competitors at the budget price range, I'm glad I made the choice of saving a few bucks going with Asus and passing on the Dell U2415.

If your looking for a solid performing monitor and don't need all the extras to jack up the price this is the one.
