4 out of 5 eggsGood product, worth the money I spent

Pros: Great colors
Clear picture
Nice looking monitor
very small bevel

I've had two of these things for maybe a year now and they're going strong. Nice picture and everything, haven't even thought about replacing them or anything.

Cons: Literally my only issue with these monitors are the touch buttons. Cool at first but they're either freakishly sensitive or don't respond to touch at all (they pick and choose when they like to work) and it's hard to navigate the menu. It's a very small issue, definitely not worth ruling this monitor out over.

Oh, one more thing - be careful with them. The matte finish actually scratches pretty easily and it can be a pretty harsh reality check. My mic bumped one of the monitors and now there's a 3 inch scratch on the middle/top of the screen. Makes me wanna cry.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend. Be careful for scratching and touch button bumps but beyond that they're really good monitors.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat design, not so impressive specifications, fair price & in 1 year 4 dead pixels.

Pros: - design is great. Slim & lightweight but in same time stable because of round shaped base.
- price is a plus. When i compare it with HP or Dell, Asus is best buy
- this screen has more than enough compatibile specification for 3d & 2d job

Cons: - LCD panel is not so reliable, in fact, during the 1 year of exploatation, i`ve got "cluster" of 4 dead pixells at the middle of the screen.
- Asus have worst service shop in Croatia, therefore i cannot recommend this Monitor. Although i`ve got a 2 of the same at my desk.
- 3 year warranty does not make a sence with such horrible support in Croatia.
- refresh rate of 60 hz, isnt it too low?
- does come with museum style VGA cable, without display port cable

Other Thoughts: - if you dont live in Croatia, maybe i could recommend it. In case that you live in Croatia, no.
- in general, well designed, fair priced
- cannot recommend cuz of big cluster dead pixells on the middle of the panel, and disgustingly "we don`t care" service support in Croatia

4 out of 5 eggsAfter a Month of Research

Pros: Clarity, Sharpness, Contrast, Color, Price (When it was $199 after $30 rebate.), Design, DigitalPort, Speakers

Cons: One Bad Pixel, 5ms Seems Like It Could Be A Slight Bit Less Blurry,

Other Thoughts: After shopping for approximately a month for a device that would double as a work monitor for independent movie post-production from a MacBook Pro via DigitalPort, as well as an HDTV for a PS4, this is what I chose. Over the course of that month, I spent roughly three hours a day, three days a week researching reviews and models--everything from televisions to computer monitors. Brick and mortar to online.

It's easy to see why so many individuals become overwhelmed with specs, techs and choices, or, rely on a few reviews to purchase a monitor. Instead, I took the less traveled route. Remaining patient, I was led to a choice that resulted in zero doubt that the ultimate, #1 device for my current needs was chosen.

Other than the monitor having one bad [red] pixel (only prevalent on dark scenes or black background) and the 5ms GTG (grey to grey) response time being a hair slower than I was hoping for, this monitor is solid. This, I claim as someone who spends an average of two hours a day on a MacBook Pro (Mid 2014) with a Retina display. The VX279 is even sharp enough for reading text at desk sitting distance. Eye fatigue has also not been an issue.

Viewing angle is wide and bright. Colors are rich and vibrant without seeming fake, shiny or boosted in an uncanny artificial way.

Sound from the built-in speakers are usable, capable and good--but just barely.

After looking at everything from ultrawide screen monitors to 4K televisions--from Acer to Westinghouse--I can state with confidence as of the time of this review: this is the best choice for under $250.

Period.

(Will remain forever amazed how sleek, sharp and defined the design of this monitor is compared to the other cheap plastic rectangles in this price range.)

1 out of 5 eggsDisplay Port doesn't work. Rebate Process was a hassle.

Pros: 27" Monitor. 1920x1080 Resolution.

Cons: Display Port does not show any video when connected to Display Port of Desktop PC. Has only 1 HDMI Port. The other port is VGA.

2 out of 5 eggsDisappointing

Pros: DisplayPort input. 27". Game mode crosshair or timer.

Cons: When using displayport, you must use the displayport audio out of the computer if you want to use the speakers or headphones jack on the monitor. The monitor will not use the audio in jack, Picture quality is rather poor compared to other less expensive monitors. everything looks a little washed out. I worked in video engineering/production and have calibrated many monitors. I cannot get accurate colors using SMPTE test patterns to calibrate the monitor.

Other Thoughts: newegg will not let me return this monitor for refund. buyer beware of this monitor as there is no way to get your money back on it. other online retailers that cannot be named in newegg reviews will accept a return on any product that is not satisfactory. very disappointed in newegg's refund policy for products that do not meet minimal expectaions. In this case, audio in always available and being able to calibrate colors to SMPTE standards.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent Monitor - Build Quality Questionable

Pros: Decent display. Beautiful design.

Cons: I've owned this monitor for about a year and a half. The bottom bezel started separating from the screen a couple of months ago. At this point there's about a 2mm gap between the screen and the bottom bezel. Disappointing.

1 out of 5 eggswish i could get my money back

Pros: Good monitor for the price

Cons: ASUS Rapid Replacement for 3 years.....

Around the 1st of January I noticed a small line of dead pixels. So I RMA'ed it. Got the replacement monitor 2-3-15 came in a box way to big for it and it was broken. Took till 2-9-15 to get another RMA set up and they were going to cross-ship me a new one. It is now 3-21-15 I have no monitor anymore and do not know if i will ever have one again. Asus has no clue what happen to it or what the status is on the RMA.

I have been promised emails calls back and my case has been escalated for 3 weeks now. Nobody has ever contacted me with answers. When I contact them they act like they have not heard from me 15 times already this month.

Zero eggs if there was an option.

4 out of 5 eggsA very nice overall monitor

Pros: Huge display with thin bezels. Bezel is around half an inch it seems. IPS display with nice angles. Little to none back light bleeding thank goodness. No noticeable lag in gaming thus far. Paired with a GTX 970 and has performed admirably. Paid under $250 after rebate.

Cons: Buttons are insane. Who came up with super sensitive touch buttons with no feedback. Takes forever to do something simple because you are always accidentally pressing the wrong thing.

Other Thoughts: Some of the people here complaining have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. If you know you're buying a 1080p monitor at 27", obviously it can't be compared to a 27" 1440p or 4K. You can't just stretch pixels out and expect the same quality since the number count doesn't increase with size. This isn't CSI, you can't zoom in on a tiny crop of a security cam picture and then it becomes HD..

The only thing wrong with the monitor is the buttons. It's like solving a Rubik's cube just to do a simple task. Literally takes 5 minutes of back and forth tinkering to adjust one setting. Even the order of the buttons make no sense. It's something like "Return, Up, Select, Down" except in linear form. Why wouldn't you put up and down together. And since the buttons activate anytime you breathe, it's a test of patience.

As for color, the monitor, for the price!, is actually quite accurate and vivid. This monitor is a 27" IPS which can be had for under $250 shipped. Not a bad deal at all. 5ms GTG is good enough for most gamers, no noticeable lag unless you are playing right next to a 1ms/120+hz. Even then it's barely worth mentioning. This is a solid 4 star to 4.5 star monitor. On a side note, those complaining about speakers on a monitor. You've got to be kidding.. They are probably 2 watts.. Any serious gamer, entertainment enthusiast would at least have 2.1 speakers set up. Knocking off a star for speakers on a monitor is ridiculous.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Entry Level IPS Display

Pros: Big, bright, aesthetically pleasing.

Cons: As other mentioned, the buttons are a bit of a pain, but I rarely have need to use them, so it's no big deal. Text isn't quite as smooth as it could be. I guess I can try to calibrate better. Maybe at 27" 1080 isn't enough resolution. Still looks very very nice though. I guess it doesn't have the standard VESA (or whatever it's called) mounting capability, but I just use the included stands.

Other Thoughts: I use two of these. Do some photo editing, pro tools, etc. Great displays for the price. I bought one a few years ago and just bought another because I liked to so much.
